Pretty expensive for fish, i should of done my research on the fish i bought before i went. They charged 50$ for a fish i could of got down the road that sales it for 24.99$. But on to the big issue, i bought the fish and the next day the fish died. I called the store to see what the policy was for dead fish and they said they only give 1/2 credit towards the fish that was 50$ after only having it for literally 13 hours. In my opinion i would do your research for what you are looking for and you can find fish for cheaper else where and that offer way better warranties on fish that die the next day. read more

My wife has spent quite a bit of money at this establishment. She has a 75g tank and a 92g bow front that she bought from them. Their knowledge about aquatic life and how to care for your investment is only beat by their customer service. Ted and AJ have come to our home to help my wife set up her tank, and maintain them between cleanings. Since this is a new hobby for my wife, she is still learning the ins and outs of taking care of her tanks. Ted is always in "instructor" mode, teaching her what she needs to know to one day do it all by herself. I would recommend Ocean Floor to anyone who is just starting out with fish and equipment, or for the person who has established tanks and want to replenish their tank family. Great variety in this store staff is very helpful however prices are very high on fish supplies and fish. Return policy is not great as well. 10 days you have to return if your fish dies plus a water supply. If fish is over 10$ that warranty does not apply. Weak sauce. read more

This store is the most amazing place ever! My boyfriend and I go every single week and everyone is beyond helpful. We have never gotten any bad advise from anyone that works there. Every time we go we always make sure to wait and talk to Neil. He is the manager at the store and is so patient and knowledgeable. He always makes sure that our tank is running okay, and if it's not how we can fix it. You can also tell that he has a big passion for fish so that is amazing to see. We have bought a ton of fish there and every single one has lasted. We have yet to buy a fish there and have it die. All the fish they have our super cool and unique. After going to a brand name pet store and here it's night and day. I will only buy fish from here. If you ever need anything fish related I would highly recommend this place. read more

This place is HUGE, probably the largest I've ever been to in fact. Despite other comments I've read the staff was very helpful and nice. The building is very old, one of the workers said it's been a fish store for over 30 years. I guess it used to be a bowling alley prior to that. If you're looking for large tanks, this is the place to come. There is so much to look at. While it could use some restoration in some areas, this place has a seasoned nostalgia that's hard to explain. As others have stated, some prices are a bit high on certain things, but it's not that bad overall. I definitely will be a regular here. read more

Knowledgeable staff (If you talk to the right guy in the back). We got a couple fish from there: Silver Arrowana and a Clown Knife fish. Both are doing great and have had them about 2yrs and counting. The staff is constantly pushing their product line "tropical science" and "fish keeper", which all products are good, but very expensive! Also, found that their prices on freshwater pets were about doubled from an average price, after researched. I Still go in time to time for the fish keeper, and advice. read more

This place is a complete scam. They sell people fish/animals that are priced too high, and are also sick! I purchased a small school of glass catfish (that I thought were the standard variety) that ALL have ICH! They also tried to sell me a fish with half of its gill cover missing and Cory's with missing barbells and fin rot. The staff was utterly useless, no one knew anything about the fish they were selling and they often misnamed fish and other animals.. When I called for help about my sick fish with ich the "manager" told me all fish were sold with a health guarantee and they needed a water sample. When I brought my water in it tested PERFECTLY, so I asked how they guarantee healthy fish when 3 out 4 of the fish I purchased were unhealthy, and he simply laughed at my question! So unprofessional. Don't bother buying their fish unless you have a ton of meds and a hospital or isolation tank. To top the cake, the glass catfish they sell have been injected with harmful dyes (which I later found out) and most won't make it long. They also have chameleons that are house in screen enclosures, I'm interested to know how optimal humidity for this tropical (high humidity required) reptile is maintained in a screen enclosure... It's NOT! Just avoid it. read more

Staff is extremely friendly, I rarely go to the fish section I usually just go to reptile section. The short guy Donny is the best employee ever he knows everything there is to know I promise he's so amazing, the tall blonde guy is cool he sometimes doesn't seem like he knows what he's talking about he gives you false info just to try and make you buy something and the tall dark haired guy with the gauged ears is really cool too he gives accurate information and he's easygoing and very knowledgeable. Went here for the first time a couple days ago and it was awesome!!such a good place to go just for entertainment purposes,my daughter had so much fun looking at all the cool fish ! The staff was very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable as well. Answered all our questions even if they were dumb since we are new at having fish and aquariums. I also found them to be cheaper than any other pet store for supplies as well. I can't wait until I can up size and start a salt water tank because they actually sell water from the ocean and have awesome coral too!! Can't wait to go back soon read more

