Passing through this small river town and stopped for lunch and sampling of their craft beer. Thoroughly enjoyable. Ashley was very informative and friendly. Really cool building. Well worth the stop. Fun place. Would definitely return.

Been coming here on and off for 20+ years. Love the bar area and ambience. Staff are super friendly. The beer selection is good but unfortunately the in-house brews are not up to the quality of the other Hunterdon breweries. The food is average. It's a place I'd pop into if I'm nearby but it's not worth a special trip.

Food was delicious. The building is very very cool with a wood interior and we sat by the window that overlooked the river. Our server was so sweet:) the only reason it didn't get five is cause the food just took a little bit to come out but overall experience was great!!

This is not the Ship Inn of my youth, and it 100% suffers as a result. I stopped by for a mini-reunion with a few of my OG chums this past Saturday night. All of us grew up within a few miles of this place (probably .25 miles for me, or close to it), so we all have vivid memories of coming here as kids/teenagers. This was a unique watering hole with ye olde wooden architecture, 90% locals and great tater skins. As soon as we walked in though, we could tell that wasn't the case anymore - this is now an official tourist trap (most of the patrons were wearing khaki shorts and clearly wandered in from their nearby Airbnbs) and a lot of the genuine personality has seeped out of it. If the kitschy Bill Murray cardboard cutout by the door doesn't tell you that, I don't know what will. That's not to say this was a terrible experience - and anything with this crew would have been great/memorable anyway. But I was not-so-secretly hoping we'd have an awkward run-in with one of our high school classmates or something, though it's clear they've dispersed to a different locale now (maybe Artie's in Frenchtown?) Despite it being the Saturday of MDW, there was actually quite a few empty tables and we had our pick of areas (I opted for my favorite section to the righthand side overlooking the creek - still one of the best Milford viewpoints, in my opinion). Curiously, there was this weird makeshift dock/pier in the creek, and it wasn't clear what its purpose was. We thought it might have been there for an edgy musical act location, but it wasn't utilized while we were there and virtually every passerby on the bridge also stared at it quizzically. Mysterious. Anyway. Sit over there if you can. I wasn't insanely hungry so I opted for a bourbon-based cocktail (not sure the name - the website doesn't reflect the one I got from the speakeasy menu) with harvest-y vibes. A little too sweet for my palate but pretty tasty overall. One of my chums went with a Milford Mule - I'm sure the tourists don't know, but that's a fun play on words because the Mule was literally the mascot of our school - and wasn't crazy about it. I did end up getting the duck sliders app, knowing there would be leftovers (I had one out of the three while I was there), featuring my first experience with ground duck, gouda and I think bourbon caramelized apples. It wasn't bad but honestly it was on the bland side, which is surprising since they clearly tried to boost the taste profile with the toppings. I'm assuming that ground duck isn't really a thing for a reason. And if we're being honest, I was also a little glum about the fact that they took my beloved tater skins off the menu. Felt like an unforced error. No issues with our waiter - he was chill and accommodating, and when my chum the Shanimal stumbled in off the streets, grabbed a chair from a nearby table and made herself comfortable, no one gave us pushback. I don't recall a significant wait for anything, and it was a relaxed situation so it was nice that he sensed the vibe and gave us some space. I thought the price point was pretty competitive too, given that they're not going after the true blue Milford posse contingent. I can't say this is a bad place; it's not. But it's not as good as it was back in the day, both in terms of overall quality and vibe. And honestly? If I'm in the area looking for an edgy mixology cocktail to imbibe with my posse, I'm probably going down to Lambertville at this point. Bring back the tater skins!

Descendants Brewing is our usual break spot after a day on our Harley's riding through P.A. It's just over the boarder and when you're done you can ride over the Dingmans Ferry Bridge and enjoy some twisty roads. I always have a burger and a local brew. Has not let us down yet. Plenty of street parking right outside and very biker friendly town.

What a great vibe this place gives off. My husband and I discovered this recently and have been back twice already. If you're looking for a great brewery and a cute town this is your stop. We enjoyed some of their beers and appetizers and everything was terrific. The fried green tomatoes with cornmeal were absolutely out of this world and their wings Are quite good as well. Great for a date night or hang out with friends.

