Definitely a five star review. I've never heard of this restaurant but my client recommended it so I said hey let's give it a try. The one dish I wanted to order they were sold out. How do you sell out of chicken fried steak. That's kind of wild to me, but oh well it is what it is right what can you do about it. I can't even remember what I had. I think I had fajitas. Yes, I remember they were pretty good really stood out was the cappuccino. That was the best coffee I've ever had. I wish they could tell me where they get that cappuccino from. I even asked the waiter and he had no idea. I liked it so much I even called a week later to ask manager if they knew what type of cappuccino coffee that was still with a mystery. if you're reading this review, take the time to let a customer know what type of cappuccino your serving. I took the time to give you a five star review so it should be that hard to let me know what type of coffee are using. There's also outside dining, if you prefer to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings. Quesadilla- (chicken) Nice size portions that is loaded with chicken, cheese, onions. This dish even though it's listed in the appetizer section, can be enough for some to have as a dinner entree. Crab cakes- what a delicious dish... crab cake is made moist and had such a nice flavor to it. Always enjoyed a crab cake that was made with, the right amount of crab meat and stuffing. Lobster ravioli (4pcs)- one of the most important things about lobster ravioli is the cream sauce. The Oak got that right hands down. You don't get a huge piece of lobster tail. But what you get is quite reasonable. Crispy chicken sandwich- I always love when a sandwich has a nice soft chewing bun, and this sandwich has that. On top of that the chicken was crispy and not greasy. The fresh toppings was a great addition to this dish. Braised short rib- Beef was very tender and was seasoned good. I would've enjoyed this entree even more, if it came with a (wine) sauce from the braising. Also, the mash potatoes could've been more whipped, with a touch of sour cream as a ingredient. Cute little restaurant in a very cute little neighborhood welcome center. The staff are pretty friendly and the food is pretty decent. I do wish that they had more vegetarian options though. I got the Quinoa Salad, it was a very hearty meal and left me quite full. The bowl was full of delicious superfoods - definitely one of the healthier options available. We've been here 3 times and each time has been a crap experience. Each time it was under new management. First, they said they had no high chairs and would bring it out once it's available. We walk around the corner outside and guess what?! There are 4 high chairs stacked on top of each other. I enjoyed this restaurant. My husband took me for the first time on Valentine's Day. The staff was attentive and friendly. The charcuterie board appetizer was yummy! The drinks were not too strong and very smooth. I really enjoyed the live, "one man" band. And the music playing when he was on break was fun! (They give you a literal machine at your table to keep them at bay). The food is definitely not worth the money. Apple pie eggrolls we're absolutely frozen in the middle, steaks were burned when ordered M/W....but the chicken parm turned out decent. Shame. Place has a lot of potential. May try it again in the future, but it was a lot to process on the first visit....even after dropping several hundred dollars there. I mean....screwing up the reservation twice is a red flag, and that was just our introduction lol. We had a reservation at 630 and got sat after 645. When another group was there and they had a reservation at 645 and were sat before us. My husband will eat pretty much anything and thought the shrimp tacos were the worst he's ever had. Even if he doesn't care for a meal he will still eat it because he doesn't want it to go to waste but he wouldn't even finish the tacos. He said they were so plain and had no flavor to them. Previous to this visit we were not impressed with The Oaks and haven't been in at least a year. on Sat 4/12 we didn't want to go out too far and since it is around the corner, we thought we'd give it another try. Once again the food was a major let down. I had the ribeye, which while cooked perfectly, was one of the least tender, chewiest grizzle fest of a steak. On top of it the menu said it came with peppercorn sauce which I like. . It certainly was not prime, and I highly doubt it was choice. When it came there was a small container with a very small amount of something so vinegary it couldn't even have been salad dressing. I asked about it and they said apparently they were out of the peppercorn sauce so they gave me chimichurri sauce. This was NO chimichurri sauce, I can tell you that. On top of it they never bothered to come back to the table and inform me which would have given me the option to change my order (which I would have). My wife got the chicken fried steak which was twice as thick as my ribeye (NOT GOOD FOR CFS) and the cook was extremely well done to the point I called it burnt. Had it been mine it would have gone back. It was THAT bad. Every dish we have ever had here has been BAD. Overcooked or low quality which is a shame, as it has the potential of being a really good restaurant. read more

