That said they were shocked at the cost of three deli sandwiches and some sides being the best part of $80. I reported that this was mentioned in other posts here and there seems to be no prices published. From that they concluded that the policy was to exploit tourists or non regulars. But charge the locals a more reasonable price. No proof but that definitely was the vibe. So drive few minutes further to the Switz. This family-owned establishment is a great place to grab a meal, drinks, snacks, and/ or groceries in Penn Yan, NY. Located off Lake Keuka, The Olney Place offers a good variety of sandwiches and other food items as well as nice craft beers in their tap room. I went here with my family and friends for lunch. My friends told us about The Olney as a great place for sandwiches and craft brews, and I was totally down for it. The Olney is a big shop with indoor and patio seating areas overlooking Lake Keuka. It has counter service. We ordered three sandwiches. One was the Mustang, the other one was Scotsman, and the third one, I can't remember. The Mustang had ham, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, oil, and vinegar on an 8" bread roll. The Scotsman originally came with tuna salad, banana peppers, bacon, and tomatoes in a wrap, but I asked for chicken salad and on an 8" roll instead. The sandwiches were flavorful and delicious. Mine hit the spot. I also had a Hawaiian Punch Sour beer from Rising Storm brewery, and it was refreshingly delicious. I had a good experience and would go back here. If you ever go here you have to get the delicious home made cinnamon rolls in the morning when they first open. Also this place has good sandwiches would recommend the Rachel which is so good. And this place has an insane view of keuka lake when you're eating your food. Also this place is a half grocery store which you can shop and eat. Also this place has a very cool bar looking over the lake. And if you go outside by the picnic tables there is couple games including cornhole. read more

The food was decent with a small selection of sandwiches to choose from but they were already out of chicken salad pretty early in the day. There was a range of seating to choose from. The store part had a nice selection of items. The biggest issue was the staff here. Very stand-offish, not friendly at all to a number of customers. Three of them were standing talking to each other while someone was waiting at the counter--they saw her as they looked over a few times but none of the staff went to help them. Another person asked a question to the clerk, and the clerk snapped at them stating they didn't know. It just felt they wanted to be anywhere but there. Friendly staff, good food, lots of other selections. Sort of a combo of country type store, bodega (for my NYC peeps) and a diner. My bunless burger was good. Although the menu said salads were available instead of chips, they really meant coleslaw or potato salad. Surprisingly, not a lot of outdoor tables set up and they were all taken when we arrived. But the inside seating offered AC and large picture windows looking out on the lake. read more

If you're day tripping in the Finger Lakes area, this is a must stop for eats, snacks, and a view. It overlooks Keuka Lake. There's a back room with counter seating along the window and a community table. Outside, there were a few picnic tables, and a porch. Ideal during the summer months indeed. You order at the counter - it's setup like a market with a deli station. There are several sandwich options, plus some grill items too. I went for the burger - "the big crack," which I thoroughly enjoyed. Classic style with 1000 Island dressing, a thin patty, topped with cheese, and lettuce, paired with a side of chips. I also got a soda - Fentiman's Curiosity Cola - since it was an unfamiliar brand. Worth a try! They also have a taproom if you're up for drinking some craft brews with your meal. read more

Great spot for a quick bite. When you first walk in, it has a convenience-store vibe (also selling wine/beer), but it is so much more! There's a large selection of sandwiches (and a make-your-own option). The food is really fresh and delicious. I ordered the "Rachel" and was really happy with it. Busy, busy, busy call ahead for larger groups and they'll have it under control. I tried the Country Cuban and it was alright, I've never had one with relish instead of pickles. The Rachel was tasty but the bread was sogged out and barely toasted/grilled. There's an upcharge for the homemade sides we ordered potato salad and slaw they were tasty but differed in the amount served. The view is lovely and their grocery items are very inviting. read more

I loved this little place in Penn Yan. It's on East Lake Road with a nice view of the water from the dining area in the back. Outdoor seating is also available. I enjoyed a Turkey Reuben with a side of slaw. The shop has a variety of items and grocery/quick mart type offerings. If you're on a day trip through the area or on a wine tour definitely consider coming to this place. They offer very good food! read more

Looks like a cabin in the north woods on the inside.. they have a big old deer head.. a riot! Lots of different drinks to get from Pepsi and Cone, Water and some interesting stuff from England no joke. They also serve beer, lots of sandwiches to be had if you have certain types of food issues I would contact them prior but they seemed cool catering to my friends Keto request. So there you go. They have some stuff to pick up if you missed something from your place to your keuka house rental but it's $$ Sandwich's and etc are very good and tasty. The Turkey Rachel is great! They also have postcards and other Kueka Lake t-shirts and the like. They have outdoor seating as well as inside with large picture windows for a view of the lake. A basic everything bagel was way too basic which came with the most basic cream cheese and no trouble taken to cut the bagel in half which is a pretty standard practice. Some sandwiches weren't available and no milk to go with our coffee! Whaaaa?!?!? No milk at a breakfast deli at 10 in the morning!!! The staff looked a bit all over the place and not very friendly. I'm a vegetarian so my options are limited. But they did a great job coming up with options for me. It was great they stopped what they were doing to help me out. So good! The rest of the family loved their non-vegetarian meals too. The beer selection in the cooler is not huge, but what they have is fantastic! I've had some great hard to get unfiltered IPAs from here. They really get the good stuff! The beer on tap selection out back is top-notch. If your a beer person, this is a must stop destination. Give the little dog by the bar a pat on the head for me. This place is awesome beyond description. This is probably the best place to eat in or around Keuka Lake region. The food selections are good and very healthy. The staffs are very welcoming and friendly towards the guests. I am amazed by the hospitality of this place and the location is very convenient for Keuka Lake site seeing, parking and out-door dinning, so if you are around definitely check it out, stop by and I highly recommend this restaurant and their Eye Opener sandwich! Cute little store! It had a fun selection of foods and drinks to choose from that aren't usually at a normal grocery store. The staff was amazingly friendly. They even walked around and cleaned up, like it was a restaurant verses a casual eat and go place. I did get lunch here. I got a The Laker. It was very good except that the cheese tasted that American Cheese and I'm not a fan of that. It would have been better with a classic cheddar. Also there could have been more mayo on it. I also could have asked for more but my group was on a time crunch! The view was great from the eating area. There was not a lot of sitting room for a large group, which is shocking considering all the tours that go through that area. What a shame about this place. The food was good as many have mentioned in the reviews but good food is never worth putting up with rude, obnoxious employees that taint the experience. My husband and I met up with friends who had a one year old and needed a high chair. You would have thought we asked the guy and gal behind the counter to hack off their left arms by the horrified reaction. Neither of them greeted any of us and when we asked if we should place a drink order with our food the guy with reddish hair grumbled, "it's on the wall" in a tone that translated, "how stupid are you?" We weren't exactly sure what wall he was referencing as the place is a market, bar, sandwich shop and gift store. Not like it was obvious for first (and last!) timers!
