After patiently waiting for our meal for nearly 2 hours... We found out that our waitress did not actually put our order in. They were very busy and for us to have the order put in would've been almost nearly another hour to wait. We had to get grandpa some food as he was crashing fast. Fortunately the barbecue place next-door save the day and got us food quickly. Used to really enjoy the otter and everybody there is very friendly. However no offer to cover or discount our appetizer onion rings and a couple of cocktails we had ordered while we were waiting for the food for again nearly 2 hours. Not exactly the kind of Customer Service I expect when I'm in the Midwest. I will say the onion rings were delicious but since that's the only thing we were able to try that's all I can say and that is where the two stars come from. Ever watch Seinfeld? "No soup for you!" This place seems to abhor outsiders. Lots of laughter and seemingly good natured ribbing but that seems to be reserved for the locals. Made the mistake of inquiring about the cornucopia of bourbon semi-unicorns in the back room. I was firmly put in my place by Hilda. And speaking of bourbon... What they have is grossly over-priced by $20-30 per bottle. If you are local - this is likely your place. If you are from outside the immediate area - most definitely not. You will find friendly service and cheaper bourbon down the road. Keep driving. read more

Saturday night, this was the place to be. There were games, birthday parties, and groups of people enjoying the evening. The food was really good too. Had the Saturday special, prime rib and my wife had a steak. Both were very good. read more

We loved this small town bar, but only because of Maegan. Every other bartender wrote us off and labeled us as "rude" and stereotyped us as a "typical" bachelorette party. They even had the audacity to come out to our car when we left and badger us about the tip we left, which we only gave a lesser tip simply because we were given poor service from the bartenders. read more

Went here on wing night. At first the service was great. Good wings, a little confusion on orders but everyone ordered wings so it was expected. Our initial waitress was done for the night, so we all tabbed out to give her the rightful tip. The next person on shift was horrible. Came to the table twice, looked at my empty glass, and promptly walked back behind the bar without asking anything. Almost to the point of insult. I wouldn't recommend for anything late night at all. Whoa what a site Halloween weekend 2020 & NO vehicles at an otherwise hopping local hang out! Covid closed the Otter & hotel 100% only to divert Halloween costume party goers to Zorbaz and Beach Bums on the other side of the lake. (Which Jordan of Beach Bums handled just wonderfully!! ). Wow to see the Otter lot empty and very much like a ghost town! Inevitable people were saying ... Well get her cleaned professionally so noone else gets ill and hope to see-you open and healthy in spring 2021! read more

Awesome steak and beer for less than 31 cents during their happy hour that starts at 9 PM! This place may look kinda hick on the website but it was pretty decent inside and you can't tell if you get there after dark. The food and service were amazing! They are known for their steak dinners. The wine was only $4 and their happy hour beer is priced based on the day of the month so if you go there on the 1st of the month the beer is only one cent. No joke! If you are up north in MN I would try to hit this place up! Live music starts at 10 PM so it gets pretty loud and dark in the dining room even if you're still eating. read more

First time to this place with some buddies including some MN locals and had a blast!! Good company, nice local draft beers, my girlfriend and I split spaghetti & meatballs & a salad. This place had live music playing (90's) and some country dancing going on. Off in the corner they have some deer hunting games and maybe a pool table out back (couldn't tell completely). Great place to have some beers and food with a big group of people in a nice, quaint town! Love Ottertail, would love to come back to this cool town and bar again sometime soon!! read more

Ok. I understand it's hard to find staff and the place was busy. I also have no problem paying more for food with the way the economy is going. Two things that really bug me is a two hour ordeal to get a couple burgers and a couple kids pizzas, and if you're raising prices please make sure they quality doesn't suffer. My prime rib topped burger was far from the 6 oz ( didn't even cover half the bun, maybe 1/2 inch thick) with no more than an ounce of so called prime rib. The other burger was as bad. Again I know times are tough and I'm willing to endure somewhat of a wait to a point, pay more, etc. but at least deliver on quality. read more

