Great marketing - we were wandering through town and saw a bunch of people with their bags, which made us curious. We popped in and immediately started jamming to the music - yes, a bunch of 50something women dancing to Madonna and some 1990s old skool R & B bop. To thank them for use of their clean bathroom, I ended up buying $15 worth of gourmet popcorn. WHYYYYYYY? This kind of threw me back to my childhood. This store has everything. I mean each section I turned to had something different. Yeah, it is a large organized store. I believe they make a lot of their own confectionaries there and I would love to try some at some point, especially the fudge. They have mugs, books, candies, clothes, and a lot more. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was that my wife wanted to buy a MD flag apron after seeing an ad for it on sale as a gift to a friend. The price was different than what was posted. The salesperson called the manager and then the owner to see what is what. It turns out they posted a different picture in the ad and the price was about $10 difference. The owner would not honor the mistake. Now I do understand it was a mistake, but when you make a mistake and draw a customer in, I personally would have honored that price and corrected the online mistake. But that's just me. We ended up buying it at a higher price anyway because that's what we were there for. But otherwise it was a pleasant experience strolling down memory lane to an old style candy shop. read more

This isn't just a popcorn store. They have a variety of flavored glass bottled sodas including the wacky flavors (sweet corn, buffalo wing, etc.). There are also a ton of coasters, t-shirts, hoodies, etc. with every iteration of the Maryland flag and/or crabs on them. There are also hot cinnamon nuts at the counter. I appreciate that the popcorn wall has samples to try the flavors. You can sort of read what the flavors are by the ingredient list, but I wish there was an actual description of the flavors because its broken down into their parts. I got one that looked like mostly caramel corn and dark and/or milk chocolate and the sample I tried was that. But after getting it home I realized it was also white chocolate which I'm not a fan of. One of the new businesses to show up in Old Ellicott City after the flood of 2016, we can't be more happy they're here! They bring something new to the never-ending antique stores and boutiques, and we make sure to stop by them every visit. E.C. Pops is a popcorn store with a touch of that 1950's candy store and soda shop. Their main seller is their popcorn which comes in dozens of flavors, from sweet to salty to savory (and everything between). There's a LOT of flavor (no "lightly dusted" here) and the candied popcorns aren't too hard on the teeth like some places. All of it is popped ~on site~, and they don't leave it laying around on the shelf for long, so you know its fresh. Even better, they have dishes of each flavor so you can sample and find which ones you like! They also have a ton of other sweets, from a wall of Jelly Belly jelly beans, jars of gummies (which you can also sample), fudge, lollipops, etc. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll find plenty to satisfy here, from chocolate to jawbreakers! Add into this all sorts of knick-knacks to hold candy, popcorn, etc. in and it's like being in Honeydukes from "Harry Potter". My particular favorite, though, is the wall of flavored sodas. No Coke, 7-Up, Mountain Dew, etc. here... we're talking everything from classics to the weird. A variety of Nehi, Dad's, etc. flavors for those missing those days of yore. They also have unique brands that have special flavors like Kiwi, Honey Ginger Lime, etc. (These are hit or miss - do NOT get the "bacon"-flavored one!) My two favorites? Brownie Caramel Cream Root Beer (so tasty) and Flying Cauldron's Butterscotch Beer (as close to Butterbeer as you'll get outside of Orlando Studios!). What's really great is they have each of these sodas in an old-fashioned cooler, so you can buy a cold one, pop the top, and drink it right there (or as you walk Main Street)! We already mentioned "knick-knacks", but there is so much there. Candy dishes, popcorn tubs, noise-makers (hide them from your kids!), desk gadgets, etc., etc. Each time you go in, there's so many things to see and you can't help but grab something new to add to your total. E.C. Pops is probably the greatest addition to Main Street Ellicott. They've brought something new, convenient, and (comparatively) reasonably-priced. We stop there once a week and always end up getting more than we thought! If you're passing through EC, especially walking on a beautiful day, you cannot complete your experience without stopping here. read more

Kind of what I'd consider a sleeper hit in Ellicott City! It's not on the main street but just off a little to the side and we originally weren't going to try any of the popcorn as we were just browsing the whole store but boy did they have some yummy sounding flavors. I tried the bavarian cream donut flavor and honestly I walked out of there immediately after with the $14 tall bag. You can see where they make the popcorn so it's cool to know they make it in-house! read more

This is a welcomed addition to Downtown Ellicott City. They focus on popcorn...and not just your run of the mill Cheddar popcorn. They have flavors that range from loaded potato to Oreo Cookie popcorn. The best part of this place is that if you are unsure of the flavor you want, just try them. There are samples of all the flavors. What are my favorite flavors? Well I thought you would never ask. I think the Birthday Cake and the salted chocolate are the ish. The Birthday Cake popcorn is like crack. You can't eat just one. All of the popcorn is made in the store and the people that work there are super friendly. Never thought I'd love a gourmet popcorn place this much! I came in one day very soon after they opened and there were 3 people(I assume the owners) standing there just talking. No one else was in the store but as soon as I came in they welcomed me and told me all about their popcorn and other products. Wonderful people and fantastic customer service. But what can you expect from a Main Street small business? The store's aesthetic really has it going on! The whole store is decked out with this sorta 50s or 60s candy store vibe and the music they play matches the decor perfectly. I find myself dancing like an idiot each time I pass by the store even if I don't go in. The popcorn, which is what we all care about, is delicious!! I grabbed some Pina Colada flavored popcorn not expecting much, but I was extremely surprised! They make it in house and it is the stuff of dreams. Give them your patronage because they certainly deserve it just because of their kind manners. read more

