Mini Tiramasu or chocolate mousse dessert with whipped cream and salty caramel drizzle.

Food - good Service - Great Ambiance - like a classic dining experience with wooden chairs, harkening back to 80s style country club dining rooms. This place has been here for probably like 80 years and has always been a "destination dinner" in Alexandria, MN. Their shirts and sweatshirts are expensive BUT they're the warmest I've ever had, especially useful in winter or a cold/flu spat. Walleye is I guess better fried than the garlic option (garlic didn't have garlic this time) the au gratin potatoes are wonderfully tasty, caesar salad is good too.

This is my opinion so take it at that. I never send anything back to the kitchen because it's food and I have this thing about my food leaving the table and coming back. I really like this place and go here just for the Prime Rib. It's always been good and have never had any problems but this time I was disappointed from the start. It's a Friday night, I know it's going to busy and it was. I did make reservations for 2 and we were seated on time. This was the first time in a booth, don't get a booth. Unless your a small person, it's going to be really small and uncomfortable for you. The cushions are wore and you sink into them. The decor really needs to be updated. It took 45 minutes to get the first round of drinks and we ordered our meal at that time. The picture shows the curdled dairy in the drink. They really dropped the ball on that drink and did it again on the second drink. Order the king cut Prime Rib and shared it with the wife. The Prime Rib came out 45 minutes after ordering it (now a total of 1.5 hours after being seated) along with the hashbrowns as a side. We also ordered 3 grilled shrimp as a side. As you can see, the hashbrowns side portion was small. The shrimp was small as well and not worth the $5 price tag each. The part I really, really was disappointed with was all the fat on the Prime Rib (in the picture). I know there's fat on a Prime Rib but not like this and then to charge $36 for it. The only good thing about it was it was cooked the way I wanted. I would like to go back but it may be awhile.

The Interlachen Inn has been a stable in Alexandria for decades and is always a favorite stop for our family. We called ahead and got a reservation for six, since the theater is right down the street and the Inn can get pretty filled up most nights in the summer. The waitress was friendly and prompt with our drinks. Most of us ordered the walleye, which is a local favorite in Minnesota. All of the walleye dishes where $19.95 and included soup or salad, choice of potato and vegetable. The soup of the day was tomato basil, which had large chunks of tomato, but could've used more seasoning. Most dinner entrees were $15 and up, but they did offer burgers and sandwiches, which were around $8-$12, so very reasonable. They also had a few beers on draft and offered a full bar for mixed drinks. I ordered the garlic walleye, which was cooked perfectly and came with a side of melted garlic butter. I also tried the panfried walleye, which was by far the best preparation for walleye. A must for next time. The only room for improvement was that the side of green beans looked and tasted like they came out of a can. The Interlachen Inn is open for lunch and dinner and is just a great place to get a casual meal at the lake.

It's really nice inside, but even better was the super friendly service all around! They had the smoker outside and the special was the smoked brisket sandwich. And it was two for one beers, they even split the 'two for one' between us so we could each have just one more of our own beer choice, that was awesome. We started with nachos and agreed that they were one of the best plates of nachos that we've had in awhile. A full place of meaty and cheesy chips and plenty of toppings. Hubby had the smoked brisket sandwich and said the brisket was done very good. Our son had the Lumberjack Burger that he loved, he loves anything that has maple syrup on it! It was a big burger so he took half of it home and ate it later. I had the jalapeño popper burger, I wasn't sure if the name meant that it would have deep fried jalapeños on it and I'm so glad it didn't. My burger came out with a slice of pepper Jack cheese on it that was still cold except for the edges, but they took it back and warmed it up with a torch, actually to the point of burning the cheese, weird, but even so I loved this burger! It had slices of jalapeños and plenty of cream cheese, it was very good, (it actually didn't even need the pepper Jack cheese slice and not sure where that flavor fit in) then I asked for a side of the spicy berry sauce that they serve with the wonton appetizer and it was complete!! Highly recommend that they add this to the burger, or that you request it. Enjoy!

First off we waited for 15 minutes before someone even came to our table. In the meantime a few of us went up to the bar and ordered our own drinks. When the server finally did come, i ordered another beer along with a water, neither of which I ever got. The girls at the table who got soda water in their drinks couldn't even drink them because the water smelled like sewage!! We put in our food order, along with appetizers and specifically asked for them to come out ahead of our dinner. Never happened. They came out after our other food came out. In the meantime I had to go back to the bar to get my own drink...AGAIN. Our server seemed very new and was obviously struggling, while several other servers looked on. The food..less than a 1 for a rating. I had the fish tacos and they fish was basically burnt, low budget fish sticks. Not one person enjoyed the experience there and I can't warn you enough to avoid this place at all costs!! Also, the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting!

This isn't "fine" dining, but more like upscale homemade cooking. Because of the prices and food quality I am giving it 4 stars. (Very good). This isn't a once a year or just special occasion place, it's an every other week place. Can dress casual or nice. Lounge and dining areas, but Lounge is nice. Wood fired grill. Food was just right, not charred, but had a good Smokey flavor (not overwhelming). BBQ meatball apps were great, different nightly specials. Ribs and chicken were great! Ribs fell off the bone, fat had melted away, and bbq sauce was just right. Chicken tender and juicy. Cornbread muffin tasted off the shelf but fine (nice size but need to nail the cornbread as it isn't hard and compliments bbq so well). Drinks were good and priced for 2nd's. My wife loved her Prime Rib sandwich. The popover was sweet and delicious. Great variety on the menu and service was great! Not a place you have to ask for things on the side or can you remove that.
