Delicious vegetarian and vegan meals and a lot of choice. I love the 'Vegan Special' and the vegan cheesecake is 'to die for' - the best we've ever had anywhere. Gorgeous freshly squeezed juices too and soya milk available. Pleasant surroundings too. It has recently become self service although the hot meals are brought over to the table when ready. Service used to be very slow here but had greatly improved when we visited recently, and the new people serving were friendlier than the previous ones, so I am happy to give 5 stars!

Delicious vegan special take out - warm, spice and nutritious . Well served and quick and kind service

Excellent food, great place to go. Their homemade ketchup and chips are a favourite and the seitan burger.

I am stunned that I didn't post this review sooner - it actually dates back to before the lockdown…read morebut I checked with a friend and no nothing has changed - it is still great! The restaurant is located on the penthouse levels of a high rise building close to the University of Swansea and perhaps more importantly (very) close to the sea and the beach. The views (so long as the weather is clear) is SPECTACULAR both day and night. Amazing m. So good in fact that we went twice in our 3 day stay. Oh yes the food? Very good, certainly the steaks etc. Service was excellent and the prices very reasonable - what more could you want? Just go - you will not regret it :)

I had no idea...I thought maybe it houses television studios but discovered actually it's just an apartment building. Let's get down to three experience...you take a lift up to the 28th floor- it's a small lift so expect to wait a little bit. When we got to the restaurant we were seated in a booth facing the view- if you can get one of these seats I would highly recommend. Otherwise there are tables and chairs or bar stools if you're looking for just a drink. The restaurant itself is surprisingly informal-jeans and a sweater was just fine. I was expecting something a bit more refined- maybe some nice white tablecloths and good glassware. Instead I found pine tables and clunky cutlery, which made it feel like a cafeteria with an incredible view. The decor is just rather out of date and could do with a refurb. The view is pretty cool as you have the marina directly below- we arrived at about 6pm just before sunset so we got to see it in the daylight and after dark. To start with we ordered two cocktails (there are just 2 on the menu anyway) before perusing the menu. I opted for the scallops with pea purée followed by the lamb rack, while my friend Elle opted for the pigeon salad followed by the fillet steak medium rare. All washed down with a nice glass of red. Scallops were decent although I was quite envious of the pigeon starter! The lamb rack was really delicious but you can't really go wrong with lamb in Wales! Elle said she enjoyed the steak so all in all it was a good meal. To finish we ordered some ice cream and the cheese platter- I'm obsessed with cheese so devoured it!

Controversial review from Dan who claims that the Anarkali is superior to the Viceroy of India. I'm…read moresure the Viceroy would not be happy with this hastily blurted opinion. I must say I agree regarding Miah's - theirs is a gimmick Indian restaurant (in a church, innit) and the poshness of the venue does not bring it up to the level of the Anakarli or the Viceroy in terms of service and deliciousness. I think the Viceroy is slightly better because I have more amusing memories of my dad's friends asking for 'coca cola' in a really laboured way so the waiters would understand (they speak fluent English). Either way, St Helen's road spoils you for choice of Indians.

Yum…read more The Anarkali is the best Indian restaurant among the many in the St. Helen's Road area, just pipping the Viceroy to the title, and pushing many people's favourite - Miah's - into third place. The Viceroy's staff are far far friendlier, and Miah's boasts a great location (a refurbished church) but Anarkali just edges it for the quality of the food. It really is very nice. Even the Sunday buffet is good quality - much better than Miah's. It is quite amusing to read the Anarkali's menu. On the back there is a big pretentious spiel about how there is (I'm paraphrasing) no such thing as a curry, just the many dishes created by wives and mothers in Bangladesh - although that doesn't stop them from serving Chicken Tikka Massala and the like. I'm also pretty sure that a lot of Bangladeshi vegetarian wives and mothers aren't tucking into massive portions of meat on a nightly basis either. We'll let the Anarkali off though. I used to live 2 minutes walk from it. This was not good for my pot or my wallet.

It was a few different pubs, a classic British restaurant and just a building at various times, before the smart guys who now run it, came and opened up a classy Indian restaurant. It was opened as 'Bombay Spice' and took only a few weeks before establishing itself in Swansea as one of the premier spots for a curry. It was done out very tastefully, and was one of the first of its kind - the modern Indian restaurant, which is now so popular across Britain - decorated in a fashionable, clean style with few references to Indian culture. The food expresses the culture all by itself. Excellent Indian food. That's it, basically. Great service and lovely surroundings. When the capital of India changed from Bombay to Mumbai, the restaurant kept up and changed its name too. They also opened another restaurant with the same principals of excellent, authentic Indian food, good service and trendy decor in St Helen's Road, and that has been equally successful. Obviously it is a very popular place for my old household to go to, because there is a 2 minute walk home. Otherwise, there is some free parking available.
