Although most of the outerwear my family wears is The North Face brand, this was our first visit to our hometown store. It's really as beautiful as it seems from the outside. Bright, clean and modern. There's lots of random items. We didn't have problems finding sizes in items we liked, but there wasn't a wide enough selection of what we come for, outerwear. They have an upstairs. It has its own checkout desk so unsure if they'll let you bring merchandise downstairs. They had people standing around watching for shoplifters, I assume. We had no issues checking out. The employee loved my toddlers jacket that we purchased online and was dundundun...unavailable in their store. I would return if I ran out of time to place an online order, like why we came this visit. read more

This place doesn't have a bathroom. Selection could be better. It looks huge from the outside but it's really small on the inside. They did have a 30 percent off all clothing today. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Being right downtown across the street from 5th ave mall where the first floor of the mall is sort of overrun by homeless people, I was pleasantly surprised how clean (and full only staff and actual shoppers) this place was. Nice and quiet. Helpful staff. Decent selection of casual wear. I'd definitely say I'm not an outdoorsy person, but living in Alaska I feel like you sort of have to have a few north face items. 5+ years ago I didn't like the quality of north face clothes because the zippers notoriously broke off. More recently I haven't had any issues and have been rocking the nicest dark purple lightweight jacket. I've been stopped multiple times for compliments especially on the color, so I'm casually searching for a replacement in case the zipper finally breaks on this one. No luck yet- it seems like dark purple isn't as easy to find (although they do have men's puffer vests and jackets in that color right now). We ended up buying a couple sweatshirts which were softer than any sweatshirts we own. I did love that they have a small north face Alaska section. I'll have to bring my family who are coming up this summer there to pick up a few tshirts/sweatshirts souvenirs. What I didn't like was the prices. When I thought I was getting a good deal in their clearance section, I found later cheaper prices online on their direct website. Even their normal priced items were cheaper online with free shipping. Tip: sign up for their rewards program and get 10% off your first purchase. If you're looking for casual wear this place is where to go. If you're looking for more specific outdoor stuff you'll be better off elsewhere. read more

My wife and I were shopping the selection was pretty good, I had 5 or 6 items, my wife had 8 or 9 items. Suddenly my son who's 6 needed to use the restroom. I don't know about other folks children, but my son waits to tell us he needs to use the restroom until HE NEEDS TO GO. We asked the staff if they have a restroom my son can use and they tell me they don't have a restroom in store, as he tells us this an employee walks out of what was once clearly a public bathroom. So, we needed to put everything we had down to drive to another location to allow my son to use the restroom, we went just down the street to 6th avenue outfitters who did have a restroom and we ended up spending a little over $600 there instead of the North face. Until this experience the Northface was the only outdoor apparel we shopped, however now we will likely never shop with them again after discovering the 6th avenue outfitters. Shop local read more

It's a beautiful store with a great location. The staff are prevalent and eager to help. But, I can't help but think it's lacking in focus? I'm just not really sure who this store is for? It has a an odd mix: casual city wear, snowboard/skiing gear, a tiny selection of mountaineering gear, and...winter boots and hiking boots...that mostly look like city-wear? I if you want more technical stuff, why not go to AMH or REI? If you want more casual stuff, why not go to a place like Nordstrom? What is the advantage of buying TNF gear at the TNF store, rather than somewhere else? I'm eager to see how this store evolves, right now I just don't see the point? read more

I can't believe I didn't write a review for this place. A few months ago I had a North Face backpack that had ripped. I called North Face and they gave me directions on how to return it to the factory for evaluation. Noticing this store on a recent drive through downtown, I decided to stop in and see if they could give me advice on whether my backpack would be covered on warranty. Not only did they give advice, but the manager offered to fill out the paperwork and send the bag for me! Awesome deal! It did take two months to get my pack back, but it was fixed perfectly! The store itself is a little less than I would have hopped. Not quite as much gear as I would have hoped. I guess I expected a North Face store to have odds and ends of things that you couldn't find at places that retail their stuff. read more

Great store with great service. I don't know what some of the other reviewers are talking about with this store. You kind of know what to expect from north face, quality products at a price that is moderate. I feel like the pricing is what you would expect for the name brand goods you are getting. This store sells apparel... shoes, some pants, shirts, jackets jackets jackets, hats, gloves. Usual north face stuff. My wife and I both found pairs of boots and they had our size in stock yay. Will be shopping here again to get stylish clothes that keep me warm. read more

