The bartender was great and since we were from out of the country, chatted with us and told us about some other great spots in Oslo as well as some history of the area. Then, we ordered off-menu and got an Aviation and a Sazerac, which the bartender whipped up for us. My Aviation had egg whites in it per my request and it was amazing. Both my husband and I agreed they were the best we've had anywhere so far - and we drink a lot of cocktails. I would recommend this place to anyone, but especially people who aren't from the area.

I'm from Houston so I know a thing or two about burgers. I'd rate this one a 3/5 only because it didn't have anything to rave about. It was a decent burger, but lacked flavor even with their special sauce. The burger patty was juicy and not greasy. The fries were fresh and fried perfect, but nothing special about them.

The staff were very friendly and kind, the washrooms were clean, and the food was really good. I got the burger and chili cheese fries. Both super yummy, super filling, would recommend. The only downside is that it's a bit pricey, especially if you're visiting Norway. Other than that, I really enjoyed this place.

(and I didn't want to just do a cafe run). A friend reccomended this place and it was a couple of blocks away from where I am staying so I gave it a shot (bonus was that it's open at 0730 M-F, so for someone jet lagged, it was a great way to kill some time early in the morning) Got in and got seated (breakfast restaurants aren't really a thing in Norway, so it was empty when I arrived). Ordered the fried Brussels sprouts as a snack and the eggs, bacon and hash browns as a main w/ locally made sourdough bread from a local bakery on the side. The food was all presented well and tasted great. The hash browns were less shredded potatoes as puréed, then fried. (still tasted fine) and the eggs were scrambled perfectly with the bacon crisped up and sprinkled on top with some sprouts. The bread came lightly oiled and fried (so no need for butter). The Brussels sprouted were roasted with some peppers and served on top of some aioli. Service was great, food was great and will come back at least one more time before I leave town. Yes, it's pretty expensive (this all ran me ~$35 converting from NOK to USD) but Norway in general has a high cost of living, so this is on par with any other sit down meal in a comparable restaurant.

I was there at 9:00 am so still a bit early for a place that stays open until 3:00 am regularly! I took the waitresses recommendation and ordered the avocado toast. I added the fried poached egg out of curiosity. It was amazing! The toast had fresh tomatoes and seasoning. I have never had a fried poached egg... it was so expertly prepared, a real work of art and measure of culinary skill! I can't wait to return to try some other dishes

Return trip a few years later to a hip "Southern American" restaurant in the artsy district of Oslo, a short bus ride (or even walk) from downtown. As someone from the southern United States, where folks are judged on their fried chicken and BBQ, Lucky Bird hits it out of the park. Simply some of the BEST fried chicken I've ever had -- ANY WHERE. The chicken was perfectly moist, and the breading was crispy without feeling heavy or overly oily. The creamed corn and mashed potatoes were top notch. The only complaint about Lucky Bird is that there weren't more locations around Oslo. This is certainly a gem hiding in plain site. On the return trip the fried chicken was still living up to the standard. Delicious. Overall the sides can really put a dent in your wallet, so you want to be careful with your order. Oh, and the tea - don't order it if you're expecting a traditional southern American sweet tea. Their tea is not that. It's a mix of tea and lemonade it tasted like. This was also one of the few restaurants in Norway we found to have full service (meaning a server took your order) Overall I give Lucky Bird five stars out of five.
