[[HIGHLIGHT]]This coffee shop is cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really liked the location and it seems like a great place to study or hang out, have a good vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The barista was nice and helpful as well. The latte was not extraordinary, tasted like a typical vanilla latte- I wish it was slightly more vanilla forward but besides that, great. I asked about their house special Lambda latte but the barista did say it was really sweet but based on the latte she gave me, I think the lambda latte wouldn't have been that sweet so maybe I'll try it next time. read more

Terrible!! I ordered a lamba latte and a pour over at 4:03 and my order was ready by 4:06. How is it even possible to make a pour over on 3 minutes?? I'll tell you how, they got lazy and gave me a drip coffee. I can tell because it tastes like drip coffee and it was cold. Pour overs take an average of 10 minutes to make and come out steaming hot. Lazy workers and will probably never stop by this location ever again. I suggest you go elsewhere if you want lazy coffee. 1/5. Would give zero stars if I could just based off of this visit. I've been to the north Austin and round rock locations and have never had a pour over made in less than 5 minutes. Maybe these workers need to be trained by others from that location or just not half work it. read more

Very cool little coffee place, a bit off the beaten path but popular with students. Coffee is good and the decor's nice, plus the wireless connection is good and strong. On the minus side, seating is limited and the other drinks like the chai tastes a bit watered down. Still a very good alternative to Starbucks or other places in San Marcos, recommended. read more

I always have a very pleasant experience here. The baristas are very sweet and you can tell they take great care making your order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a nice cafe, it has big windows with natural light and a field it's nice if you're going in the early morning when the sunrises because it's very gorgeous to see.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The coffee is pretty good it's my favorite coffee shop in San Marcos. Cute little corner coffee shop! It looks like it is fairly new. Very spacious, they have couches and many tables to sit at. Lots of people come here to socialize and study. They have a small coffee menu, and my go to drink is the Lamba Iced Latte. This location doesn't have much food variety, but they have breakfast tacos and small bites. I also like how it's located near the street so it's easy to access and lots of street parking. They also have a window at the outside if you wanted to order there and not walk in. read more

I just went to lamppost coffee for the first time and it was a great experience. I'm not one to leave reviews but I ordered the Lamba latte and it was amazing as well at the pesto grilled cheese. I was just thinking the grilled cheese only had cheese, pesto, and bread but it came out and had ham and tomatoes as well. It was so good and affordable. The cashier and barista were sweet as well with a good attitude. This was a great little spot to stop off at en route to the outlet mall. The service was fast and friendly. The space was clean and spacious. Hubby was very impressed by the super smooth nitro cold brew. They served it with no ice, which not all places do, but I think they should. I ordered the lavender booch lemonade made with K tonic kombucha. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a very delicious surprise. I want to try more flavors of the kombucha. Great service, good atmosphere but the coffee and food could use some work. Tacos are pre-made, they were handed to me in a crumpled bag and were cold. I ordered an Americano and mocha both had a good light coffee flavor but were luke warm. For the prices I paid, it was pretty disappointing. read more

Three reasons why this is my go-to coffee spot in San Marcos / New Braunfels. 1. The staff are a big part of what makes this place so pleasant to come back to. They are friendly and genuinely care about making a good cuppa. And they know how to make a cortado correctly to boot. 2. The coffee roaster they serve is excellent. In fact, apparently they switched roasters (from Wild Gift to Servant Coffee) in part for improved consistency...so let's see over time how that works. I will miss Ethiopia Guiji, but look forward to trying new sources, such as Peru. 3. The space lets in a lot of light and there is a decent amount of seating types. read more

This coffee shop is my new favorite!! Super friendly and knowledgeable staff! Serving craft house coffee. I didn't know what that was, and one of the employees very kindly explained it to me. They have their own house syrup that is DIVINE!! Ask for the Lamba Latte. So decadent and delicious! I personally like mine "half sweet". I normally am an, "only buys iced coffee girl", but this place is the only coffee shop I actually look forward to ordering a hot coffee. Loved this place! Seeing cool and new places open in San Marcos is always my favorite. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. This place did an excellent job at ensuring that masks were worn by the staff and employees. Giving this a four star review because I feel like the blueberry muffin that I ordered could have been fresher or warmed up. This is still their second week of business so bare with them. They are ordering a new oven and plan on having tacos, sandwiches, and more. I know once they get that up and running things should be a lot more fresh. I'm wasn't a coffee drinker, but this is now a regular stop on my way to work. Everyone knows me when I walk in and they start making my drink. I worked for Starbucks I know the level of customer service expected, this place goes above and beyond that every time. Lamppost Coffee just celebrated its 10-year anniversary in July 2025! This dream, envisioned by our owner in his early teens, finally came to fruition a decade ago. There was an impressive variety of pastries on display, and the kids were quickly informed they could each pick one out later if they behaved. The restaurant also has several colorful walls and decorative displays that make for fun photo opportunities and selfies. We were seated at a large table toward the back near the restrooms. Service was friendly throughout the meal and reasonably attentive despite the restaurant being busy. To drink, I ordered the jalapeño prickly pear margarita, while my wife chose a peach, coconut, and strawberry margarita. Both had excellent flavor. My wife's drink was especially memorable--it tasted like a cross between a strawberry margarita, peach bellini, and piña colada. The only thing missing was a little more tequila, as both drinks leaned more toward the sweet side than the spirited side. The chips were slightly thicker than I typically prefer but still enjoyable, and the salsa selection was excellent with a pleasant level of heat. The kids ordered bean and cheese tacos from the children's menu, and the restaurant happily substituted fruit for rice without any upcharge, which we appreciated. For our entrees, my wife ordered the vegetarian enchiladas while I chose the fajitas. The fajitas were good overall, though the meat portion felt a bit light and seemed stretched by a generous amount of green peppers. The rice, however, was excellent and one of the better components of the meal. Before leaving, we visited the bakery. The kids enjoyed their donuts and cookie, while I opted for a guava empanada that turned out to be one of the highlights of the visit. Overall, Casa Maria impressed me more with its atmosphere, bakery, and creative drinks than with the food itself. It's a beautiful restaurant with a fun family-friendly vibe, a strong bakery program, and some excellent margarita flavors. I'd gladly stop back for the pastries and drinks--and if they ever decide to be a little more generous with the tequila, even better.
