When I came to pick up my dress, I tried it on and it wasn't as fitted as I was hoping for. I talked to the owner, Le, and said it wasn't to my satisfaction and he was willing to alter it for no additional charge. I have been to other seamstresses who will charge for additional alterations if you are dissatisfied with their service. Although the alterations were higher than other tailor shops I have gone to, their customer satisfaction compensates for it.

It's difficult for me to get my boyfriend to step into an actual store, or buy something vintage ("If its used, should it be cheaper?"), so its best that I come here alone and bring back what he doesn't want. I always end up asking a bunch of questions when I'm here- usually about sizing. When the owner is in the shop, he is warm and super friendly and helpful. There is another employee who always seems annoyed that I have the nerve to ask about an item; I really can't take that type of attitude. Customer service, man! I'm hesitant to dock Sixteen Tons a star because of this one guy's attitude. The owner has true vision and really caters to his clientele. He has helpful tips (more ties coming in next week!), good suggestions (how about a cool vintage belt for the guy who has everything?) and asks the right questions to really try to understand who you're buying for. What I enjoyed is the organization of their products. Makes things so much easier when shopping. It seemed that there was more items at this store from tops in my size to handbags. I found a couple of things to try on...the fitting rooms are big and having different hooks made it easier to sort the items that I wanted to take vs pass on. I ended up buying two handbags, three shirts and a pair of Nike shoes. The shoes was the best purchase because I had been eyeing the same model but just in different colors. It was hard to justify since I didn't know if the shoes were going to be comfortable. Lo and behold....they were here at Uptown. They were my size, very comfortable and it looked like they had never been worn. SCORE! Plus, they were under $50, making them almost three times less expensive than what they originally run for. Staff was friendly during our time shopping at the store. Parking was plentiful since this store is in a shopping center. Too bad I live in on opposite side of the country, but I will definitely come back again.
