This delightful place has a bar with real ales and speciality ciders, a menu with good home cooking, and hosts music and comedy gigs. The decor suggests aging hippies (gauzy curtains, fairy lights, disco ball and coloured light bulbs) but this is easily overlooked, especially at lunch time. Ruth and her team cater for various allergies and intolerances offering gluten free, dairy free, veggie and vegan options and if you call up in advance will ensure a selection for you (although we just arrived and asked for gluten free meals and were well provided for). I had a good gammon and vegetables for Sunday lunch (though the gravy and parsely sauce were disappointing) and my husband had some of the best roast beef I've ever tasted and a decent gluten free carrot cake for pudding. They also do tea and cakes etc. The place is quirky, the food good, the prices very, very reasonable (£7 for a main course; £11 for a 3 course Sunday lunch- amazing!) and the staff charming. Definitely worth a visit. read more
