We love going to lunch at The Other Place for Tuesday Tenderloin sandwich's. They never disappoint!! Kayla H. Usually waits on us. She always has a smile and is a great server because she anticipates what you might need before you ask. We watched her serve several tables during the busy lunch hour with ease. Great restaurant in downtown OP. Super large seating areas plus a back room for events. Prices are great for Happy Hour, see pictures. Many TV's on the walls. We had wings, drinks and dessert tonight. There was a group laying chess too. Service was quick too. read more

Well, disappointing day... Love coming here to eat because of the variety, and one of the best things they used to have as their sides was their french fries. But they changed them to some thick, crinkle fries that are so terrible. So bad. It's so odd why restaurants choose to fix things that are not broken. For sure will affect me coming to eat here in the future. read more

Great service, bar food as you would expect. For some reason, I thought there'll be more, but then again it depends on the size of the place. It's bigger than it looks from the outside. The parking can be a challenge in the area as those that go there frequently will know just be prepared to walk two blocks. Ambience is great for a game. read more

We gathered here for an after work outing for just drinks but ended ordering food too. Our server did a great job keeping up with our orders. Our HH half order of nachos were better than expected & my soup hit the spot. I'm not a fan of their pizza, maybe it's the sauce but my bf liked it. I would return for the HH specials. read more

This place is nostalgic for Me, being the first place in downtown Overland Park my wife and I went to after moving into our nearby apartment. This is a run of the mill sports bar, solid food, solid drinks, and a fun atmosphere and bar that is always good to get some buddies and visit after a day of work for some drinks and to catch a game. The best thing on the menu is easily the mozzarella sticks. I can't imagine finding a better one in downtown OP, much less finding a better one in KC. The Wings, Burgers and some of the subs have all been great, but my fat self is more than content to just get an order of mozzarella sticks and call that a meal. Wings and burgers are also solid and while the pizza doesn't save super well for next day I'd definitely say it's amazing getting it fresh out of the oven and dousing with red pepper flakes and ranch. I love their seasoned fries and tater tots as well Overall, this place is awesome. It's not Michelin Star dining , but I don't ask it to be. Consistently good food (at least the pizzas I've devoured). Located on 83rd you can get in via the front on 83rd OR park in the back, the south side of the OPK farmers market as well. Good tasty pizza with a thick crunchy crust and ingredients that are fresh and do NOT fall off upon you taking a bite. I came in for a quick lunch and left hungry still. The other place offers a lunch menu that seemed to be a good deal until I received my grilled chicken sandwich with what seemed like the smallest chicken breast I've ever had on a sandwich before. The sandwich also came with no sauce on the side, which was odd. My partner order the buffalo wrap and it was actually loaded with chicken and very delicious but of course that wasn't available on the lunch special. Overall my experience was okay and at least the staff was friendly. read more

If I am looking for wings I go to another place (close by). The salads and other foods are not why I am giving 4 stars. However, when I want a pizza at a fair price it's The Other Place. Nothing fancy. This is just straight up traditional pizza. I ask for the thinnest crust well done/crispy. Numerous toppings including white or yellow onion and Canadian bacon. I order sausage and onion (yellow) and they are generous with the toppings. If you want less traditional/millennial pizza go down the street. Great value, great flavor, pick up or if you want great service eat there. Also has plenty of TV's for the game. A very solid 4 star pizza. read more

I've ordered online or by phone and always received good service. The order is ready at the time they quote you at. Food is hot, fresh and pretty good size portions. I love their onion rings and order them every time no matter what I'm ordering. Absolutely do the Maui Pizza. Super delicious. The place is clean, Service is good. The menu is big but I think the Pizza is what they do best. I tried the California Quesadillas (appetizer) and it's a meal in itself. Nice happy hour food. I tried the seasonal cocktail and the Manhattan, both were not good. Neither were balanced in flavor and both were mixed with cheap liquor. read more

We have never been treated so rudely ever by a female bartender in our life. Her name is Stephanie. She obviously hates her job hates to wait on people. She shouldn't be in the people oriented business period, She has runoff more business than the owner could bring in. If the owner had any clue about this, I'm sure he would cut her loose quickly. I've never seen a crowd of people afraid to talk to her because they feel that they won't be served I will never ever ever come back to this place as long as she's working there, so Troy do yourself a favor and fire her you will make more money and have happy customers that would enjoy the atmosphere. read more