This is a sweet spot. I would definitely go back when I'm in town again. Huge selection of spirits. I got to try some yummy stuff there. I saw they did flights there but we didn't do that. Next time I think I will. Bartender was really nice, wish I remembered his name. I feel like i overheard him say John but I'm not sure. He was great. I got this old fashioned with bacon and it was sooo good. Maybe tooo much ice but still really good. My friend irdered other stuff for me to try I don't remember the names. Chartruse? Tastes like Pine trees BUT in a good way. Not exactly what I thought it would taste like. The vibe was cool and casual. The food looked really good. You can tell they have some regulars there that go for food. I will be going back.

Only two Descendant beers available, and when the bartender warns you one of the two available...well that is not good for a Brewery!

You can never go wrong with any seafood option on their menu. The Seafood bouillabaisse is huge and fresh and excellent. They have a wide variety of oysters and I recommend them highly. They also serve a Piedmontese beef that is exceptional. Rare finds that aren't always on the menu are "hog wings" which are split pork shanks done in a sumptuous glaze. Indescribably delicious. If they have the Lyonnaise potatoes on the menu, you have to try them. One hint is to make sure your entree comes with a side or that you order one. Most sides are large enough to serve two people. Service is always friendly and professional. We will definitely include this as a destination spot for dining.

I think it's a little tough to live up to the hype as the best restaurant in town - which is sometimes the result of the price point versus the quality of the offerings - but this is a noble contribution to the area. I came here for dinner last Saturday with my parents - they actually did eat at the Oyster House once or twice in the 90s, but this was everyone's debut at the Milford House. The entrance location is a little awkward; the door facing the road and the most obvious place to enter is not utilized by customers. You have to go around the building to enter through the backdoor, briefly through a more blue-collar bar area, and then into the rustic, more formal dining area. Huge points in their favor - despite the white tablecloths, they didn't even hesitate to let me in with my beach shorts and tank top (it was sweltering out, in my defense). Hunterdon County hospitality right there. To that end, our waitress was excellent. She was super personable/friendly, and I also don't recall a significant wait time for anything. Top-notch service, so at the very least this place is a recommend on that basis alone. Since I wasn't paying, I went for the Milford Old-Fashioned (I think $12ish), along with the Wild Boar Meatball app ($6) and the Crab Norfolk (about $42). I couldn't decide how I ultimately felt about this, but you can't really pre-game your dinner options here - every day, the Milford House posts their dinner menu on their Facebook page around noon. On one hand, I kind of love that the menu is different every day, but I wish you had a little more advance notice to make an educated dinner decision. I lean towards liking it, even though it meant I had to dust off my Facebook account as part of the process. (I moved to Instagram several years ago so I could look at dog pictures instead of political posts). I really liked the Old-Fashioned, and I'd say it's honestly one of the better ones I've had, likely because of the inclusion of brown sugar, which emphasizes the natural sweetness of the bourbon. I wasn't quite as crazy about the meatballs. Generally I'm massively into wild game, but while the meatballs were tender (my mother said it was because they were heavy on the breading), the meat itself was pretty dry and bland. Also personal palate preference-wise, I'm not crazy about crunchiness in meat, so the inclusion of chunks of onion wasn't one of my favorite decisions here. They weren't terrible by any means, but I doubt I'd order them again. For the size, I think $6 is a magnificent price point though. The Crab Norfolk was excellent. I honestly don't know if $42 for an entree like that is reasonable, but it was a solid serving and given that I've willingly paid $25 for a lobster roll with a fraction of the meat, I don't know that I have grounds to complain (also, as mentioned, not my money! My favorite kind of meal!). Crab always seems to get a rep for being the lower class sibling of lobster, but I think it's usually really tasty. The fresh, crisp pieces of bread it came with complemented the dish well, and it was a little reminiscent of a crab dip/bread setup, though obviously much more higher end. I'd definitely get that again. A meal at an establishment like that could easily set you back $100 or so, but I think it's definitely worth it from time to time. My hometown is unapologetically blue collar for the most part, but it's nice to get a little dollop of the finer things in life every now and then (especially when you can do so in your beach shorts).
