We had an awesome time visiting Watch Hill and The Olympia Tea Room. Just a short wait for an outside table. We had a spot to grab a glass of wine and sit while we waited. The girls at the podium were super friendly and greeted us with a big smile. Our food was really delicious. I had the shrimp cocktail which were large cold and yummy I also had a very large wedge salad. My husband had the halibut with risotto and asparagus. He said it was unbelievable! (See picture). Today, we went to The Olympia Tea Room for lunch. We sat outside. We had a fantastic time. The oysters were out of this world. The wine our server suggested was excellent and paired well with the oysters. For our main meal - we chose lighter fair - tuna for my husband and the NE chowder for me - and we finished the meal with espresso. The servers - dress very neatly in all black and carry their trays with ease and elegance - that one might see in France. As soon as I entered Olympia Tea Room, I instantly fell in love with its unique atmosphere-pink walls decorated with framed art. Although I only dined inside, I would have been equally as happy with their outdoor dining on the sidewalk which showed a great view of the sunset and anchored boats. Its food menu is great for all, specifically those who love and dislike seafood. We tried their fried calamari and were very satisfied. We loved the marinara sauce it was served with. For an entree I tried the Portuguese baked haddock, and again, I LOVED the spicy crushed tomatoes and onions it was served with. I would recommend ordering a side or an additional appetizer because it was only served with green beans and I felt hungry afterwards. We were in Watch Hill when thunderstorms started rolling in. We took shelter in the tea room bar at a high top. My wife and I had a a drink and we started to love the vibe of the place. Old style restaurant with a mix of comfort food and high end entrees. We relaxed for a while and orders the bread service and caprice salad. We ordered another round and decided to stay for dinner. I had the Black Bass over soba noodles (special), my wife had the roasted chicken. Both entrees were delicious, most importantly, our service was wonderful! My family and I stopped in last month to try out this cute little restaurant in Watch Hill. It's in the heart of the most touristy areas of Watch Hill so be prepared for long waits and an expensive bill! We stopped in right at opening time so we basically had no wait time - however, the place did get booked up pretty quickly. The hostess we met with was really sweet, she took our order and the food came out pretty quick! My lobster roll was to die for, the creaminess of it was heavenly and the cuts of lobster meat was incredibly fresh - as all lobster on the East coast usually are! My husband got the burger for himself and he thought that it was good, however the price of it didn't actually seem to match up to its quality. For the cost of the burger, you would've thought that he got a steak! Overall, we had a good experience. COVID-19 restrictions were followed here so mask up and stand 6 feet apart from each other. If you're not eating, it's recommended that you keep your mask on. Also, be prepared to give your name and where we're coming from to the hostess as that is their way to monitor contact tracing if a COVID-19 case were to erupt from their restaurant. read more

