This place is amazing! We stopped in yesterday while visiting Frederick and were so blown away by all of the tasty popcorn flavors. The staff working there were very friendly and let us try as many flavors as we wanted. Our favorites were the loaded baked potato and the salt and vinegar popcorn. They also had a special for July (Christmas in July) where they brought back a lot of their popular holiday flavors. We tried some of these as well and they were super tasty, but ultimately we wanted savory popcorn so we got a bag of the loaded baked potato and movie theatre butter. Will definitely be back! read more

Calling all POPCORN LOVERS, this one is for us! Customer Service-Great experience! I was greeted when I came in and was provided with suggestions and pricing options. Food-We tried the Birthday Cake, Cookies & Cream, Caramel & Cheese Mix, and the Classic Butter. They have so many sweet and savory flavors to choose from. Now ya'll know I'm an OG popcorn lover, so I loved having lots of options. The sweet flavors I tried were a little TOO sweet for me-but if sweet popcorn is your thing, YOU might be the target audience. Give them a try and decide for yourself!!! Then there's the classic BUTTER... and have mercy, whew!!!! It was SUPER salty. Now listen, I like some salt on my popcorn, but this was overly salty. I tasted more of the salt than the butter flavor. Ambiance-Very aesthetically pleasing!!! Love the decor!!!! Parking-Rough street parking that is like trying to find Waldo #90snostalgia read more

The popcorn was so good! I got 2 bags of popcorn- the cheddar a the loaded potato! Everything looked delicious though! My friend got the crabby caramel and that was really yummy too! read more

Love this place. Wish they had a location closer but my wallet and waistline are good with occasional trips. Big fan of the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup I recently tried for the first time. And their salt n vinegar is a staple in our house. read more

This small store is worth stopping by. There are a variety of savory and sweet flavors. There would be something for everyone. I go the maple butter and tomato and grilled cheese. Both were surprisingly perfect. Be prepared for tight space and lines during peak times! read more

I ordered the dark chocolate sea salt popcorn and it tasted like pure salt. It was as if I was eating g salt balls covered with chocolate. The peanut butter chocolate wasn't as salty but still had an overwhelming taste of salt. Won't go back. read more

I love TOPH, perhaps a litttle too much because every time hubs goes to get inked nearby, I insist he bring home a bag of the peanut chocolate drizzle popcorn. It's crack, quite literally. We've tried a number of their other flavors, but our go-to are that and the kettle corn. We even stopped by on a Saturday and kindly let my kiddos sample a couple flavors. They had a July 4th special going on (buy 2 bags and get 1 free). Def worth a stop if you're in the area! read more

The popcorn house is such a cute little shop. They have so many different flavors of popcorn you can choose from. You can also sample the popcorn before deciding on which one you want. We opted for a tin of the caramel, cheddar bacon popcorn, and birthday cake flavored corn. All were quite tasty. Customer service was great. The lady who served us was very friendly and let my children try which ever flavor of popcorn they wanted. I highly recommend this popcorn shop for anyone who is a fan. read more

I've searching for a good popcorn maker since Garrett's closed their NYC location a couple of years back. I did some research and came across The Original Popcorn House site last week. Based on the reviews, I decided to order the House Mix. OMG. Yum, yum, yum. I am all in. They have found a new customer. It was shipped quickly in a brown resealable bag and tastes as fresh as can be. My hubby and I can't stopped eating it. We will have to order some more in the near future. I will definitely be ordering for family and friends. It's affordable and extremely tasty and I am a popcorn fanatic. So I know what I am talking about. Give them a try, you won't regret it. read more

WHAT! How long has this place been in existence?? Because I was walking by and noticed it and wanted to stop in. I had otherwise never heard of it. We went in and the very nice woman working there was offering us samples of anything we wanted to try. They were all very excellent (I liked the movie theater butter flavor!) but it was game over when I tried the spicy buffalo. Spicy is hard to do. You have to make it spicy enough, but also have a good flavor. They delivered. I got some to go, and I'm eating it as I write this review, and already ready to go back and get more. So yum. read more

The ultimate in popcorn snaking experience. Your miles may vary depending on your love for popcorn, but Original Popcorn House takes a wide breath of different takes on the classic snack food. Flavors come in sweet, savory, salty, and spicy, and the plain popcorn tastes fresh, with a satisfyingly crunch when bitten. Popcorn House is bringing new monthly/seasonal flavors that can be hits or misses, but are rarely boring. The only real direction I see missing from the pile are hot-popcorn varieties (served freshly popped). That being said, I've had popcorn purchased from Popcorn House last me a week and still taste newly popped up until the last bite. The price of the popcorn is high, so expect a sticker shock if it's your first visit, especially if you want one of their decadent chocolate covered popcorn flavors. This is a "treat your self" type of a snack. While not stirring waves in the world of snacking, Original Popcorn House set out to make unique and tasty popcorn treats and hit their mark. read more