Strip down your clothing before coming in here. This is not a joke. Hopefully this is one of their few first day quirks they gotta work out. But seriously, it feels like a sauna in there with the most minimal layers of clothing on today. Being that this is one of their flagship stores, I figured it would have far more merchandise and variety especially with it being two floors. It wasn't. For example, I went in there in search for a hooded sweater, for the females, there were about three different styles to choose from - one with two color selections and then two with three. Not for nothing, Sports Authority has more of a selection than that. Then I had been in search of a half zip sweater. Again, poor selection - both the work out ones and the fleece ones had just two colors to choose from. Bummer again. However, I do have to note that the store is visually enticing. Kudos to the team that but this store together! What I do have to mention is that I love the service that was provided for me. Bruce and Cat especially were awesome. Cat or Kat (?) walked me around the store in search of the pieces I was looking for. I hate when I am looking for a piece and simply get told 'it's over there somewhere.' I like that she put down what she was doing to help me find a piece similar to what she was wearing. Bruce was super awesome. He too ensured that I was taken care of, let me know where everything was, helped me put away the clothing that did not fit me correctly, even helped out at my final transition between the two discounts I had. All in all, I walked away with a hooded sweater, a half-zip fleece sweater, a short sleeve workout tee shirt for $102 with a snap back hat (free with purchase after spending over $75). While the selection was fairly spare, I am truly happy to finally have a North Face. I mean come on, they had a whole Denali line before even coming up here, it only made sense! I hope to watch this store flourish with more merchandise through the seasons and then, maybe then it could get a 5 star rating. Until then, I've leave them with room for improvement. read more

Don't bother if you are a normal sized person. They only make clothes for tall skinny people. I could not believe that a 2X jacket was too small. Every other clothing brand 2x size either fits me or hangs off of me. They don't carry anything larger than 2X in the store. read more

My husband and I went into the store last Wednesday. Perhaps we are older than their average customer but perhaps we also have more resources than their average customer; however, they will never know because they did not offer to help us. We entered the store and NO one acknowledged us. We walked around the 1st floor and someone finally said hello and I tried on a vest no one came over and spoke to us or offered any help and or information about the merchandise. My husband even sat down which would have indicated that perhaps I was going to be shopping for awhile. I saw at least 4 people that I thought were sales employees but if I had wanted to buy something or if I had any questions I would have had to ask them. Then we went upstairs and there was a young man who spoke to us but as we looked around never ask if he could help us. I don't like to have sales people hovering but I do like to have a friendly atmosphere where I feel welcome--I did not feel this way. I felt like I was not in their demographic and they weren't interested in selling me anything! read more

This story starts with a gift of a north face macmurdo 2 parka, which I received as a gift for my years of service and loyalty to my company for the last ten years. I received the coat and i wear it when I have to travel to the cold recesses of Alaska. I am a medevac pilot serving the state with the busiest fixed wing services in the country. We go to every location we can in the state as well as many locations out of state and country. One day while wearing the coat I discovered two more of the many generous pockets and one that was extra deep to which I thought great here is a pocket for my Nalgene bottle. I was wrong the pocket was unfinished at the bottom and only served to "eat" my keys. I called TNF and fully expected to hear a line about not having a receipt for the gift and how they were no longer responsible. Stop reading here if you are not into saga's. I reached Naomi first at my local store who listened with rapt attention and eagerness. When I got to the end of my sad tale she told me to bring it in and she would set me up with a repair, or replacement if they didn't have my size. When my size and color could not be found and the repair would take 8 weeks. I opted for a gift card; she and Bruce ordered a new one for me from the online store. With help from Heather The saga continues: I get my confirming emails about the coat plus one with tracking info. It says my coat is on the way, however it doesn't have a date or time of arrival so I decide to call TNF on the number they included on the website. I get Rick one hour before closing in Wisconsin. He is just like Naomi and wants to help me out so he looks through the records and sees that my coat had a shipping label made but he can't see where it was actually put on a truck. He apologizes and lets me know that he can get one ready for reshipment or give me a gift card for the amount and I can go back to the store and see if they received more product. I opted to speak to Elna yet another person who listened to me and tried to make this right. She said she could get me a gift card for the amount of the jacket but that it would take up to 48 hours for it to be useable. This was unacceptable to me as it was about to get cold like cold enough for my coat to be used. I asked why I couldn't just have her make contact with the local store to tell them what happened and I get to pick up my coat at the store. She arranged with Brian to have me purchase the coat with my own funds and then get reimbursed with the card when it came in. That was a perfect plan for me, I get to stay warm and everyone is happy. Now the crazy part. I go in to pick up the coat at about 7pm and it goes off without a hitch. They have a few coats in my size and I try them on. I am out on the street in minutes and happy again. I get home and my children say your coat arrived from TNF via mail courier. Now I am embarrassed. Let me be crystal clear. Everyone that I delt with was great at TNF and kept their word. I even received my coat with in the 2 business days exactly as the website said I would. (The tracker did not work unfortunately). So I am writing this as a mea culpa, and thank you to all the employees at TNF. I am in a service industry in which I serve as a manager, I hire and train many employees, what ever you are doing in your organization, keep it up you are making life long customers. I know I have told 16 people today about my experience, and to shop at the downtown store because of the excellent service there. The end. P.S the second coat is returned. read more