We've been coming to The Other Place on Thursdays regularly for w while now and it's all you can ask for in a bar and grill. Lots of TVs, plenty of seating, and all the bar food staples but above average quality. Pizza and wings combo is a go-to and a side of seasoned fries. I do ask for the wings to be extra crispy because I like them a big more well done. A 12" pizza is plenty for a few people and it's thinner crust with lots of cheese. Will be trying the pork tenderloin next time because I saw it pass by and now I'm intrigued! read more

We were there on. A Friday night with my husband. When a new bartender walked in starting her job and immediately had atti've added to she ignored us. She didn't want to wait on it. She told us if it's just a minute with the major attitude. She needs to be working in the kitchen as a dishwasher because she has no clue how to treat a customer, so the owner needs to know this. Her name is Stephanie. She's The ru. Dest, bartender, we have ever dealt with. Since it's been years, I thought it was time for a new review.... There was a period of time that they had some major food and service issues, I'm glad to say that the past year, things have been much more consistent and good. The Other Place is a very popular Iowa Club bar in KC. They have specials for games (including Chiefs) and they're pretty good. We love the taco pizza. The pizza in general is very good. When you walk in, the place does not smell good, as if it needs a deep cleaning. We were really hungry, so we overlooked it. Our party ordered 2 pizzas and a plate of nachos. 2 hairs were found in one of the pizzas, at which point it was sent back. The nachos were visibly burnt, but we were super hungry, so we ate as much as we could stand. They were really not good and 2/3 of the plate went to waste. The server did at least take the hairy pizza off of the bill. Some of us left having lost our appetites, and wound up going to bed hungry. We'll never go back. I'll give this place 2 stars thanks to the kind and helpful server. read more

I usually don't leave reviews for bars but this experience was just so strange that I had to. Went in with a coworker after work on a Monday to grab a beer. I ordered an IPA she got the cider. The drinks come out and hers is poured in a shot glass. That's strange. Takes a sip, it's definitely some kind of apple shot. We think okay just a miscommunication. The waitress comes back and she tells her and I kid you not she says "yeah we are actually out of the cider so I thought I would get you the closest thing." The closest thing that someone would substitute a cider for is a shot????? In what world! Mind blowing. Pleasantly surprised with the Cajun Chicken Cobb salad. The combination of flavors was delicious. I had the cheesy bread. The marinara sauce was chunky the way I like it. I will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items. The service was very good. read more

Awesome service, awesome beers, great prices, and plenty of seating for a packed house. There is very little to dislike about this Downtown OP staple, but the restrooms could use a little more love, and uggggh this is not the same pizza that originated many years ago. I used to CRAVE The OP pizza. Now, I've tried twice and I doubt I'll ever order it again. I would love it if they could find that OG recipe, but it's been many years since I've had that great original sauce and pie. I have eaten here twice and gotten takeout twice as well. The pizza is probably the best thing I've had on their menu. Went on a Sunday around noon. Bartenders were great with good service. Moved to a table when some others joined us. If it hadn't been for the bartender helping out on our table of five, this would be a 3. Our server was in over her head and there were only like 5 tables she was working. Now the food. Ordered a sampler platter which had tenders, shrooms, cheese sticks and onion rings. All were good but those cheese sticks are the bomb. We also shared a medium pepperoni which was delicious. Baked perfect with a little brown on the cheese and crispy pepperoni. Will definitely be back and this would've been a 5 if not for lack of table service. read more

We went last night with a large party. The server was good and handled the large party well. The food...so I got the chicken fingers and fries. The fries were so salty, after one you couldn't eat anymore. Chicken was really good. My friend got an Italian sandwich, the bread was burnt, zero sauce and the meat looked dehydrated. I was here for a pickup order and multiple employees had passed me and didn't acknowledge me. Finally when an employee was in front of me, I said something and no acknowledgment was made they didn't even look at me. even an employee further in the kitchen noticed when they were drinking something and didn't say anything just looked at me and turned away. My bf and I went here the first time and sat at the bar and the bartender was very rude and not a welcoming presence at all. Needless to say I will never go back here or the other place location. The food is not good at all and the round bar table with the tvs way above you isn't a good experience. read more