This was a takeout order. Presentation wise, The Oaks does a superb job of making their meals look delicious. I especially loved their cute packaging that was easy to reseal. It is obvious they use high quality and fresh ingredients. Having said that, I give the restaurant 2 stars based on the lack of seasoning. The fries that came with the Oaks backyard burger were a little soggy due to the condensation, but were not over salted. As for the burger itself, all I could taste and smell was a soft bun, savory cheese, and fresh onion. While the patty was cooked the way I requested (medium), it was not as moist as I expected it to be and tasted like flavorless meat. The fish tacos barely had any fish and, similar to the burger, all I could taste was the onion, purple cabbage, and corn tortilla. Despite adding my own homemade sauce, the tacos still tasted bland. As for the salads, those were decent and hearty. The bourbon bread pudding smelled great and was thick. The sauce and berries made my tastebuds sing and I do recommend this item. However, my main meal was the burger and tacos, but it felt more like I ordered salads and bread pudding since those were the only items with flavor. Overall, the Oaks earned two stars because of the beautiful presentation and tasty dessert. Given the price of this order, I am underwhelmed. read more

This worst management ever! Also, the food is NOT as it used to be. It is definitely not worth it for the price. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I had my post wedding brunch here (day after my wedding) for all of my guests and I ended up paying $1,000 for 15 people for a breakfast buffet. The GM added a $300 service fee, (which I was told wouldn't be added since I wasn't renting the garden room), 18% gratuity, drinks were supposed to be included (they weren't) and we got our food ourselves. I called the manager multiple times to try and get it resolved and he would never call me back. When I did reach him, he asked if he could call me back, which of course, he never did. (Perhaps because it was unusually busy on a Wednesday night?) When you sit down they bring you a nice cold bottle of water immediately. FYI: They will charge you $2 for that bottled water that you didn't ask for if you don't give it back to them. Feel free to hand it back and ask for a glass of tap if you please. Although the food was good, we were unable to totally enjoy our meal and the atmosphere because of all of the flies. We were initially seated outside but asked to be moved inside because there were so many flies around our table when we sat down. They were able to accommodate our party inside which was great. But surprisingly there were a lot of flies inside as well. It seems like an ongoing problem because they had fly swatters and bug zappers on hand. The two servers walking around passing us over and over, an older male and a younger woman, never stopped to even ask if someone had helped us. Visited The Oaks for the first time today. It's a cute area, and kid friendly if you sit outside. Our server Miguel was excellent, I would definitely come back just for his service. The food is average. I did have the BBQ Bacon Burger and it was tasty. Unfortunately my husband had the Shrimp Alfredo. He had one shrimp and couldn't finish his plate. Have ordered chips and queso and received chips and salsa. Tried eating there in person - maybe this will be better! Sadly, no: Barely anyone there, yet I was ignored as I watched people seated nearby well after me have their orders taken before me. No offer of a drink refill, to-go box, nothing. Had to flag someone down and ask for the check just like I'd had to ask for everything else, since I assumed my server had just gone home for the day. So: Food 10/10, Service 2/10. Let's start with opening hours. The door says 9am. The hours listed online say 9am. But due to covid it changed to 10am. So let's just say already a rough start. The coffee was cold and being we were the first people of the day who knows how long it has been sitting out. The food Order the French toast. It was soooooo overload with syrup and miscellaneous toppings you could even taste the toast. Bacon was good. Cold. But good. But it's bacon when is back really ever bad. Wife had the omelet. Very much underwhelming. And rather small for a "bunch" menu. Potato pancake/hash brown was overdone and all you could really taste was the oil it was fried in Overall service. Friendly staff but very slow. Could not use the bathroom for 20min or so because the bathroom was locked and the person working couldn't find out which key opened the door. The Oaks is an interesting spot. Architecturally a very nice space and a large patio at the rear with a place for kids to run around whilst you eat. The first time we came here was a Friday evening. We wanted to relax for a few hours with friends and let our kids run around and play together. Unfortunately when we got there a band was playing and it was absolutely deafening. It was so loud we had to leave to go somewhere else. We have been back since though when the band wasn't playing and really enjoyed it. The food was really good. I had the Blackened Salmon and thought it was fantastic. We also tried their margaritas and thought they were great too! Better than a few of our local Tex Amex restaurants in the Fulshear / Katy area. The only real negative was the service. We were outside on the patio and it was extremely slow. Our waiter would disappear for long periods. That was a relatively minor issue when we were sat outside on a lovely day fortunately. We will definitely be back. read more
