Stopped into Native Blends today and loved it! My family stayed in the car while I ran in -- Elmer, the owner, was setting up chairs, but he immediately paused to take my order. Even when I told him there was no rush, he was attentive, kind, and ready to help. Super polite and easy to talk to. Ordered three smoothies -- the Blind Sally was a big hit with my husband and son (sweet, fresh, and flavorful). I had the Aquarena, which was nice and tart and exactly what I wanted. Everything tasted very fresh. The shop is clean, well kept, and has a cool, youthful vibe with some clothing and items to look through. We chatted briefly about my neighbor who recommended the place and their bowls -- I'll definitely be back with the kiddos to try those! Great experience overall. Great place for an acai bowl after a hike in the nearby trails! Or during a stroll around downtown San Marcos. They have a variety of options but we opted for the acai bowl, large, to share. You can pretty much make your own bowl, though adding extra toppings beyond a set amount costs more. Everything tasted fresh, service was quick, and the interior was cozy and festive for the holidays. It'd be five stars if they had more topping options and didn't charge for additional toppings, or more than one base (either way it's only enough to fill the cup). read more

The past few years, I frequently walked past this place and always thought it looked adorable inside, so I finally decided to give it a try. Walking in, it's a cute coffee shop full of plants, board games, and a decent amount of space to do work. I was greeted with a friendly welcome and they were ready to take my order instantly. I got a latte with lavender and vanilla. I was excited to hear that their lavender is literally lavender steeped for flavoring. Usually places use syrup, so it was a refreshing and great alternative to what I'm used to getting! The coffee was delicious and not artificially sweet. Great balance. I will say, it was a a tiny bit pricey for its size but the quality made it worth. I was the only one in the store but it took longer than I'd expect for my coffee to get to me. To be clear, this is an Herbalife business. If you are familiar, then you know what to expect. If you aren't you might get surprised. Herbalife products are always powders, artificial flavors, etc. It isn't an inherent downside but this establishment isn't upfront about it being Herbalife unless you ask. On a positive note, some smoothies are made with real fruit add-ins. Prices are not listed overtly so I only saw my price once I got rung up, 1 Smoothie was approx. $8.50. Customer Service: 10/10 The blonde girl who helped me was absolutely amazing. I mentioned it was my first time there and she explained everything to me and answered every question. Very helpful and nice! Protein Smoothie: 6/10 I got a "chocolate covered strawberry" smoothie and it was fairly average for what you get. I had no idea it was Herbalife until right before I ordered so just knowing this, I don't love it but if I liked Herbalife, it'd be 9/10. I just prefer smoothies without super processed powders. Ambiance: 8/10 Smelled like waffles and seems like a wonderful spot to study/hang out with friends! Plenty of seating for the size of space too. Overall, if you like/don't mind Herbalife products, it's a great place. I'm so disappointed with the recent changes this place made. They no longer use Herbalife and the new protein shakes are absolutely awful. I ordered my drink and got yo work thinking the young lady made me the wrong drink. After discussing with the employee she informed me that they switched to different products. It's unfortunate that now I must find a different place for healthy shakes. Beware if you haven't been there since the change. You'll be disappointed. read more

Oh man. I desperately wish I could rate this higher, I see some effort went into this place. I went into today for a highly anticipated tea after seeing their well-done online marketing. They were out of aloe, so I ordered herbal (which is caffeinated, you can't get uncaffeinated here). The tea itself-- it's not brewed. It's powder. Powder mixed with water. I'm not sure if there are vitamins or minerals mixed in with it but it tasted of something strange I couldn't put my finger on, like maybe ascorbic acid or something, like an Emergen-C packet. This wouldn't haven't bothered me much but it overpowered what sounded like really good flavors (peach, mango, coconut). The clincher was when I got wrung up... $10.83. Did something go wrong? I don't know what they're putting in this stuff, but they better explicitly state it to where the price lives up to it. I wish this place the best of luck. The interior was cute and had a quirkiness to it. There was a steady flow of customers and was clearly aiming to be a vibe. The powdered tea was simply too weird and eventually settled to the bottom of my cup-- and I poured it out due to the weird taste after a few hours, I simply couldn't drink it. read more
