Grits came out cold but they warmed them up. Pancake was thin and hard. Potatoes were good omelet was good but didn't like the cheese type. One porkchop was good but the other wasn't. I love a breakfast place. It's not a chain so I look for those that are owned by local or business owners and this location fit that bill a very friendly staff and welcome atmosphere. The parking lot is share with other the retail shop so I can imagine it getting busy throughout the day. We are able to come here on a Thursday morning and there was only two other tables that were sat on so it's a pretty quiet morning. We're able to get our food Quickly and hot. Got the omelette which is delicious. The sausage was a little bit dry, but that could just be how so he might prefer it that way I would recommend and look forward to coming back. read more

It wasn't busy when we stopped in this weekend. The owner/manager greeted and seated us. Upon asking if it was our first visit, she let us know that Tuesday you can get 1 complimentary pancake! Clean, well lit, friendly staff. Mae took care of us. I had wanted the steak and eggs, but after she clarified the steak was grilled and then fried, I opted to go with the shrimp and grits. It came with a soup or salad, so chicken tortilla it was. Grits were hot, topped with 5 medium size, heavily seasoned shrimp, sautéed with onions and bacon. It came with green beans, mashed potatoes and garlic toast. The Boy had a waffle and fried country potatoes. First time visiting and everyone was very courteous. It's Tuesday afternoon around 3pm so not at all busy. The ambiance is cool because there's like a 80s/90s rock radio station going on. There's a decent bar; not fully stocked but enough for a good mimosa (I may or may not have had two... lol) or there is beer. Food: So I had the shrimp and grits which was just ok but it was FRESH and hot. I'm partially to certain seasoning because I'm a Louisiana girl. A little hot sauce was a blessing to it. Today was my first time ordering here as i had a wicked craving for country fried steak. I wish so much that i had not wasted my money. Let me start with the fact that NOTHING is seasoned . Not even salt . It was appalling. The gravy was gross . Tasted like raw flour and water and it was lumpy as hell. I literally gagged . Would absolutely not recommend. I went there this morning with my 7-year-old daughter who ordered the 3 Silver Dollar Pancakes with apple juice from the kids menu that I believe was $7.99 or that's the price on their menu posted on Facebook. The waitress returned and asked my daughter what kind of toast she wanted with it and listed out: white, wheat, English muffin, or French toast. My daughter replied with the French toast since that is one of her favorites. I thought it was odd they would include that as an option for a bread side, but I didn't question it. I definitely should have. When we were done eating the waitress came with the bill and I just handed her the credit card as I was busy packing up our leftovers and talking to my daughter. I should have looked at the bill more closely and questioned it. It wasn't until she brought it back for me to sign that I noticed they charged me $11.98 for my daughters' pancakes which included $2.99 for the French toast and $2.99 for her juice. It's Crawfish Season and The Nest Diner is bringing the flavor! The sizes and flavors of the crawfish meals are fantastic! They even have hand washing stations in the back of the dining room which was a very thoughtful addition! I have been to several restaurants in the Cypress area for crawfish and this one is hands down the best on price, seasoning and portion sizes! This is my favorite place for breakfast as well. They have FREE PANCAKES ON TUESDAYS! The breakfast is delicious and huge portion sizes even on the kids menu! This local family-owned diner always has great service! The owners, including husband, wife and son, are literally right there serving customers and ensuring the best experience possible, even on to-go orders! We have been here a few times and the food and service is OK. One gripe I do have is when you order pancakes or grits where you need butter and you get 2 teaspoons of butter. . . . . are you kidding me? I kid you not the other morning we went and I got pancakes and a side of grits and when it hit the table the server gave me two (2) little plastic cups of butter that amounted to 2 teaspoons. . . . . not tablespoons . . . . . teaspoons. They did have the full breakfast menu along with sandwiches/burgers. Staff was very attentive and friendly - they kept our waters filled and prompt service. Clean environment - had both Tabasco sauces with ketchup readily available on the table. I went with an All American Burger, my wife got the Amigos Bowl and my son grabbed the Sunrise Breakfast. Burger was run of the mill - you could tell they used pre made patties. Fries were crispy curly and seasoned. Prolly won't get it again. 7/10 The eggs looked really good on the Sunrise Breakfast - like they attained the perfect consistency of scrambledness. Ham steak was groovy and potatoes were the usual. 8/10 The Amigos Bowl stole the show with a nice mix of eggs and veggies with proper chorizo blended throughout. My family and I tumbled into The Nest Diner after church, sufficiently hangry. Especially our four-year-old who'd eaten nothing all day and was approaching nap time. It felt very cozy in the restaurant and the booths were spacious. I ordered the breakfast burrito, my mom ordered the chicken fried steak, my husband ordered the biscuits and gravy with ham, the baby ordered sausages, and we got a ham fried rice to share. All of our food was delicious especially the biscuits and gravy and the ham fried rice!! We had so much food we ended up eating the fried rice for dinner later. I noticed they have really good specials too like kids eat for free on Fridays, mimosas on Saturday, etc. Our waiter was named John and he took great care of us! Terrible, go anywhere else. Unfortunately, we just had the worst experience at a restaurant in memory. We were one of two tables within the building. A total of four people were in our party, and the other table was a single. It took an hour for our food to come out. Unfortunately, the food was cold when it arrived. The meatball sub was served as six sauceless meatballs between two burnt pieces of bread, without any cheese. My son ordered the pancakes and they were wildly undercooked to the point that I'm concerned that he's going to be having a salmonella attack in the next 24 hours. My wife got the soup of the day (broccoli cheddar) that was also unfortunately cold on top of being tasteless. If you were looking for a Diner in the Cypress area, go anywhere else. To top it all off the poor waitress requested the owner to come out and speak with us, and he refused to do so. We were 4 of the 5 people in the restaurant. The waitress was beside herself, saying we had no business paying for the meal. The owner told her to give a 10% discount to the tab. We had visited this diner in the past and had a pretty good experience so we decided to take another visit while on a breakfast date. Unfortunately, this time was not as enjoyable. First of all, after we ordered coffee, I requested honey for mine and when the server brought it out there was not a lot in the bottle but when I attempted to squeeze it into the cup, the top flew off into my cup. No big deal, I'll just get a new cup, right? Yep I did but then the server says we're out of honey but here's some sugar free honey. That was terrible, by the way. My wife has her coffee and the half and half creamer was a bit chunky in her cup. So needless to say this breakfast wasn't starting off too well. Now on to the food. I had noticed on the board outside a sign with specials so I asked the server about them. He mentioned a chicken biscuit with Honey butter. So I was torn between that special or the chicken and waffles. He had explained that the honey butter chicken biscuit was good so I asked him about the biscuits. He stated that they use Pillsbury biscuits which was kind of weird but hey those biscuits aren't bad. When I received my chicken biscuits, unfortunately, they were dry no honey butter. When I asked him about the honey butter he stated that they told him they don't have any honey left (again) but I could use what was left in the bottle I received earlier and asked if I wanted some butter to mix it. I said no to that idea because it makes no sense for a store to offer a meal that isn't even available let alone make the consumer make their own sauce. I overheard another customer say "I read somewhere that this is one of the best breakfast spots in the area." Needless to say, that review definitely was incorrect, at least on this day. Came here to grab some breakfast with my family. We were greeted quickly and sat down at a table by the owner. She then asked our drink order and brought us wrong beverages. We waited approx. 15 mins for our server to greet us and take our order. We ordered French toast, breakfast sandwich & a kids sunrise (pancakes,eggs & sausage) nothing too extravagant.
