If you're reading reviews trying to decide if you should hire The Nouveau Romantics to make your wedding beautiful then I'll make it easy for you...."yes!"
Having Liz & her team come on board was one of the best wedding decisions my now husband & I made. We immediately knew we loved her aesthetic & style from just a few pictures of her work. At first we went back & forth on whether or not to go with another (slightly cheaper at first glance) company but the reality is that you get what you pay for. The 'cheaper' company quickly spiraled in price with hidden costs & superfluous extras without ever being the 'vision' that we even wanted in the first place.
Liz is no-nonsense & that's definitely something you want when planning such a special occasion. She's real & honest. We communicated often & with ease. My husband & I planned our wedding from another continent & still managed to have zero hiccups with keeping in touch. We arranged Skype chats & emailed back and forth. Once in the USA prior to our wedding she made herself available (often at very short notice) for last minute drop-offs & arrangements. Working with The Nouveau Romantics was like having good friends that you trust just take care of it.
Trust, such an important issue. We're pretty particular (high maintenance maybe?) & had a pretty specific idea of how we wanted our wedding to look. I loved pouring over pinterest & tearing through magazines. I like to think we have an eye for detail & unfortunately sometimes pretty fussy taste. We would have loved nothing more than to become full-time wedding planners for a few months & fully invest in doing it all. The reality is, that just wasnt possible. As hard as it was to hand the reigns over, with Liz, there was just an immediate understanding. She listened to what we wanted, took the time to get on board, understood our vision & didn't try to 'take over'. On the same hand, the team were so effortless, confident & assuring that we didn't even feel the need to over see every detail. They took our ideas & ran with it in some directions, using their artistic magic but the end result was EXACTLY what we wanted, even if some of it wasn't even what we imagined!
As far as the process goes, Liz initially sent several proposals, each beautifully created with photos & notes of flower choices etc. She sent OPTIONS, below budget, on budget, just above. Everything was transparent. No hidden costs, all accounted for. All explained. What was costing more, why it was worth it. In some areas she would even suggest cutting out expensive things that would be less impactful & thus "not worth it". No gold-digging here! She had great insider knowledge of vendors, with suggestions of table rentals, linens etc.
We ended up going over our original budget, no pressure from The Nouveau Romantics. Once we'd seen what could be done for just a little more it was a no-brainer. Liz assured us that the team would go above and beyond "even little details that you wouldn't think of will be included" with 'the full package' & she was oh so right! More candles, more votives, extra little bud vases etc etc. Nothing forgotten, everything full & rich & perfect. Not a detail overlooked.
We held our wedding at The Barr Mansion in Austin & luckily for us Hannah (who used to work as a coordinator at Barr Mansion) now works with Liz. Total dream team if you are planning a Barr Mansion wedding!
On the day I remember being handed my bouquet & thinking "wow!". The flowers were unbelievable! The boutonnières were perfect. I had suggested (at the very last minute) "what about flowers for the bridesmaids hair?". No more details needed, she hit the nail on the head with the MOST dreamy bud arrangements for each girl.
Unfortunate windy weather meant that our outdoor cocktail hour on Barr Mansions dreamy courtyard had to be moved indoors. The decision was just made by the team for us, which we truly appreciated. No fuss, no stress, just 'taken care of' before we had time to realize there was an issue. And there really was NO issue because the second we stepped inside the ballroom for our newly assigned indoor cocktail hour we both literally gasped out loud. Seriously stunning. Breath-taking! EVERYTHING was perfect. The overall impression was just of warmth- inviting and romantic. We spent time walking around taking it all in, admiring each detail. The table setting was exquisite, flowers dreamy, candles abundant & sparkling. Drapery she suggested we hang to make the space better suited for a small party was SPOT ON.
Thank goodness we had the extra cocktail time inside to enjoy it all!
All of our guests commented on how beautiful it was. Seamless and complementary and fitting with the venue & surroundings.