I have always loved visiting this store when shopping in OEC. However, this time around I purchased some of their pumpkin walnut fudge, and was very underwhelmed by the flavor when I tried it later that evening at home. It had only the barest hint of pumpkin, and I actually would've been fine with it if it had just tasted like vanilla walnut instead, but honestly, it tasted like absolutely nothing. I even had several family members try it to make sure it just wasn't me, but we all agreed, it was bland and tasteless. Spent nearly $7 on something I ended up throwing in the trash. read more

Great popcorn AND run by great people. We bought a few bags of popcorn and it started raining outside. I was with my cousin and her baby and we had a stroller- the man working helped us out of the store, offered us an umbrella and stopped traffic to help us across the street with the stroller. I went here during spring fest and I thought the vibe and decor of the store was tasteful and inviting. However, the popcorn was stale due to the humidity of the day. My suggestion would be to vacuum seal each bag, rather than using a twist tie, to ensure the quality of the popcorn. I also want to state that I've seen the owner outside smoking right next to the front door. I don't care that the owner chooses to smoke, but right at the entrance to the store is off-putting. read more

During our visit today, we bought a small bag of crab flavored popcorn and a large bag of dill pickle. The crab seasoned popcorn was stale and not very flavorful. The dill pickle however was much fresher and had better taste. They have raised their prices, to the point where $9 for a bag of popcorn is a bit out of my range as a poor college student. When we went into their second store, there was no employee in the shop, which felt a bit weird. There was more product than room to move around and the shop smelled liked cigarettes. read more

I'm not sure how to rate this place. The popcorn is good. Definitely overpriced, but good. The interaction with the owner - well, he acted a bit arrogant and seemed like he could use a lesson or two in customer service. I also have a hard time taking my kids into the store with some of the vulgar language written on a number of the other things they sell. Definitely cover their eyes at least. It also seems like they sell a lot of things in their store that I see in other stores on Main Street, so that idea of shopping and finding original things at each store down there seems to be disappearing. Popcorn in flavors you would never think of, all made in-house! Their Old Bay caramel corn in just the right amount of caramel sweetness with a tang of Old Bay. The salt and vinegar popcorn was fantastic! I ended up buying the dark chocolate sea salt popcorn for my daughter-in-law who is waiting so patiently for their baby to be born. The perfect balance of sweet and salty. And all of the different popcorns are available to be tasted. So yummy! read more

This place is really cute and fun! I love all of the different types of popcorn and that you can sample each flavor before buying. They have more traditional types (like cheddar and caramel) and really creative ones too (like jalapeno and old bay). I ended up getting the salt and vinegar popcorn and it was delicious! I am a local and happy to shop here at EC Pops. I find the people friendly and the products pretty cool. Its nice to see the volume of people come and go thru the front door as I drive past. I hope each purchases a little something to help the owners out. Its nice to see new shops coming to Main Street after last summers flood. Today I purchased some fudge that I recently saw added to their items sold. Taste good but usually when I purchase fudge on my beach or mountain trips half the fun for my purchase is choosing my fudge, talking to the sales clerks and watching them cut and weigh my fudge. This is just something I would prefer to purchasing the prepackaged items. Happy to see the success these last 6 months of the new store. read more

I must say.. letting a fake bear sit in the middle of the side walk was bad idea. Kid friendly huh? My 6ry old and 4yr wouldn't walk down the side walk. Not to mention the music was way to loud. Went to Main Street with friends and kids. So happy this town is coming back to life but..... as the kids went to enter EC. Pops they stopped because a man was smoking in the front, my friends waited a few minutes for this person to stop, then went in. As they were shopping the same man came over and introduced himself as the owner! They were shocked! He then proceeded to tell my friends how "great" he was for Main Street! He also told my friends that the store was new and has introduced a lot of new products to Main Street, yet my friends said it was the same stuff as everyone except for the popcorn! I hope the owners read this because they need to know that the smoking part is disgusting but then to come across arrogant is bad business! Some of the furniture and antique stores have product outside but the front of this store looks like s flea market! Love this place. This store has been a great, new edition to Ellicott City, especially after many stores were wiped out, after the 2016 flood. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. They have 2 stores next to each other. One store sells a variety of popcorn, candy, stuffed animals, and other interesting items. The other store has local styled clothing and other items for adults and kids, such as Maryland flag styled clothes, crab themed clothes, Old Bay themed clothes and items, the Natty Boh guy themed clothes and items, and more. They keep getting in new and interesting items, so when I keep going back, there is so much more to choose from. I probably sound like a salesman, but I just get excited about this place. read more

If I could I would give this place -5 stars. The man working was so rude to be. I work up the street and the owner of my store and their store do not get along. Which has nothing to do with me I was literally giving them business. I still bought what I came for even though I was treated like I had done something wrong.
