I really liked the Octopus Bar! It's a very unique place with random objects to view all over the bar. It's filled with books (on the ceiling), dolls, and all sorts of spunky decorations. The service here was great, you are supposed to order at the bar, but it was slow, so the bartender came to our table to take our orders. Street parking was easy to find. We came here on a Sunday for a late brunch. The food here tasted great! The brunch menu is funny, the title at the top says, "You're hungover? So are we." Some of the meals they serve are WTF Happened Last Night and The Black Out, pretty funny. The Octopus Bar has a lot of flatbread meals they serve as well as bagels for brunch. I ordered some flatbread with egg, cheese, sausage and syrup and it was delicious! I ordered a Bloody Mary as well called the Lifesaver and it was really good! Their menu said it was voted one of the top three Bloody Marys in Seattle, so I had to have it! And they play old school OG hip-hop music here, so of course I loved it! They even had studio monitors (speakers) they use for it, which was cool to see. I always respect places that put time into their sound (as well as the rest of the decorations here too!). Loving the new spot! Outdoor or indoor we love it, and it's now my Fiancee and my go-to happy hour spot in Fremont/Wallingford. Outdoor is fantastic; indoor is full of mysteries and "eye-spy" type details. The attention to thematic detail through the bar is incredible and a significant upgrade over the prior location (which we also enjoyed, a lot!). The Salty Shack features things like mini corn dogs and chicken strips which match perfectly with our beer and cocktails du jour. Hate to leave such a positive review because we like it as a 'secret', but they earned it! read more

Wife and I brought the dog here on a very nice, sunny day. We intended to stay for just one drink but ended up with more and to boot we ordered some of their (yeah we know, it's next door) yummy cheese sticks as a snack. Dog loved hanging out inside, we loved hanging out inside. We were a bit reluctant and had walked past it a few times, it seemed more like a young-person's bar, one that us, older-than-young folks might not be hip to. Maybe we weren't but still loved it. A very nicely kitsch place that I liked very much :) Music is fantastic. Rock Since you are walking to the place and stand outside, you can see the magic and feel the good vibe. In the inside there are lots of weird stuff. I really enjoyed the funny stuff of the vending machine hahaha. You must be an observer of little things too. Love love this bar to hangout at. They have trivia on Mondays, bingo on Wednesdays, a night market on occasional Wednesdays and so many more events. This is a common spot for my roommates and I to spend our evenings. You can order food from the salty shack which is attached to octopus bar. The service is excellent and the staff is super sweet. What an amazing Seattle institution. It's a special Wallingford place. Plenty of seating at two levels. Bar is really cozy. Was so crowded when we arrived around 6 pm. Crowd really thinned out past happy hour. We had few drinks and variety of bar food including pizza, nachos, nuts ++. Service was prompt and courteous once we got bar tender's attention. We poked our heads in over the weekend and I must say, it's a pretty laid-back environment. Not your typical dive bar, it's rather swanky. The bathrooms are wallpapered super cute and the decor around the bar is really intriguing to look at. They have seating for big and small party's as well as bar stool spots. I came in with a friend and sat in front of the beer well. The bar Decor was incredible and holliday themed. The music they had playing was very nice. There was something for everyone to listen to. The bartenders Maddie and Brad were very knowledgeable about the menu and about the drinks we ordered. I tried the Top Cutter IPA. As an IPA drinker I enjoyed Maddies recommendation very much. She said it was a favorite of IPA drinkers. The food menu is nice and affordable. I'm currently eating The Bait Bucket listening to Outcast. The chips and dip are amazing and were delivered to us in a timely manner. I've had a very positive and enjoyable experience while I was here. I highly recommend this bar to others. This bar has it all + Great staff + Good food + Good drinks + Reasonable prices + Large outdoor patio + 90's jams pumping through the speakers Now it's a bar...so you're not going to get a HUGE menu *sigh* but they do have some decent options. -1 star since their brunch options aren't the most carb/gluten friendly but they are tasty. It's a perfect setting for grabbing a drink in the sun or hanging with a group of friends. They also have a fun old-timey photo booth and vending machine with odds n' ends. Lots of cooky, fun decor which makes you feel like you've landed on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Came in on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of seating *score* and sports were on. Huge new location with lots of space and different venues to sit with lots of character. Visited Friday and was directed to the most uncomfortable and awkward seating. We asked for a better table and were told the desirable locations were all closed. Why only open the shifty seats? As we left we told the waiter who was to serve us that we wanted to sit elsewhere or would leave. He could not have cared less, so we left. Horrible service by awful people. Never returning - and I'm a neighbor who has been here several times before. I'll make sure to tell everyone in my 105 unit condo complex along with all of my Wallingford and Freemont friends to avoid. UPDATE - rude and careless bartender just came to the bar next door to do some shots, telling fellow patrons, "I need to loosen up while I'm on shift so I can be nice." Wow. Just wow. Upon walking up, Peter's warm welcome while taking security seriously invites me to feel safe while getting my delicious drink on. He is friendly while responsible, and a fantastic conversationalist! I also know that he always is looking out for the vulnerable. This is a great place to hang out with friends or unwind alone after a long work day. The bar staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. There is a ton of space inside so it doesn't feel cramped inside. The crowd is mostly folks in their late 20's - early 40's so pretty chill. Their partner restaurant, The Salty Shack, provides food. I didn't the selection complimented each other that well. Deckhand Duo: I thought the spinach and artichoke dip would be warm, but I thought wrong. I think my drink was called Lost at Sea. My friend has been coming to this place for years and recommended it. She said her favorite place to sit was the outdoor deck. Although the sign on the deck said it doesn't open until 6pm (we had gotten there a little after 6), when we asked the bouncer if we could sit there, he told us we technically *could* sit there, but that he didn't want to open it up because then "it would be a pain in the ass" for him to bring our drinks out to us. And although we said okay, understood, he continued with "yeah, you should order your drinks at the bar so I don't have to bring them out at all". We later spotted him reading a book the rest of the time we were there. Later when we ordered our drinks at the bar, the bartender was weird, told us no to wine because "there wasn't any conveniently available" to her. When I picked another drink and paid, she shouted "you need to check out!" just because I didn't notice their screen. I will say that the waitstaff service was great, so +1 star for that. And the food was delicious. But the rudeness of the bouncer and the bartender left a bad impression. read more
