I was so excited to find an authentic Italian deli not far from my destination in Farmington NY. I was especially intrigued upon seeing they use Boars Head products. So I placed an order for 5 sandwiches to sample. I guess my Philly roots compromises my ability to not judge this kind of stuff against the originals, Philly hoagies. Alas, I still haven't found bread or rolls outside of Philly that deserve to be used on a decent hoagie. (Hoagies and cheesesteaks ARE about the roll, the taste and texture, above everything else.) This place is no different. It's hard to judge what is inside a sandwich made with really awful rolls. Sorry, but wherever these slightly crusty versions of white bread come from...not good. That said, they offer a fair quantity of Italian goods, I guess for this area, I should be happy just find some Cento products. Way better than Dario's in Farmington, but not even as good as very mediocre Jersey Mike's, solely on the basis of comparing the rolls used. If you're starving have at it. Otherwise, just a notch above Subway. read more

Loved the pizza, I got a small 12" Meat lovers. (should have ordered a 6" personal size, but thought it was going to be tiny......it wouldn't have been but was glad to have leftovers to reheat from the 12" anyways!) Has a really nice little Italian deli, the subs looked phenomenal. Will definitely come back to try those. They use DiPaolo twist rolls (a regional Rochester bread bakery) you'll find alot of hamburger & BBQ places in the finger lakes use these rolls, with good reason because they are amazing. Amazing subs! I've stopped by several times when in Canandaigua and unfortunately they were closed every time. Finally I was there when Casa Italiano was open. Their subs have great views & I now can agree. I did a takeout of a small and a large Joe's Special. The bread was very fresh with a generous amount of all ingredients. We added lettuce, tomato, onion to the sub as well. Absolutely delicious! When in Canandaigua, a must try. Do check store hours before you head there. They have several small tables to dine in. My husband and I were visiting Other Half Brewing in East Bloomfield and wanted something to eat on our way home and chose this place in Canandaigua. One side is like an Italian deli while the other side is a pizza place. We wanted pizza so we ordered and asked for a thin crust. They had a few tables and we waited. The pizza came out and it had the wrong toppings (they had pepperoni instead of sausage). They apologized and made us another. They gave us plates and napkins and we ate it there. Got to give another five star review but this time, it's for the pizza. I grew up in NJ and my favorite pizza style, is a extra thin and crispy crust known as a bar pie. Finding that style is almost impossible in this area. That said, I can't thank the pizza crew at Casa for accommodating my request for a cracker thin crust. They made an exceptionally delicious pizza and exactly like I wanted it. Extra thin, light on the sauce and with cheese that goes up to the crust line. The best sausages. Period. Just make sure they are fresh as I got a batch that was a little old, the color could tell, and my tummy wasn't happy. Service is a hit or miss. Must depend on the tides or the moon phases, or just the Italian way. I need to try the cheeses. Not into subs but it looks like a lot people go there for that reason. A split experience! The deli side is awesome and they have the best Italian cookies ever (I swear they stole Gruttudauria's recipes). A must place to visit. My husband and I have been here several times for takeout. We like the menu and options ...wanted to love it. But last two times, the butcher preparing sandwiches refused to wear a mask (?) and next time, the young woman taking my order and about to make my sandwich had a mask covering her mouth but not her nose. Really?? Ok so I tried to hint, pointing to my nose. She was clearly annoyed. I ordered the special sandwich with prosciutto mozzarella, red peppers and balsamic glaze. I asked for a small roll, which she dud not understand. Apparently if you don't use their lingo then YOU make no sense. Their 3 options are: "roll, small and large" (Aren't the small and large "rolls" too? No, while I consider them "sub" rolls, better not call them a "roll" in this place! This took five minutes to communicate. It tasted good but I had a terrible time biting it and chewing through the fatty meat. WOW. So this is the third pizza joint we tried during our Week of Moving (TM). We actually found this one on Yelp, and decided to try it based on other reviews. ALL TRUE BY THE WAY! The first thing that blew our minds were the prices. I haven't seen pizza this cheap in ages. And that is no joke! You can get a large pizza here for $13.99, or a large specialty pizza for $16.99 (at least at the time of this review), and that is insane! So we placed an order for a large Hawaiian pizza and an order of breadsticks to try them out. Staff was incredibly friendly, the turnover time was quick, and the food was absolutely amazing. We have been two more times since that first pizza, for more pizzas, and to check out the attached store and deli. I love everything about this place! Today we picked up some sugar cookies, and one of their specialty brownies. Next time I may try one of the salads. I tell pretty much everyone I know about Casa Italiana now, and it MAY be my favorite pizza place so far! read more

I can't say enough about the white pizza with tomato and artichoke. Perfect. I haven't really had enthusiasm for pizza in many months but this has me gushing about Casa Italiana. I've also enjoyed their tasty subs, with the right ratios of ingredients to my liking. Oh, and the bakery cookies: I can and have made most of them at home but why would I? Their's are wonderful and I don't have to clean up after the baking. They are costly but they are not lunchbox cookies; there is art involved in a special dessert cookie. read more
