Been eating there for years, had my sons first bday catered and once again....Best food, best service! Nothing else to say!

I have been coming here for six years, but after tonight, I'm never coming in again. I walked in at 7:15PM they close at 7:30PM) and instead of being greeted kindly, I was told "We are closed! Get out of here"! If I wasn't hungry, I would have just left. I'm very disappointed. read more

The food used to be better. Customer service used to be friendlier. Very rude, arrogant, disrespectful workers throughout the entire place. They make you feel like you're bothering them by giving them your order. Fireside had a coupon on grubhub that they no longer honor, but haven't removed it yet when shown proof it's still up there and all is paid for they then tell you it's extra. I am not sure what happened to this place, but it's gone downhill the last few years from taste to overall customer satisfaction. My younger brother asked me to get him a hero. When I asked him where he responded "Fireside!" Never heard of it but I still went to pick up his hero. When I pulled up I noticed the place didn't look all that much like a deli. It looked like a restaurant at first glance. I was shocked. Entering the establishment I noticed how clean it was. Everything was in its place and the store was set up with islands of food everywhere. That's great to see the care that the staff showed the location. I love it when people value what they do. The staff was incredibly friendly. They asked can they help and spoke to a lot of the people in the store. I was surprised how fast they serviced people, but really why would I when these guys care about the place so much. Maybe they own it? Anyway. The sandwich I got my brother didn't look special. It wasn't stuffed as much as I would have hoped. I took a bite and it was good. They have everything so this can be a one stop deli. I might pop in again to see if they come up with some creative sandwich selections. read more

Decided to try Fireside as I've heard good things. It was mediocre at best. There are 2 lines, one for hot stuff and one for cold sandwiches. It's confusing. The sandwiches are a little on the skimpier side but the lower price justifies it. I most likely will not return as there are many other options around. read more

Eh... 3 stars was pushing it. More like 2.5, every time i come in for lunch there is nothing that ever catches my eye. I've had the chic pea salad but its way too oily. I've had the soup which is way too watery... Bottled and canned drinks are overpriced. I originally came here bc it said "JUICE BAR" out front but don't even bother.... That part of the store is closed down and closed off. NO JUICES HERE. Staff was dull and parking lot sucks!! read more

I want to begin this review with an explanation as to why I am giving them such a poor rating. It's all about customer service or in this matter, lack of. My family, that is my wife and I my son and his family as well as my daughter and her family have frequented this caterer, take out restaurant for many years. When we don't feel like cooking we often visit Fireside for takeaway. I'm talking 3 separate families buying their take out food. One of our favorite foods are their ribs. Usually very good and the ribs I purchased yesterday is what generated this review. My wife usually buys their food so I was unfamiliar with what to expect. I know what my wife buys so I began with what I knew. I went to the counter and asked the man for a rack of ribs not too well done. He began looking thru what he had and said you want them well done. I responded no, not well done. He found a great rack of ribs cut them up and placed them in a take out container. He asked if there would be anything else and I asked for the ribs sauce I knew came with the ribs.I requested 2 small cups and he gave me the sauce. Later that evening my wife and heated the ribs and began to add the sauce and discovered it was hot sauce. What is this? My wife asked me where the bar b que sauce was. We did without, ate several ribs and this morning I called the restaurant and spoke to a woman named Rose. I explained my dilemma and she said I could return the unused hot sauce for the proper sauce. I drove to Fireside and gave what I had to Rose. That's when what should have been a simple exchange turned into a very uncomfortable exchange of ideas. In a nutshell; she told me I requested hot sauce from the server who was now waiting on customers. I said no way did I request something we never use. This went back and forth for about 10 minutes she walked away, returned, walked away again etc. All the time this was going on other customers were watching. There came a time when I said I think what happened here is your server didn't understand me She wouldn't give up. As I was about to walk out another man came over, said something to her and he gave me what I wanted. In my long life I have never interacted with such a foolish person in a position of authority.. She has no concept with regard to customer service and I'm talking about 2--2 ounce cups of sauce. The end result of my interaction with Rose today: I will never again purchase anything from Fireside. I will advise my family as to what happened today and chances are we will all find another restaurant with take away service with friendlier employees. AS I was leaving another customer said "I do not believe what you just went thru for a couple of cups of sauce. That woman is dumb" His words not mine. Oh and their food isn't worth having to interact with Rosa again. They are convenient but very expensive. read more