The Olympia Tea Room is a historical restaurant in Watch Hill, which is over 100 years old. It is an institution and I was so excited to finally eat there! I was reading some of the history and some famous people who have visited there was Albert Einstein, Cary Grant and Taylor Swift. I found this little piece of history very interesting. I loved everything about the atmosphere, the wait staff, the owner and the food! Everyone was so nice, the owner was very nice and the food was delicious. The portion sizes are huge and you get a lot of food for your money We ordered the Calamari, Crisp Zucchini Ribbons, Bolognese with Pappardelle and a delicious Watch Hill Mojito cocktail Everything was delicious and as you can see by the picture you get a lot of food. What even is this place? $5.50 for one shrimp? $7 Nespresso Cappuccino? I get a markup for location, but it's truly astounding when a place like this not only has big prices but food that is also mediocre at best. Further than that, a place like this would at least be terrific if it had some solid atmosphere and really took care of their restaurant, but of course unpolished silverware and a sound system that was turning on and off throughout our meal. And for a "Tea Room" to only have huge portions that were dinner oriented is false advertising in the very slightest. Nonsensical menu, poor ambiance, and bad prices. Firstly, I will start with the positive that we were told the wait was 20-30 minutes but were called within 5 minutes that our table was ready. Though, when we approached the host stand, we stood there for quite some time, and the two hostesses at the stand had us wait. One was understandably helping the party in front of us, however, the other one, was aware of our presence, had spoken to us when we first put in our names, yet stood there and waited until the other hostess had finished and had her help us. Once seated, we had been seated for at least ten minutes before anyone- busser or wait staff approached us. We did not receive water at all, and our drinks took another almost ten minutes to arrive. Once we ordered our food everything seemed to go smoothy and we were surprised with how fast our entrees came out. However once the food was actually infront of us we realized something was off. There was some confusion with what was in one of the dishes which we tried to resolve. The mistake was not the fault of the staff however when we ordered we verbally said that one of the dishes had pasta in it, however it did not and our sever never corrected us when we ordered. This miscommunication led to the confusion when the dishes came out. The wait staff was very sympathetic but after speaking with the manager they told us there was nothing to be done. From the managers very clear facial expressions it was obvious there was nothing she wanted to do to help. Not the fault of the server however being someone who has worked in restaurants for years there was a very easy fix. As far of the taste of the food went... nothing impressive. The prices being what they are for pasta that tasted identical to, at home, in a rush dinner for the kids, makes sense considering how suspiciously quick the food arrived. The Olympia Tea room, being smack dab in the middle of watch hill, should have quality and taste that reflects the gorgeous atmosphere but unfortunately falls completely flat. read more

The Manhattan at ocean house was $16 and it was very good!!? There are not many places around so it appears they are taking advantage of it. Come for a beer to check it out. Stay away from mixed drinks. Not sure of the price or food quality. And who cares if Taylor Swift eats here?! My family and I have been lifelong patrons of the Olympia. Admittedly, there are limited dining options in Watch Hill but we continually return here. Great atmosphere and beautiful ambiance with eclectic artwork. The service is decent - I wouldn't rate it as the best I've ever received or the worst - it's just okay. In terms of location, it's great and convenient in the downtown area perfect for dinner before driving home. The food is a hit or miss. I've had delicious dishes and terrible ones. I would say that it doesn't always match the price of their dishes. However, none of this has clearly stopped my family from returning and will always view Olympia fondly as it's a cute summer restaurant in a beautiful location. read more

Decided to stop by for food and drinks after some shopping. My friends and I got lucky and were seated outside on a Sunday afternoon. We did not have to wait too long either (about 10 minutes). Our waitress was a doll and super attentive. The view was beautiful. I'm all for the nautical life. We ordered wine/beers for the table and different dishes to try. Dishes ordered were calamari, fish & chips (my favorite from the list), fried zucchini app, lobster "rolls", and the fish of the day. Dishes looked amazing, but flavor fell flat. I was underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, ingredients were very fresh, but dishes were missing the WOW factor. Overall, service was great, the view was even better, company was top notch, and drinks were delish. After a nice hike alongside the Napatree point trail, we were looking for a quick bite and saw this place and read the reviews and decided to give it a shot . I will start by saying 5 stars to our server Tyler N who was friendly and courteous . The 3 is for food variety for vegetarians and flavor. We ordered few drinks , I had the only gin drink on the menu -Lime Rickey and hubby had a blue moon beer . The cocktail was good , very refreshing after a hike in the sun. Then we ordered the Avocado carpaccio salad , and crisp zucchini ribbons from the starter side . Salad was delicious but starter was very ok. Not very flavorful. The presentation of the breaded zucchini ribbons on a bed of tomatoes and drizzled with balsamic was lovely but I felt it lacked in seasoning and fell flat! It's a pretty decent portion size too. A perfect dinner! My best meal while vacationing in Westerly! In the center of the most quaint town across from the marina lies this classic gem. Their lobster roll in a buttery basted croissant was outstanding and superior to all others I tried in the area.
