I love this spot. I'm so happy to live so close to this inn. Beautiful food, divine deserts. Truly wonderful and farm to table like a lot of the restaurants around here. I love the quality ingredients and the care they put into everything the service was weird. Note to inn don't hire 18-20 year olds. We asked for a wine recommendation and she said I don't know I don't drink. Needless to say we didn't order a bottle. So service was kind of weird. Other than everything was good. I ordered a glass of wine for $12 and it was exactly 5 ounces in a tiny glass. If ya can't even do fries and pour paltry pours...well..you know...they messed up 2 burgers last visit...not expecting a miracle here - simply offer quality food. We really liked this place, they sat us on the terrace. The menu is creative which we love. We ordered a delicious burrata appetizer. I would have liked them to give us two more pieces of focaccia. The dish only came with two very small pieces. We ordered delicious hubuscus margaritas. I ordered the steak I loved and my husband a delicious hamburger. The desserts were delightful and the coffee impressed us. very good. Our waitress very courteous and helpful. I just would have liked them to place placemats and more napkins. First time there this Friday. Enjoyed the patio and the riverfront view. Brea (forgive misspelling), our server, was so upbeat, personable, positive vibes, and attentive. We've been coming here since The Narrows opened. Every so often we'll come back to give them another chance as our experience has always left us with the "meh" feeling. There's no question the owners invested alot into renovating the building. It's a beautiful building. There's just something strange about the ambience. It's dark in a few places, and the back left corner of the building has an annoying 20 degree slant that is off-putting when you're sitting in that section. The staff are pleasant, Mari is a good manager, she checked on us and I saw her checking on other guests as well. Our server seemed inexperienced, but in this labor market, we didnt mind at all. The food was hit or miss...with more misses. The chicken pate was an ugly plate. Toasted bread with a liver spread topped with diced pickled cornichons. The whole thing was brown. There was no contrast in color. The taste was average, there was nothing special about the liver spread, and it was thinly spread like butter. The scallops had good flavor and nice presentation. They were slightly smaller than what you normally get with what should be dry-packed scallops. Their version of egg rolls was the best appetizer we tried. It was hot, crispy, an the filling was delicious and properly seasoned. The accompanying sauce was just right, tangy and sweet. If everything was as good as this appetizer, this would be a 5-star review. Their bread that they offer as an appetizer was also very good. It's a little strange to see bread not complimentary, but these loaves are not the typical bread...worth getting. The fried oysters were disappointing. Fried oysters should be plump, juicy, with an exterior coating that offers a crisp crunch to contrast a plump juicy oyster. Each fried oyster looked like a small fried wonton. The oysters were small without much mouthfeel. I get fried oysters whenever I see them offered. These were memorably the worst I've had....ever. Entrees were a little better. The roasted chicken was a nice plate. The french cut breast (with wing joint) was juicy, and the vegetables and potatoes were flavorful. This was a good plate. The fried chicken which has been here since they opened has always been our favorite. The biscuit is really good and the chicken is a delicious piece. The steak frites was mediocre. They have always used a tender under shoulder cut which is popular as a tenderloin stand in. The beef was not seasoned that well, the accompanying cheese sauce was a strange flavor. The fries were good, crispy with some shaved parmesan (this is enough cheese, doesnt need a cheese sauce). To be fair, we didnt read through the description of this entree and probably would not have ordered it because of the sauce. The beer selection and cocktail selection is very good here. One of the best attributes of this place is the bar. It's a gorgeous bar. I think The Narrows is striving to be a destination dining place. My suggestion is to not cheap out on the quality of ingredients. It's a good effort so far and a few tweaks here and there and it could be really good. For me, I'll drive the extra 10 minutes and go to The Golden Pheasant down the road. read more

We live just across the river and the ole Indian Rock was one of favorite spots to grab a drink and a bite to eat, so when this place was purchased and completely renovated we we stoked. We decided to give this place a second chance after our initial ho-hum visit a few months ago and although we want to put this place in our restaurant rotation, sadly I must report that we must move on. The new owners have done a fabulous job on the building renovation and the decor inside is nice, however it just doesn't have that that same warm and cozy riverside feel. Food and service were good. The wife had the truffle Mac & Cheese which came served in a nice hot cast iron skillet. The combination of cheeses coupled with the breadcrumb topping made it very tasty but with the pasta being way over cooked and the cheese sauce being too soupy for our liking it was a disappointment. It could have also used some type of pork product in it and a little more time under the broiler. I had the Shrimp & Grits (who doesn't love S&G?) which was excellent. Two large (well seasoned) shrimp and some very tasty pork belly (ahem...Mac & Cheese) made this dish a winner. Now for the biggest disappointment... As semi-professional whisker drinkers, we pride ourselves on making a proper Manhattan, so when the bartender dropped a couple of dull, boring, plastic tasting maraschino cherries into our Bullet Bourbon Manhattans we both looked at each other in disgust. If your going to charge me $23 for 2 Manhattan's, you better fill my martini glass to the top and put a Luxardo Maraschino cherry in my drink. Oddly, they ran out of Bullet Bourbon while making our drinks, so the bartender informed us that if we each wanted a second drink, we would have to switch Bourbon. No big deal as there were several other choices but how the Hell do you run out of bourbon? This also begs me to ask... Is that why our drinks were lite? I also happened to overhear the male bartender tell a waitress that they were out of bud-light, which leads me to the next question... Who the Hell does the ordering here??? Good Luck! read more

