Myraid Organics surprised me, both in terms of how big it actually is (I only expecting a tiny…read morelittle shop) & the product range that they stock; rather than limited range, it's more an all purpose little grocery shop with all sorts of food, toiletires, books & plenty of other bits & pieces. The whole store was nicely laid out & organised, the staff were lovely & very welcoming, also very patient in answering my questions (there were quite a few, I was rather excited by the store). My daughter was most impressed by the child sized shopping baskets that were stacked next to the regular sized ones - it was a thoughtful little touch. All the items that we purchased were of great quality, the fruit & veg were delicious & didn't last long at all, likewise the fruit & nut bars. The clear soaps that they sold, whose name I stupidly did not take note of, were wonderful - perfect for sensitive skin & smelled delightful. All in all, a wonderful store & excellent alternative to so many of the generic high street grocery shops.

Excellent shop and I would fully endorse Madeleine's view in all respects. For the first time ever…read moreI can do a weekly shop in an organic store, everything from fruit and vegetables through dairy, nuts and seeds to oils, tinned foods, supplements and treats. There is a refill service for household detergents etc., organic eggs (including duck eggs!) from local farmers, and some delicious foods (bhajis, soups) cooked on the premises. This isn't a store where you feel you need to have dedicated your life to Zen Buddhism or possess an encyclopaedic knowledge of auras and chakras just to pop in and pick up a jar of peanut butter and some pine nuts. Everyone is down-to-earth (no pun intended), helpful and 'normal' even the customers!

I didn't discover this Cwmbran based Beanfreaks until about six months ago, even though I've been a…read moreregular customer at Beanfreaks in Cardiff for years! This branch is pretty similar to the one in Cardiff, as it carries much the same product, but, in my estimations at least, it enjoys a better location, making it easier to get to if you are a driver. This is the shop to come to, to stock up on your quality vitamins. They do a great range of supplements, (including Solgar, which although expensive, are a good quality, reliable brand). They also carry an exclusive range of Swiss Herbal products that have proven to be a lifesaver on occasion. Beanfreaks also have an on-line shop that supports all of the products in their range. I hate to admit it, but I have considered using this service, rather than leaving the house when I have been feeling under the weather! Shame on me! (But in my defence, the last thing you need to do when you are feeling ropey is go shopping!!!). Here's the full extent of the range of products that they carry: Aromatherapy Baby Products Beverages Biscuits Books Bread Breakfast Cereal Confectionary Copper Bracelet Cosmetics Dairy Produce Flour Baking Flower Essence Herbal Remedies Herbs Homeopathic Homeware Juices Pet Products Pulse Nut Fruit Savoury Foods Slimming Smoking Special Diets Specific Supplements Sport Products Spreads & Honey Vitamins & Minerals

After reading steeps review yesterday morning and needing to do the weekly shop we decided to head…read moreover to Bryngwenyn Farm and shop there. Bryngwenyn Farm is just as steeps writes and in a beautiful spot, I would definitely recommend its' location for a peaceful getaway with its' holiday cottages and b and b with the great advantage of the fabulous mainly organic farmshop with wonderful proper organic and freerange eggs(delicious for breakfast today). As well as doing a good shop there, we bought the aforementioned sausages, pork etc some wonderful organic vegetables, we had delicious home made cake and tea so definitely a step up from the usual supermarket venture.

It is a bit off the beaten track so we had never seen it before, but we were pleasantly surprised. The shop itself is tiny, but still seems to hold plenty of goodies. There is a freezer full of meat (including the best sausages we have ever tasted), a fridge packed with cheese, yoghurt, milk and more, another freezer with bread, icecream and frozen fruits, a fruit and vegetable section and then shelves full of everything you can think of. They even stock Ecover products so if you are looking to avoid the supermarket, this is the place to go. Their home-milled flour is well worth a try and makes delicious bread. The shop is also a cafe and is laid out with a few tables. If you are looking for something different, they sell Alpaca wool gloves and hats! The rest of the farm includes holiday cottages and animals to see as well as the flour mill. I am tempted to sign up for one of the bread making courses. It is in an idyllic spot too with gorgeous views and a posse of sheep to greet you as you make your way down the track!