Time and time again counter help is rude and aggressive. They seem to be unhappy with their job and take it out on the customers. So far 5 different employees have been obnoxious to either myself or another customer. Girl behind the register was very pleasant. Plenty of other deli's around, not worth the abuse to come here. read more

A deli on steroids, really. Although the sandwiches aren't the most creative, they are plentiful and filled with Boar's Head meats. Where Fireside really sets itself apart from other deli's is with their HUGE hot food counter serving ribs, different kinds of fresh chicken, wings, daily specials and great sides. This is my Sunday football take out spot. For $20-25, you can walk away with either two whole chickens or a chicken and a rack of ribs. Each comes with three large sides. It's enough food to keep you on the couch for a while...even while watching a Jet game. read more

First. I have a confession - I LOVE SANDWICHES. So, after passing by this place numerous times, I decided it was a must go. Now, the day i finally went I actually planned to get pizza. Due to an awful selection, I left the pizza place and, while I was started to get crazed with hunger, I made my way to fireside. Fate guided me to my sandwich. So, there I was. It turns out that 4 pm is not a prime lunch time because when I walked in I was the ONLY soul there. And the place is HUGE inside (this ain't no average deli)! On my right was a whole counter of food - chicken, mashed, veggies, a salad bar. But I went straight ahead to the deli counter. It took me a few minutes to read the novella of sandwiches on the board but the guys behind the counter were very nice. They helped me decide and were pleased with the joy I took in my sandwich (and how ridiculously big the smile on my face gets in front of a deli counter). I ended up with a slammin hero - breaded chicken cutlet, bacon, Swiss, lettuce & mayo all on garlic bread. It was delicious . . . though the garlic bread was a little heavy on the garlic (coming from someone who lovesss garlic). Now, I also confess, I think my sandwich may have tasted better in part due to starvation and in part due to my pizza places failure. Either way, I was and am utterly happy with Fireside's sweet success. And I plan to go back plenty of times (though I have learned to avoid garlic bread in the middle of the work day). 1st of all when people behind a grill don't wear hair net you are bound to get hair on the food!!! I ordered a bacon egg cheese sandwich went to the car open it and took a bite of the sandwich and saw a hair sticking out the other side of the sandwich couldnt stomach it! Not today! Not anyday! Went right back and ask for my money back. I think the law requires people behind a grill to use hair net! Well in nyc they do! I arrived at fireside at 7:29 pm, thinking they were open until 8:00 (cause that's what yelp said). Although closing time was 7:30 (clearly posted) and the door was locked, they let me in and asked what I needed. Within minutes, they put together an order as close to what I asked for as they could. I called Fireside fairly late on Saturday to order a party platter for a family gathering that we would not be able to attend because we live out-of-state. David took the order.He expressed concern about my fairly tight delivery window, but he assured me he'd get it there on time. And he did. As if my previous review wasn't bad enough...A coworker went here a few days ago for an egg sandwich. The woman behind the counter cracked the eggs, and then with the same glove stuck her hand into the tortellini salad and ate it from her hand. She proceeded to put the signs out in front of all of the salads and finished making my coworkers sandwich still with the same gloves on. Great deli-style sandwiches that I usually don't eat, but I always take a bite from my hubby to try ;) very tasty! I usually go for the custom salads. The only place I have found so far that offers Manhattan style custom salads, where you pick your type of base greens and then all the ingredients/add-ons. They actually have alfalfa sprouts on their list - very impressive! And they chop the finished salad - wow. I wish places in Manhattan did that LOL, would make eating while working so much easier ;) Not sure if a deli should really get 4 stars (3.5 seems more fair overal) but if looking just at delis, it's definitely a 4. read more