My husband and I were out on a beautiful Sunday drive doing the Bucks County covered bridge driving tour and came across The Narrows right around dinner time. We sat on the front porch and were taken care of very quickly. Our waitress was amazing. Service was impeccable. We ordered the scallop starter which was perfectly cooked and delicious. My husband ordered the steak frites, also cooked perfectly. I ordered the fish and chips, and omg, they were the best fish and chips I have ever had. Fish was flaky and flavorful, the breading was perfectly crispy, and the fries were crispy on the outside, but soft and fluffy on the inside. The creme brûlée was to die for-perfectly creamy with a thin layer of crispy sugar, blueberries, and chopped pistachios. Great place and we will be back again. We had a nearby camp pick up and were looking for a good lunch spot. The Narrows did not disappoint. Great wine and beer selection. Our returning camper enjoyed the falafel sandwich, she said the house made chips were amazing. I enjoyed a steak frites. The garlic fries were outstanding. I'm not usually a fan but these were just the right amount of garlic and herbs to make them delicious with overwhelming. My husband declared the burger very good. Service was personal and attentive. The owner came out to chat with us when she heard we came from a nearby camp. We had called in advance to see if we could eat outside with our dog. Not only was it ok, but our table was ready for us with a bowl of water for our furry companion. Would definitely go again! read more

Awful! Restaurant is pretty inside but the food is terrible. Gave this place a few chances and each visit was worse than the one before ...I'm finally done here. Ordered grilled chicken sandwich that had almost an inch of black burn/char that was shoved in a bun probably hoping I won't notice. Sandwich was bitter and inedible. My friend ordered a well done burger and it came back nearly raw in the middle and burnt on the outside. Bacon on the side was old bacon...very dry and obviously frozen or cooked earlier in the day. Sliced pickles were dry. The place was near empty so not sure why the chef couldn't handle the order or re-do the obviously inedible, burnt chicken. They don't care imo. Sat in a booth that had bits of old food sticking out of the back of the seat. Clean the chairs, please. Place looks nice but they can't get it right. Ambiance is great. Especially on a nice summer evening. It's worth the trip just to have drinks on the patio overlooking the Delaware. The drinks are great BTW. It's also the only spot that I ever saw the sunset over NJ while in PA. For real! Now for the food, First. The menu is quite disjointed. There's an appetizer section, a salad section. And a starter section. And probably too many choices overall. Especially for a destination restaurant that does. Most of their business on weekends. With that stated, The appetizer bread is great. Whipped ricotta was perfect. And Salads were fresh. The entrees are where they missed a little. I ordered the prime strip. Medium rare. It came out Well done and had no sear on it. It was also cut in half. Big no no unless of course your resting it properly or pulling it out of a sous vide. No doubt it's a quality cut and it was super tender but to cook any prime graded beef to well done is blasphemous in my opinion. However, The accompanying onion rings were tremendous, dare I say some of the best I ever had. Put a tower of those in the appetizer section. They'll be a best seller. We also had some pasta dishes. Sadly the rigatoni in the bolognese was overcooked And the ratio of sauce to pasta was way off. Flavor just ok. We had some add on grilled chickens to our kids meals and they unfortunately were cut on a bias. That works for a thick whole breast but not a thin piece. Dried out. All and all. A fun place to go. And for those reading my review, know that I'm always quite critical of the food. Let's start with the reservation. We called and explained rd how many people we had and added, as we always do, that we had my service dog. They were amazing by giving us a room by ourselves! I can't remember the last time an establishment even offered that, one my book that was huge! They are super cool and very accommodating. Say down for the food and the room was super clean, not a lot of loud music or wait staff. The host brought me a drink right away and asked if I need any water for Pete (my service dog). The waiter gave us just the right amount of space without crowding but also timely service. The food came out and was awesome! We have never been there before and decided to give it a go, needless to say we were/are happy and will be going back. Thank you very much my hats off to the staff we dealt with! read more

Overpriced and meh. I ordered the seasonal soup and made the mistake not to ask what the market price was as indicated on the menu. It was squash soup, served in a huge soup plate designed to make you feel you had a decent serving but which has a tiny shallow center that MAYBE held 3/4 cup serving for $10. I don't mind paying $10 for soup that is a meal, like lobster bisque. But squash soup? The soup was barely lukewarm, not hot. I also ordered the short rib poutine at $19 because short rib is a favorite of mine and most items on the menu seemed VERY overpriced. What came was a small pile of steak fries with gravy and perhaps a tablespoon of short rib meat. For $19, i expect a little more meat since this was in the pub main course section of the menu, not appetizers or sides. The server was pleasant and attentive but not enough to EVER go back for these prices relative to the value provided. read more

Grilled calamari was gooey and tasteless, and the biscuit with the fried chicken I think was microwaved. Really unfortunate. The house burger was superb (pretzel roll was a little dense for my taste) but coupled with truffle fries and pickled cucumber mmm mmm mmm .My husband had their truffle mac and cheese which was to die for. Really pleased with our meal! Great table upstairs with river views and a warm ambiance. I respect any restaurant that takes their beer selection seriously. The VA oysters were great, better than our last batch at 3rd and Ferry's up the road in Easton. Our entrees were excellent, the ribeye was perfectly cooked and the duck confit ravioli with sunchokes were outstanding. The lemon ricotta donuts with coffee/cardamom ice cream were delicious, and the mint chocolate chip ice cream was our favorite. Such a beautiful setting --- on the outside. Inside, meh, all the charm of a diner. They spent most of their rehabbing money on paint and steel girders to prop the place up. Our table wobbled, and we had to prop it up also with some napkins. Bathrooms were clean. Portions of pretentious entrees at Sunday brunch were small, and overall all of our dishes were quite average taste-wise. Specialty drinks were very good however, as was the beer selection. The wines seem to have been chosen with care, usually a good sign that the food to go with them will be well crafted...but it was not to be. Our waitron, very friendly, but hard to track down at times, did not offer dessert or even coffee. Maybe we were too close to the end of brunch and she was told to hustle us out?