Today was my first and last time to this establishment. Here's why; 1) Customer Service is absolutely, positively HORRIBLE. I walked in and went to the back to look at the fish. There were four 20-something year old guys (red flag right there) sitting at the counter just bullshitting about what kind of car they drive. You know because when your 20-something, you should drive a hummer. I saw a few fish I was interested in buying. But not one employee approached me asking if I need help. Not for nothing, when you're a potential customer with the potential to spend some money on fish (and let's face it, fish are not that cheap), the least that should happen is an approach by staff "Do you need some help?". But I got nothing but an earful about what type of cars these spoiled 20-something year old are driving. 2) The fish were very overpriced as were other items. 3) It was hotter than hell in the place. It felt like a greenhouse. 4) On my way out the employee at the front counter didn't say squat to me. Like "Anything in particular you were looking for?" Nope they said NOTHING. read more

She and the other cashier couldn't care less when I saw the fish caught in the crease at the bottom of the bag without water, she just looked at it and went back to ringing my order up, so I put the bag right side up. It is a great store to get fish from. We recently bought a cory catfish from there and it has been a great addition to the tank. We pick up different types of fish food from there at a decent price compared to that of other stores. They could use more staff on hand. However, we have never had a bad experience with the staff. Totally disappointed in my experience at this store. I live 2 hours away. I wanted to experience some other fish than what I could find at the big "P" chains. The gentleman who helped me seemed kind enough and sure of what he knew. I advised him that I am new to this, my tropical tank is only 2 months old and 36 gallons. He sent me home with 2 clown loaches, a butteffly fish and a couple of cherry barbs. 10 days later I am left with only once barb and one clown loach who has ich. I was not told that clown loach should be in a minimum of a 75 gallon tank, they they need muted lighting, that the butterfly fish always hovered at the top (so we never got to see or enjoy it) and that they needed floating plants on top. If I hadn't advised him of my circumstances, I would feel this was my error. (and I certainly have learned not to take anything new home now before I learn about it) I was also told if there were any issues they would take the fish back or exhange them. When I called and spoke to the manager about what was happening he said he'd only take the buttefly fish back if were alive. So, I am now without fish that I was really hoping to enjoy, terribly sad about the fact that they've died, and I am now out about $50 which is just not OK. I found all the tropical tanks at the store poorly lit, and a few had dead fish. I did my best to choose from healthier looking tanks, but now I'm afraid all of my fish are going to get ich that the loaches brought in. More money out now on top of it. Ocean Floor is absolutely the best shop for fish in the area. The selection of fish is way over & above what anyone else offers. The staff here are all very knowledgeable,not like your chain pet shops. All of the fish I have purchased there are healthy & they describe their traits right on point. I got handed 125 gallon freshwater tank my husband started with 24 fish & didn't cycle it. Then he left the job to me. I had to learn quickly. Jason was so patient he got me through it all without losing 1 fish. He's patient & because I don't live close he is always helpful on the phone. When I message on Facebook I get a reply in under 3 minutes every time! So many of the staff are helpful & I can't remember all names but AJ,Moses,Henry & of course Jason are a few. They know their products too & which ones work best. They aren't picking the most expensive to sell you,they pick what would actually work for your needs. Thanks to all the staff for my happy healthy tank. If you are new to fish,go there. They will teach you so much. Their live coral tanks are gorgeous. The koi pond is great for kids to feed & enjoy. I had got referred by a friend and even though I live in south Chandler I decided to make the 45 minute commute to check it out. I was truly impressed with the selection and the staff was exceptionally helpful. Michael in the tropical fish department was exceptionally knowledgable and very helpful. I have tried on many occasions to give this company my business. I was let down every time unfortunately. I have lost money every time I go there it seems. Sale items the send out get me all gung ho. Saltwater fish on sale should be healthy right? Not at this place. I take great pride in my tank and make sure all levels are set to the best levels as can be and have had Ocean Floor test my water every time I get a dead fish the next day with excellent results. I get the standard shrug and, we can offer you the same fish, which had a lifeless body at the bottom of the tank, or half you money back or credit of half your money back. I'm frustrated with customer service. Once they realized my water was good and it was there sickly batch of fish, I was shunned and ignored and walked out never to return. NEVER! so beware is all, and be prepared to lose some hard earned money. read more