I LOVE popcorn so when I was in Frederick for business- I was so happy to see the Original Popcorn House on Market Street. We went in and saw the array if flavors and smelled popcorn popping. Few flavors had any appeal - I tried the movie thester - WAY too salty. I tried the caramel - they give you 3 kernels for a taste - and reluctantly decided to get some of that. I didn't notice prices posted anywhere (later saw them inconspicuously posted) and ordered a medium. Then I smelled popcorn being popped and asked for a small of that and added some salt. I was stunned when a small and medium popcorn rang up at $25!!!! I said nothing, paid and left. After a few real bites of the caramel - I threw it away. It quickly tasted a bit like popcorn that had a funny, sweet shellacked taste. The plain popcorn was OK - though the big kernels had BIG husks. A smaller kernel makes MUCH better popcorn. I thought buying popcorn at the movies was expensive - until encountering this store - and real movie popcorn is (almost always) much better. D Adams read more

Stumbled upon this popcorn store while visiting Frederick. The staff was super patient with our questions and even let us try flavors. Their flavor selection was huge and I settled on a spicy dill pickle and Buffalo chicken mix. Sounds odd together but the salt and spice was delicious to me. The popcorn was fresh and the flavors were unique and not something I could replicate on my own. Would highly recommend for a snack as you walk around the water and downtown! read more

The Original Popcorn House - Loved the variety of tins for sale! Great idea for a gift! - Popcorn Shops Near Me - Frederick, Maryland

Be warned - if you don't ask about pricing, you will experience some "sticker shock," (unless you've read this review in advance.) Prices aren't posted for a reason, I guess. Don't get me wrong, the flavors are unique and very tasty. But if you think movie theatre popcorn is grossly overpriced, you ain't seen nothin' yet! Got the (sweet) smores and (savory) bacon cheddar this past weekend and was definitely pleased with the flavors. A unique treat, but it can't be a place that I frequent regularly. Took each of my selections home in a 1/2 gallon tin...$47!!! Have you ever paid $47 for a "gallon" of popcorn, no matter how good it is? It's still popcorn...mostly air! They do have a loyalty club and you can refill the tins for some discounts. If you love this place that much, definitely take advantage of whatever break you can get. Anyway, enjoy it as a once-in-a-while treat, like lobster or a great steak, but now you know. read more

Delicious birthday cake popcorn! Went in with my three children today for the first time. We tried 3 flavors and we all decided on birthday cake. I asked for the "small" bag that I was under the impression was $6 something. Nope.. $13.. "that's belgian chocolate and so it is not $6." I was shocked and embarrassed. I felt tricked. Pricing should be clear. I sent them a message about my experience. It was read, but no response. read more

Love this place! First let say the staff here is amazing. Great customer service. I wish I remembered who helped us, he was a tall young man but he was so friendly and helpful. They let you sample all the flavors and they have a big selection of savory and sweet popcorn. You can purchase different sizes and they also ship! I got the dill pickle and it was very good. I will definitely be back soon! read more

Came here a few days ago and I appreciated the cleanliness. The staff was VERY friendly and guided us in trying new flavors. At one point, a phone alarm was going off and the staff took his glove off to turn the alarm off, threw away the old glove and grabbed a new one. I got the loaded baked potato, salt and vinegar, and cheddar in a 2 gallon. And added a small bag of the beer and lime. I couldn't help but get the tin- which means, I will be back for my discounted refill! read more

I will only eat popcorn if it's flavored, so The Original Popcorn House is totally up my alley. Their loaded baked potato popcorn is LEGIT. And I like that you can sample everything and that they have a variety of sizes (although almost $7 for a mini bag of the chocolate flavors is a bit steep). Today was their soft opening and it was a little chaotic with such a small storefront and a strange layout where you work your way to the side and rear to see the menu, then work your way back to the front to pay. Totally doable when you're one of a few customers, but a bit like the Metro Center station during rush hour when it's crowded. read more

Really good popcorn and the perfect treat!!!! It's a little pricey but you can't go wrong. The caramel corn is the best!!

Best popcorn I've ever had! I got the 0.5 Gallon Build a Tin with cinnamon kettle, salt and vinegar and buffalo blue cheese. All 3 were amazing but my fave was the salt and vinegar! Can't wait to try the dill pickle next! read more

Yes. The popcorn is awesome. But $40+ for a popcorn that is smaller than what you get at the movies! Come on folks.

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere is amazing and the owners are so kind. I am an extremely picky person and they were extremely patient with me allowing me to try whatever popcorn I asked. They also gave great recommendations. Their popcorn is of great quality and they have a wide range of flavors. It is also very reasonably priced with a large range of different sizes. read more

DELICIOUS! My apartment building handed out their popcorn as a gift to residents. My wife and I were craving popcorn, so we went back a few weeks later and picked up some for ourselves for a movie night and we were so impressed. We got dark chocolate sea salt, salt and vinegar and garlic Parmesan. All were to DIE FOR! Highly recommend! Clean store, friendly staff! We're so excited to go back and try other flavor. Ordered curbside pick up for an 4 pack of 1/2 gallon party packs of the dill pickle, birthday cake, loaded baked potato, and smokey bacon cheddar. All four flavors were delicious and perfect special treat to add to COVID movie night. Definitely recommend and can't wait for them to be open post-COVID so we can head in to sample & shop in store. read more
