Been going to this studio for a solid month now, and I've gotta say, I kinda love it! It's got a…read morerelaxed zen-like atmosphere, intimate class size, nice group of people from different ages / fitness levels -- and there's something for everyone. I first started out with the restorative yoga, which as Melissa C mentions is much slower paced (and I guess that's the point; so as to restore you). It was helpful in the sense that it got me out of my head for an hour, and I left feeling very relaxed and refreshed. Then I decided maybe the power yoga would give me more of a cardio workout, and it did! I was famished half way through, I think it's more for intermediate level. Right now I'm really enjoying the Beginner 1 classes. It goes through a good foundation of poses, and Jessica does well to balance more challenging variations with easier modifications, so you get to listen to your body and follow according to your individual needs. The forehead massage at the end with essential oils is a nice touch, haven't seen this at any other place. Overall if you're looking for a studio in Rockwall, I suggest going through some of the different classes offered here with various teachers, to find one that feels right for you. Right now, I'm so glad I found this place!

I recently started attending classes here (4 weeks ago/5 classes). I definitely enjoy the feel of…read morethe studio - calm, clean, and simple. The only thing I wish is there was decor on the walls or windows in the studio so I could focus on something during practice. Other than that, I like the intimate size, changing rooms, clean bathrooms, ample waiting area, etc. I've only attended Beginner classes taught by Jessica, one of the owners. She's even keeled and knowledgable - the real deal. I like how her classes are never the same from day to day: Different parts of my body get worked on from class to class. (I've been to classes before where the teacher seemed to favor certain postures.) She's great at giving modifications if my body isn't willing to go "there" and tips for making a posture or stretch more challenging. I've come away sore from her class once (heavy on the abs). I usually leave feeling stretched out and relaxed. I suppose I'd like for mid-class to lead up to some sort of flow, more Sun Salutations perhaps - just for a few minutes - to get my heart going a bit more. Maybe there's another class I need to try for that. My favorite thing is the Savasana at the end. The studio I was a part of before practiced this for a good amount of time at the end of every practice, and I haven't been to one since that consistently did it for a good amount of time. Jessica does here and even gives a quick, relaxing forehead massage using essential oils. Yay for the human touch! I do miss the yoga-nidra practice from my last place, but I can do that myself now. Overall, I'm just happy to have found a real studio - not a random class at the Y, not that crazy hot yoga doesn't embody all that yoga is suppose to be, but true mind/body/spirit place.

I just attended my first session at Yoga Balance, a Fundamentals class with Tracy. I was worried…read morethat I wouldn't be able to do everything, as I'm 62, out of shape, and have no sense of balance. Well, it was difficult for me, but Tracy helped me and I felt comfortable about it all, though still annoyed that I let myself get so out of condition. Tracy was moving around everywhere, helping all the students with adjustments or corrections, explaining how we could modify a pose when we had difficulty. She gave me a folded blanket to protect my knees, a bolster, and a block to support my back, and helped me out when I couldn't get into position--while helping everyone else, too--how about that for multitasking. The Fundamentals class was difficult for me so I'll try the Gentle Yoga class next--will definitely continue going to Yoga Balance to get myself healthier: the place is very welcoming and calming and I wanted to hang around and just absorb the mental and emotional peace. It's nice that they have such a selection of classes for the very unready like me to the advanced. The other students (yogis?) were kind and considerate---no one made fun of me, and I felt comfortable in spite of my difficulties. The fees are very reasonable ($10 or $15 per class), there are no contracts or enrollment fees to lock you in, and the studio is small and cozy. I was concerned that it would have an exclusive upscale feel that would intimidate me (it's in a rather upscale neighborhood of McKinney), but it was friendly and inclusive, kind, and welcoming. Really a nice place.

I had a private lesson with Honey this morning and left feeling really positive and open minded…read moreabout trying yoga for first time. She made me feel very comfortable and listened to what I wanted to achieve. The studio is calming and airy in a great location and I'm looking forward to trying the sleep and meditation classes too.

A truly beautiful spiritual experience for me. I did the 10 day silent retreat in May and…read moreabsolutely loved it. I meditated a lot and it was one of the few times in my adult life I've ever felt such a deep level of peace in my mind and soul. The food was also phenomenal and I'm not even usually a vegetarian. This is the real deal for a spiritual retreat not just some frou-frou trendy thing for soft spoiled people wanting a spa experience, their ego catered to and needing their hand held throughout. It was transforming for me. I was there on my own spiritual journey and it was beautiful. I brought nicotine lozenges because I'd been a 30 year pack a day smoker and used those and I simply never smoked again after I left because I no longer desired to. Much spiritual clarity was found within as I sat still within nature and myself. I am going back for a 3 week silent retreat this coming May for more stillness and quiet contemplation. The tirth is very open and respecting of all people and ways of being and beliefs. I am Taoist and found this a perfect very healing and holy space for contemplation of the soul and being. If I could afford to spend a year there in silent meditation, I would do so in a heartbeat. It still might be possible so I am not ruling it out. Until then though I look forward to my next visit. I also highly recommend the yoga classes and found them very refreshing and a nice chance to gather and quietly focus our energies and bodies together with others. (For clarity: Ben R. **Rockwall Water Fitness Review**…read more I can't recommend Rockwall Water Fitness enough! This water aerobics class in Forney and Rockwall has rejuvenated my love for exercise. Not only has it strengthened my knee, restoring a good chunk of my mobility, but it's genuinely changing my life for the better. It has served as both my physical and mental therapy. I LOVE sports and have been active most of my life, but getting to a point of not being able to participate was honestly taking it's toll. This class has given me confidence by having something in which I can fully participate all year long. It is so refreshing. Melissa, the instructor, is an absolute gem. Her high energy and dedication make each session enjoyable. Plus, the mermaid community is incredibly welcoming and friendly. If you're looking to mix fun with fitness, this is the place to be!