I've been to this place on and off for a few years now. I usually come in when I need something that I could not find at other stores or is not worth the wait and shipping cost online. They have a pretty big store and but everything is overpriced! The fish are usually not healthy. I've seen many dying fish. The people that work there are not knowledgeable. On multiple occasions, I have to get confrontational. It's irritating to have to argue with the salesperson when I did not ask for advice in the first place. I have been in the hobby for over 12 years now so please spare me the sales pitch. There's immediate tension and rudeness when you refuse. It's like, "Alright then, all your fish are going to die. Be that way." Very unpleasant. On another occasion, I purchased a few extra pounds of dry natural calcium carbonate rocks for my saltwater aquarium in addition to the 75 lbs I bought online to create an aquascape I intended. The guy working there told me it's not for saltwater -- that it was lava rock and it would crumble the moment I put it in my saltwater tank and give off phosphorus into the water. I told him it was dead coral, and I have the same kind at home but he insisted on arguing. I ended up purchasing a few pounds anyway only because I needed them and could not find it elsewhere locally. But as you can imagine, it was quite unpleasant to feel like I have to argue to buy something from the store. On two occasions, I was charged for different prices than what were written on the aquariums only to be told they were from a different supplier so the price was different. Seriously? You couldn't re-write the prices appropriately? Their Fri-Wed sale is a joke. They're usually unhealthy stuff or they have only 1 or 2 available just to get you to come in to the store the very first day of the sale to tell you they've sold out. (Yes, I fell for it.) Overall, stay away from here if you can. I still only come when I need something urgently that I can't get elsewhere but it does irritate the crap out of me each and every time. read more

Excellent customer service!!! Went in today to find a fish for my daughter, all she wanted for christmas was her very own fish so after researching for weeks we went in with a couple ideas. We ended up getting assistance from Dan the manager who was so polite & helpful with my 11 year old daughter. Listened to her her ideas then gave us his thoughts on the best type of fish & set-up. Walked us through everything from picking the fish, picking a tank, everything needed for setup, explained to her how to clean it & even how to care for her new fish (feeding & such). My favorite thing was that he didnt just tell her what she needed to do, but also explained why. For example, showed the proper amount of food but also explained exactly why it should only be that much. Also told her if she had any questions later she could call him at the store & ask. 30 minutes later & my daughter walked out with a grin from ear to ear with her new Betta & tank in hand :-) If you need any fish equipment or a new fish, I definitely recommend going to check them out! We drove all the way from surprise & would make the trip again if we decide to get another fish :-) read more

Well now what can I say other than WOW! This place used to be the place to go for aquarium fish and supplies both fresh and salt, sadly from what I saw today not anymore. Many tanks in need of repair, fish that do not appear healthy, tanks mis-labeled with whats in them and/or not labeled at all! Oh my god the salt tanks are terrible what the heck happened. Ten years ago this place was the bomb, now I would go to petsmart for fish before here. The owner seriously needs to clean this place up! read more

I'm not an expert on marine pets, nor do I feel I would jump into that hobby feet first. However, enough time spent in the Ocean Floor might make me reconsider. They have aquariums of all sizes and designs, some small enough to house small schools of fish, one large enough to hold a small shark. They have the usual aquatic decor, including rocks, plants, sand, divers, shells and castles, but furthermore have a wide array of different types and designs, allowing fish aficionados to design tanks in unique styles. For beginners, they have a decent library of different types of fish and aquarium care. They have a virtual supermarket for all sorts of marine life. And as for marine life: the store offers a respectable amount of aquatic creatures. They sell fresh- and salt water fish, crabs, shellfish, mollusks, anemones, seahorses and many more sea creatures from all over Poseidon's kingdom. If you're interested in getting starting a tank, I would highly recommend visiting this store. read more

Very disappointed like many others on the warranty service I bought 2 snowflake clowns on 3 rd day one died I had the water checked in Our local salt water store and was told it was ok. I then called ocean floor to inquire about what I could expect from a warrantee. The young woman on the phone said just bring in the dead fish and a water sample to be tested and the fish would be replaced. I did that, transporting the water sample in a closed clean jam jar. The drive was 2 hours from my home. After a couple of testing we were told the nitrite was off the chart and therefore the fish would not be replaced. There was no consideration that the water was in a warm car. No oxygen supply and a 2 hour drive. My tank is a new tank but I am not new to the hobby. My frustration was not so much on the dead fish but being spoken to like I was an idiot and that my water was unfit for fish to live in and therefore they would not replace the fish warrantee or not I returned to the local store to have another opinion. My water was tested again and told the water is fine. The other fish is doing well I was told that nitrites are not an issue with salt water in all this it was less than acceptable customer service read more

My husband and I were visiting from out of town. Since we live in a small town it's hard to find African cichlids. The staff was more then knowledgeable on all the fish. We are seasoned cichlids keepers so it was really cool to get some new advice. I really can't stress enough at how awesome the staff is. They really know how to treat their customers.
