I told her I had hip, IT band, lower back and left shoulder issues- yes Army vet and mom to a toddler so I'm pretty banged up lol! You can tell she read my body to offer the most thoughtful session I've been afforded! She used several techniques such as stretches (ladies may want to shave their lady parts for that one-ha!), cupping, and deep tissue massaging to remove knots and release what felt like years of tension! I have been going to PT 2x/week but I felt even more of a shift after our session! The facial hydration was good. Nice and cool to offer contrast to the warm blankets but followed up with a warm towel. When I was younger, my jobs were extremely stressful and physical, causing plenty of injuries. I had major spine surgery last year. Since then, I've done six months of physical therapy without much improvement. A few weeks ago, I gave up on the PT when my wife referred me to Kathye Hopwood. She is very impressive! I need deep-tissue work. Kathye is not a big person, but have no fear, if you need deep tissue work, she will give you exactly that! I know Kathye does many other types of massage, but I haven't tried them. If I wanted to, I know where I'd go first! ;-) Her studio is perfect. She has decorated it beautifully with things that obviously mean something to her. It's quiet and she makes sure that you're comfortable before she starts. Today was my third or fourth visit and she even remembered that I needed extra blankets for cold, (and painfully crampy), feet! Yes, it's a small thing, but isn't that the point?? As I said above, I've had a LOT of massage! The first time I went to Kathye, I told her that it had been the absolute best massage I had ever experienced. Today?? DITTO!! I love deep tissue massage, but ashiatsu takes it to the next level. Instead of using just 2 hands, the therapist uses 2 hands plus 2 feet at the same time. This does mean there is a little less hands on time than regular massages, because she needs to get up and down the table, but it's well worth it. Brandee's client interaction during the massage session was perfect. She was friendly and gave a thorough explanation of what to expect. Throughout the session, she regularly checked in to see how the pressure was, and made the entire experience soothing and relaxing. The only downside is that since the massage room is connected to the salon, you may hear some noise coming from the salon. But that didn't bother me that much, and I look forward to returning soon!

This was one of the most uncomfortable and emotionally distressing experiences I've ever had during…read morea massage. From the moment I walked in, the front desk immediately pushed $60-$80 worth of add-ons before I even got into the room. I declined multiple times, but the pressure continued -- even as I was trying to settle in. It felt like they cared more about my money than trying to make me feel comfortable and better! After sharing that I didn't want my arms or legs touched and only wanted my neck shoulders and back to be worked on she told me there would be a $10 upcharge due to their "policy." I agreed, but what followed didn't reflect any professionalism or care. The technique was disjointed, repetitive, and lacked any sense of body awareness. It jumped from overly soft touch to sudden, jarring pressure with no rhythm or transition. It felt like the therapist was just going through motions without any intention or responsiveness. If you have PTSD, physical trauma, or specific boundaries, I strongly urge you to avoid this place. My body was tense the entire session once she crossed boundaries. I disassociated so quick, and she was so unaware. The therapist ignored nonverbal cues, continued working in areas I told her I didn't want worked on, and at one point used hot stones (which I didn't request) in ways that felt invasive and deeply inappropriate. I was completely dissociated by the end of it -- emotionally overwhelmed and retraumatized. On top of that, the therapist left the room multiple times, reducing actual massage time. When the session ended and I went to pay, I had already signed the receipt -- but she pointed to the tip line and said, "Tip? I worked so hard." Caught off guard, I left a very small tip just to get out of the situation, even though I felt completely disregarded throughout the session. Afterward, I sat in my car crying for nearly an hour, trying to calm down. This wasn't just a disappointing experience -- it was an upsetting one. There is no trauma-informed care, no real respect for client boundaries, and no understanding of how to provide a safe, therapeutic massage. If you're looking for professionalism, safety, and actual healing -- this is not the place to go.
