Pretty decent comfort food. I like the chicken katsu and agedashi tofu. The "noodle bowl" is just okay -- an aspirational bowl of spicy ramen with the standard fixins. The egg is always offensively over cooked, and the meat is a bit over cooked as well. I have ordered the noodle bowl for carry out before, and the noodles were placed in the same container as the broth, which led to soggy and bloated ramen after I got home. For what it's worth, I've never seen an asian person working there, which doesn't sit quite right with me... although they may well have asian employees that I've never seen. Wonderful BYOB with delicious sushi...We quickly became regulars when we lived in Bethlehem because the sushi was fresh and affordable. Unforunately, we moved out of the area, but nonetheless still crave the crab wantons and shamas roll! The mango salsa is absolutely fabulous. Not super impressed. I figured since this place was a 'hole in the wall' that the prices would be decent but its the same or maybe more expensive than most sushi places around here. The Other Fish is by far the best sushi place I have ever eaten at in my life. I don't even remember how I came across this place, but I am so glad I found it. I live over the boarder, right outside of Phillipsburg so for me to come here is a little bit of a hike. However, any time I am in the area I get food from here. The sushi is buttery soft and so flavorful. And the ability to pretty much create any sort of sushi roll that I want is so much fun. The owner, Matt, is very friendly and likes to have fun making whatever creation you can come up with. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because of the size of the facility. I do like to eat out and would definitely come here more often if the facility was baby friendly. It's just too small to accommodate even a high chair without feeling super cramped. read more

I really love this place and I've been an avid customer since their origins at the Dancing Fish. Some of their rolls are the best I've ever had. I've used them for a number of different private parties and have had rave reviews from the guests. My only qualms are that it's a tad pricey and the restaurant is way too crammed (which I guess is part of its charm), so I usually do takeout when I crave the yuri roll! They have these weird hours and the day I went it was my second day being there because the day before thy weren't open. Whatever you do, don't go to The Other Fish! The Itamae (That's the dude that makes the rolls) kept sniffing the fish, I guess to make sure it didn't stink too badly. And he had a very unusual technique of picking up the entire roll and licking across the edge, like he was hand-rolling a giant rice cigarette. When "Matt" wasn't dropping cigarette ashes in the food he was making he was slugging beers, each slug ending with a resounding belch, a proud smile and a thumbs up from the Itamae. The rest of the crew seemed to be pretty "gassy" too in their own way. Especially that "Yuri" fellow, I swear he must have had cabbage and rotten eggs for lunch! When I asked if I could get a Tuna Nori Roll- the server asked "ya want Solid White or Chunk Light?" Seriously? But the number one reason why you should never go to The Other Fish?... The place is very small (don't go if you are claustrophobic). People were friendly but it wasn't enough to make up for poorly created sushi rolls (mine had so little rice it fell apart) and way overpriced compared to other fantastic sushi restaurants in the valley. They have a huge menu with a varied selection of rolls, sushi, bowls, appetizers, etc. It's a whole experience to sit at the bar and watch the chefs in action. Good crowd of people. If you want room to stretch your legs and distended gut, go to Applebee's. If you want fresh sushi prepared by a real master chef, come here (or they deliver). I could not count my number of visits to TOF, but I can certainly count the number of times I've been disappointed: zero. And I didn't just fall off a turnip truck. The food is consistently fresh, prepared skillfully and tastes better than anything you will find in the area. Period. Bragging about having had better sushi in NY or Philly does not impress. Spicy tuna so perfect it melts in your mouth... that's impressive. Just a note: the staff often adds items to the menu which were created by patrons, some of which contain non-traditional ingredients. As with the regular items, the ingredients of these are listed on the menu. If you don't like what's in a particular item, don't order it. Or ask for it to be omitted. You can even request a special roll with your own choice of ingredients. Try that at a pretentious NY restaurant. I recommend you stick to a bowl of rice if your sense of taste has been mollified by supermarket "sushi". Danger - there is flavor here, and a very accommodating staff. Ambience... not so much... but the food more than makes up for a lack of sparkly fixtures. And... that's what it's all about, yes? read more

I ate here last week while in town for work. Living in FL and frequently traveling domestically and internationally, I have had some amazing sushi and it takes a lot for me to rate a sushi place 5 stars; however, this place totally deserves it! First off...the ambiance of it being in a small space with the bar and a few small tables and it's older interior made me feel like I was in a sushi place I visited in Thailand. Secondly, the staff was great and very welcoming. Finally...the food. So delicious, so fresh. I had a salad topped with crab and my coworker has a salad that was filled with generous portions of veggies and avocado. The salads are big enough to split one. As for the sushi, I can't recall exactly which ones we ordered, but we had 5 different rolls (mix of cooked and raw) and each one was perfect. Service is quick and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. The only drawback is we found out it's BYOB after arriving there, which is totally fine...Thats not a thing in my state so I didn't even know that existed...now we know and can bring some sake next time! Terrible sushi! People who like it have not had good sushi before. They use cheap products, have a sloppy form and it's way too salty. The tuna is not a piece of fresh shashimi, but rather a mayonnaise-like goop that is terrible. The "crunch" was on the inside of the roll....so it wasn't crunchy.
