This is a fantastic whole/organic/health food shop and so much more besides! We were so surprised…read moreto find such a large and well stocked store of this kind in such a tiny village! There's so much choice that you can spend ages just browsing round. We also buy a lot of things we can't get locally in our town, and we usually buy some of the lovely fresh snacks to have a picnic by the estuary. In addition to all the food and wine, they sell gifts including local crafts too (I bought some attractive wooden jewellery once) and there's a little cafe as well selling great coffees. It would take me all day to write about everything you can see in this shop so you'll just have to look at the website for the rest! Friendly staff too, always ready for a chat or to help you find what you're looking for. Great for everyone but also vegans, vegetarians and those on gluten-free (and other) diets.

Great for juices, non-alcoholic wine and flavoured instant coffees, too. What I especially liked were the lovely tall jars (in wonderful shapes) of flavoured olive oils, and vinegars, and the ones stuffed with colourful chillies, star fruits, and cherries. I couldn't believe they were from £3.69 to £5.19 - they look more expensive. Perfect for beautiful and unusual gifts for Christmas!! A pleasant, friendly lady serving who was offering everyone a free small glass of Rochester's Non-Alcoholic Ginger Wine - which naturally I had to have! (There was a special offer of 3 for £10.00). It's great to look out for their monthly special offers. There's a small selection of nice china as well. Strongly recommended altogether!

Look out for the special offers at the front of the store as they can be well worth it. My son always likes to visit here for dried banana's but also for popcorn kernals for his popcorn maker. You can get a wide variety of nuts, seeds and dried fruits here and in large bags too, handy to seperate in to smaller bags for lunchboxes. As the store is quite quiet you rarely have to que, staff are always polite and chatty. I would not hesitate you make a visit as the store perhaps has some thing different that you wont have tried before

They also have fruit and nut bars, protein bars and supplements. I went in looking for diabetic sugar alternatives, and was pleased to discover that they not only stocked it, but charged the same decent price as Holland & Barretts. There is a wide range of natural and organic cosmetics, shampoos, lotions and the like. They have a great range of sea salt scrubs in a number of enchantingly tempting flavours. This shop is not all fancy and hippy like you might think. Instead it's a sensible and well laid out store that does exactly what it says it does; provides health and beauty products. And a good range at a good price.

The store interior is a bit dated and the carpet could use replacing, but the stock here more than makes up for it. I even found Tom's of Maine deodorant, which I've only seen back home in the States, priced at £3.80 (it's aluminium free, which is apparently better for you. Whether that's true or not remains to be seen). Pro Health also carries a wide range of beauty products, many of them natural and organic (I was pleased to see an extensive selection of items made using tea tree oil), as well as protein supplements, nuts, and vitamins. Pro Health also sell poncy teas like Clipper, which I fail to find at competing stores, so major points for that.

As someone who is desperately trying to convert to a healthy diet, Whitchurch Health Foods makes the process far less daunting. The shop is full of yummy yet healthy treats (I still can't quite believe that healthy choc ices actually exist). Whilst the focus is unquestionably on food, it must be mentioned that they have a selection of toiletries made from natural sources (the Aloe Vera lip balm, is a personal fave of mine). The staff can appear slightly quiet, however the lady serving me recently, went out of her way to tell me that they had a very similar product to the one I was buying, on sale at a reduced price (very kind).

It stocks a good range of supplements and…read morewhole foods as well as herbal and energetic remedies, all of which are a little pricey, but then again, it is Cowbridge and you'd spend more on petrol going to Cardiff to buy these things. They do however, redress the balance by offering some drastically reduced items. These are always featured in the window and are essentially lost leaders to try and get you to come in and buy more things, which of course you do. So, on balance, you don't spend any more than you would if you went to Cardiff to go to Holland and Barrett. The best deal by far that I have seen them do is the Manuka Honey. This is usually not far over half the price of a good quality Manuka at other health food shops. They run this particular offer really regularly, so it's well worth glancing in the window the next time you are in town, especially if you are running low, or feel a cold coming on.