Why they call this place a 'Supper Club,' is anyones guess. If over priced bar food is what you're looking for at a restuarant then maybe this place is for you. The interior looks like its 25 years passed its prime. The service was extremely slow. We appreciated the apologies. However, once the food came it made no difference. Over cooked, over fried, over priced. Don't waste your money. Fast food at the gas station next door would have been better. read more

Amazing shrimp tacos!! 5 out of 5! Although I do have a complaint about your styrofoam takeout boxes. Styrofoam never disintegrates and there is no way to get rid of it. Once it is made, it never leaves this planet. This is a big concern for me and it makes eating tacos much less enjoyable. There are many other options such as paper carry out boxes that you could use instead. Thanks so much for taking this into consideration. I will be back in August hoping for new carry out boxes! read more

I have to leave a second review and down the stars. After coming here for years, we may have been here for the last time. We had an extremely bad experience here (which happens) however when notifying them, no response was given. Well here it is.. We came here for a nice dinner out. I ordered the stuffed shrimp, my husband originally ordered the ribeye, and then changed his order to the shrimp Alfredo after he was informed that the ribeyes have been coming out bad and many have been sent back lately. My kids ordered cheeseburgers (which they were preparing a load of burgers when we walked in (in advance for "burger night"). Okay where do I start, first of all the service was fantastic and thanks for giving us tips. Second of all, my stuffed shrimp was literally tasteless. I had to choke the remainder down out of boredom. And if you know me at all, I love food especially shrimp so this is an issue. My husband received chicken Alfredo instead of the shrimp Alfredo he ordered. It was gross. The chicken was most likely microwaved. There were no grill, sear, or pan marks on it and it was so tough it couldn't be chewed. The burgers were okay.. Nothing special. So because of the awful experience I sent a message to them on Facebook messenger which let's me know if they received it. They did and no response was ever given! I won't be spending $70 for this kind of food here again. read more

Meh. The first meal here was an atrociously overcooked burger brought out by a bitchy waitress. The second meal was an acceptable mammoth cut (had to be 24oz just ridiculous) of prime rib from a very nice waitress. So the problem here is consistency, you never know what you're going to get. Prices are also too high for the quality of food. You have to be paying for the decor because it is rather nice inside! You might be better off just getting appetizers. read more

Our place to go in Ottertail. The dinner side salad starts everything off. Good selection, service and value. The bar staff is top notch.

Great little local bar and supper club in rural NW MN. Service is usually great, food can be hit and miss, prices ok, ambiance for a Northwood feel small town bar is great. Fun events going on frequently and fabulous monthly wine pairing dinners, super fun parking lot party and so much more. Can't beat their Friday night meat raffle but the chef should look into providing small appetizer that's worth eating. read more

We came down from Fargo to stay the night at the Otter and experience the Prime Rib special as we heard it was exceptional! We went to the restaurant at 5:30p and at 5:50p were informed that they were out of prime rib... on a Saturday night. I was frustrated and and spoke with Dexter the manager. Long story short, an additional prime rib was already cooking and the staff was nothing shy of gracious. Dexter was amazing with how he explained the unusual situation and handled our request as did the wait staff. The meal was amazing and if I could, I'd give the establishment a higher grade then Yelp offers! Dexter and his crew is to be commended for taking care of a couple of folks looking for a a silly prime rib meal! Kudos all around!! read more

Had dinner over the weekend here, meet with some friends who were staying at the hotel and its kinda mixed review. The food was acceptable, most of our order was correct and well cooked. That is where the good stopped. We were mostly ignored even when we actively tried to get our servers attention, she was almost polite but didnt seem to have much idea about the menu and even less desire to do her job. The table was dirty when we were sat, the chairs had food from the last diners still on it, and one table over had so much food and garbage under it I was kind of turned off the meal. My husband and Brother both had excellent meals, but I could barely taste the food. When I tried to speak to the manager about it she was, in my best guess, drunk. While I do have to say there have been a lot of improvements in the decor and the general appearance and the overall (the hotel looked much better than last time) The waitstaff made me regreatful of our choice.....May be back....may not, but if we get the same waitress I will not stay! read more
