went for dinner at the Interlachen Inn. The service was good for how many tables it seemed our waiter was dealing with, the atmosphere was relaxing and pleasant. We ordered some wings for an appetizer and both ordered medium rare ribeyes with no sides of any kind (carnivore style) for the main course. The wings were really good but turned out to be breaded so definitely NOT carnivore friendly. When the steaks make it to the table is where our dining experience took a turn for the worse. Their appearance had my mouth watering even if they were a little on the thin side - they looked great. Upon cutting the steaks, they were obviously overcooked to medium. This isn't a deal breaker for me and I can enjoy a medium steak as well even if it's not my preference so I was still excited for the first bite. I shouldn't have been. I think the grill marks on the steaks must come that way from the supplier because they had no grilled flavor, no char flavor and honestly... pretty much no flavor at all. For $30 per steak I guess I expected more. Overall I would say it could be a great place and atmosphere to go sit and have a drink and some apps but I would be hesitant to choose it for dinner again. read more

Food - good Service - Great Ambiance - like a classic dining experience with wooden chairs, harkening back to 80s style country club dining rooms. This place has been here for probably like 80 years and has always been a "destination dinner" in Alexandria, MN. Their shirts and sweatshirts are expensive BUT they're the warmest I've ever had, especially useful in winter or a cold/flu spat. This is my opinion so take it at that. I never send anything back to the kitchen because it's food and I have this thing about my food leaving the table and coming back. I really like this place and go here just for the Prime Rib. It's always been good and have never had any problems but this time I was disappointed from the start. It's a Friday night, I know it's going to busy and it was. I did make reservations for 2 and we were seated on time. This was the first time in a booth, don't get a booth. Unless your a small person, it's going to be really small and uncomfortable for you. The cushions are wore and you sink into them. The decor really needs to be updated. It took 45 minutes to get the first round of drinks and we ordered our meal at that time. The picture shows the curdled dairy in the drink. They really dropped the ball on that drink and did it again on the second drink. Order the king cut Prime Rib and shared it with the wife. The Prime Rib came out 45 minutes after ordering it (now a total of 1.5 hours after being seated) along with the hashbrowns as a side. We also ordered 3 grilled shrimp as a side. As you can see, the hashbrowns side portion was small. The shrimp was small as well and not worth the $5 price tag each. The part I really, really was disappointed with was all the fat on the Prime Rib (in the picture). I know there's fat on a Prime Rib but not like this and then to charge $36 for it. Eddy's continues to impress, year after year! Gayle runs a tight ship, but above all she only let's restaurenters who are committed to their craft on her team. Really nice crew there this weekend. Once again, I have to call out their fish chowder! I'm a New Englander but would pick Gayle's chowder blindfolded every time. We had dinner on a Friday night at the Interlachen Inn. We were a little disappointed that they did not have any fish special on Fridays. We both ordered ribeyes. One was supposed to be medium and the other medium well. We could not tell the difference! They were both charred on the outside! The portions were good but the hash browns were also over cooked. Our server was pleasant and we would have said something about the steak being over cooked but we did not have time to hassle. The restaurant is smaller on the inside than it looks on the outside. We had made a reservation so we were seated almost immediately. We would have preferred a table but we took a booth anyway. So so disappointing. The chips were very good but the rest of the meal was not worth the high price tag! My husband's steak was dry and overcooked, my Walleye was so full of bones and scales it was a challenge to eat. The salad was nasty wilted Lettuce drowned in dressing, the mashed potatoes were gummy and weird but the worst of all was the "Oscar" option that cost $6 to add to my fish! Instead of Crab meat with holidase sauce over asparagus, it was crappy imitation Crab with some nasty sauce that tasted like Cheese Wiz over 3 pieces of asparagus. I also ordered a glass of Moscato, instead what I got was a $7 glass of stale reisling. This meal cost us over $100 plus $20 tip. Complete waste of money! The Interlachen Inn has been a stable in Alexandria for decades and is always a favorite stop for our family. We called ahead and got a reservation for six, since the theater is right down the street and the Inn can get pretty filled up most nights in the summer. The waitress was friendly and prompt with our drinks. Most of us ordered the walleye, which is a local favorite in Minnesota. All of the walleye dishes where $19.95 and included soup or salad, choice of potato and vegetable. The soup of the day was tomato basil, which had large chunks of tomato, but could've used more seasoning. Most dinner entrees were $15 and up, but they did offer burgers and sandwiches, which were around $8-$12, so very reasonable. They also had a few beers on draft and offered a full bar for mixed drinks. I ordered the garlic walleye, which was cooked perfectly and came with a side of melted garlic butter. I also tried the panfried walleye, which was by far the best preparation for walleye. A must for next time. The only room for improvement was that the side of green beans looked and tasted like they came out of a can. The Interlachen Inn is open for lunch and dinner and is just a great place to get a casual meal at the lake. read more

Amazing food, super friendly staff. Atmosphere is very cozy, I'm thinking that Friday nights are for live bands, very fun. The decor reminds me of the water, on theme since this is right in between the two lakes. My boyfriend and I both got steaks that were cooked wonderfully! If you have vacationed in Alexandria and haven't been to Interlachen your missing out. It's a must go when we are in the area. I went off the rails and ordered fried chicken I don't know what I was thinking. The chicken was dry and not worth the effort. The sides on the other hand were exceptional I had the French onion soup and the cheesy hash browns. Those two are worth the price of admission. My wife had the queen cut prime rib which was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. My son ordered the walleye sandwich which looked very good and he said it was great. To end the experience my wife ordered a brandy alexander. They are known for their frozen ice cream drinks and this lived up to the hype. It wasn't on the menu of 10-12 drinks the offer but the waitress made it happen. Great service and great happy people when your there. read more

My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant every summer for more than a decade, enjoying their Prime Rib, Walleye, and French Onion Soup. This has been, arguably, Alexandria's best restaurant. Unfortunately, something has gone wrong. Maybe it's the 'Covid-effect.' Fewer customers, corners get cut, people get laid off. New hires aren't fully trained. We've eaten there three times this summer, with disappointing results. Visit #1 was spoiled when ALL of the food for a party of six came out stone cold. The waitress said, 'It's not my fault.' The owner snapped, 'What do you I want me to do about it?' On visit #2, my rib eye, ordered medium rare, came out well done. It was replaced by a tough piece of meat. Last night (7/20/20) my King cut of Prime Rib, ordered medium, came out well done, over seasoned, and chock full of fat. I didn't finish it. Instead, I brought it home for my dog. My wife's Walleye was burned. We chose not to send our food back, as our dining partners were satisfied with their food. But for us? We're done with the Interlachen Inn until they get their act together. Apparently, we're not the only long time customers who feel this way. The restaurant had mostly empty tables at 6PM. read more

This by far is my favorite restaurant in MN. The sides are amazing. You have the homemade chips that are to die for. That's just my favorite but they are all PHENOMENAL. The entrees are some of the best food I've ever had. The burgers are top notch. The buns are slathered in butter and for any burger you should ask for lettuce and tomatoes and pickles automatically come on the side. The fries, if you don't finish them there, are so good to bring home and they taste exactly the same. Also if you choose to get dessert (I highly recommend it) they have some of the best drinks and ice creams in the country. It is definitely one of the best restaurants in the world and I'm not biased because MN is my home state. read more

One of the best steaks in Alexandria. The main Bartender is Great and couple of the servers are great but the rest of the wait staff really suck. It is an attitude issue they make it seem like you do not matter to them and maybe the customers don't?