Ok, so I work in a CPA firm. We're in the heart of tax season. It's a Saturday & we're all on our 6th straight day. We forgot to order lunch! We called Fireside & spoke to Dave. We needed to feed about 30 people in an hour! They accommodated us TREMENDOUSLY!!! All delivered before an hour. The food was amazing!!! If rock hard rolls and bad deli meat is to your liking, you'll like this place. I just threw out a $7 sandwich. Asked for low salt Turkey and got some multi colored Turkey with what looked like jelly on the outside. Not even sure what it was, but it was definitely bad and definitely wasn't low salt turkey. All around fine deli. I don't even know if I would consider it a deli because they have a large section where they sell grocery and household items as well. I went on a Sunday and unfortunately they do not serve to "make your own custom salad" on weekends (?). I can see the store getting crowded, but people love a make your own salad every day of the week! I settled for one of the pre-made salads. I chose Balsamic Chicken salad for $4.50. The chicken was marinated delicious and it was quite large and came with delicious roasted red peppers. It was pretty filling. In the same section with pre-made salads there were pre-made wraps, sandwiches, fruit cups, yogurt parfaits and that kind of stuff. My bf got a turkey sandwich. The bread was very soft and fresh and the turkey portion was generous. They had a huge spread of hot food and you can always request them to make any other hot items as well as cold sandwiches. Large selection of drinks and chips and they also had some organic items, nuts, dried fruit, etc. If you walk to the other end you will find household items, great for people who live nearby and need to pick up some essentials. read more

Ordered the half turkey meal for Thanksgiving. To my surprise the turkey was rather dry. The ends were more like jerky then meat. The stuffing was fantastic as was the potatoes. The broccoli and cheddar was ok at best but the biggest shock came when the Boston Cream Pie was served. It was awful. Wasn't even a pie just 2 slabs of cake with a filling that was more like cheap sandpaper pudding. All in all very disappointing as we were going to order our Christmas meal from Fireside but will be going to Zorns instead. read more

OK, I've come around on these guys. The ordering process is still a little haphazard, although they did add a Place Order Here sign over the counter. I don't think most of their sandwiches and wraps are that amazing, but I have found myself going there more lately, so I guess it has some appeal. Stopped at Fireside last night as an alternative to the usual takeout spots. I ordered chicken tenders with garlic mashed potatoes and corn. I asked for garlic mashed potatoes but got regular mashed potatoes (boo). We also got honey BBQ wings. I don't think their food is anything spectacular. It's typical deli stuff. The desserts looked good but I didn't indulge. To sum it up, everything was pretty average to me. read more

I have worked in the area for over 20 years. There is a lack of decent deli's within driving distance to my job. So I'm trapped. But after today I have to speak up. After an hour and half drive I ordered breakfast and asked to use the restroom. I was told that they don't have one for customers. Been a customer since 1989 come on. The owner is a witch. The temperature in the summer months is brutal. Don't need to break a sweat while waiting for my order. This morning was 9 degrees outside. Maybe 40 in the store. Have to say I'M DONE. We just had food catered for our daughter engagement party at our house for 80 people. I can't tell you how many people came up to us and asked where we got the food from. It was excellent from the dinner to dessert. We got the chicken Marsala, sausage and peppers, teriyaki steak, fried rice and scalloped potatoes. Even the cookie and brownie platter. I always do my own cooking. I worry about there being enough. There was plenty for seconds. The staff is friendly and helpful. The deli is clean. Also, while I was standing there to order the food a customer tapped me on the shoulder and said. She orders her catered food there and won't go anywhere else. I also was talking to my neighbor and she said she was just at a party that had food from there and it was excellent, which made me feel good before the event even happened. NOT FRESH. I went last night and got wings for super bowl. I should have trusted my gut (LOL) and left as soon as I walked in. The "hot" food was sitting at barely lukewarm temperature and was definitely in danger zone. Wings had decent flavor, but were TINY. Carrots, celery and bleu cheese is NOT included. Too expensive for bad deli wings. Coleslaw was mushy. My husband and I are both sick this morning....will NEVER go back. read more

I will give them a 2 because they do have some items that are worth the humiliation going in there. I have been here 16 years and stopped going in there for years. The attitude of their staff should not be tolerated nor allowed. The owners of this place are so disconnected from what is really going on at the counters. Disrespect through and through.
