I heard about this restaurant opening just a few months ago. Atmosphere is clean, beautiful. Staff was friendly. Food is absolutely delicious -- my favorite was my sister's sinigang. Prices are decent for dinner, and much better for lunch. A liquor license is pending so I'm sure the atmosphere will improve with a fully functioning bar and karaoke... We drove up to Savannah to meet my daughter and her partner for a short visit and had dinner here. We love Filipino food and The Narra Tree doesn't disappoint The lumpia filling was tender and flavorful while the outside was crispy. (I've never had lumpia that was split like an avocado egg roll so it was a little unexpected. Usually they're short and skinny. Still delicious.) We enjoyed the pork belly, the pancit, the Kare Kare, and the garlic fried rice. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. We'll certainly be back. read more

It's wonderful to find a Filipino restaurant in Savannah; we were born in Manila, lived there for many years and still visit family there. We visited Savannah for a few days, and because we didn't have a car, we got delivery from the Narra Tree. Although it was good to get those familiar dishes, it was also a bit disappointing in quality. The sinigang was especially disappointing, lacking the expected tart broth, and instead a fillet in a thick tomato sauce. Granted, delivered food in plastic containers doesn't really hit the mark, but overall, the food was just 'reminiscent' of the real thing -- as if someone told you that a dish was made with certain ingredients, but you didn't really get to learn how to cook it or make it deeply tasty. And the vaunted "special sauce " was not so special. Maybe a visiting chef from the RP could give a few pointers? read more

Great spot! I went there with a friend and we got a few things: Narra lumpia, beef kare-Kare, chicken inasal, and for desert, halo-halo! The lumpia were FIRE and very filling. So you gotta save room for entrees and desert! The kare kare was super good too. It's like steak tips and vegetables on a peanut sauce. The inasal was what my friend got and it looked amazing and smelled just as good. So I've been hearing about halo halo and I had to try it. It's like a snow-cone and an sundae combined. It's different fruit and jellos, shaved ice and topped with purple ice cream! It's mouth watering!! Four of us picked Narraa Tree due to another Yelp review on a rainy Sunday night as we were awaiting a friend to be treated at St. Joseph's Hospital's ER (which is fairly close). Our dishes were excellent, and the service was also super. We were served quite quickly. The restaurant itself was pleasing and comfortable. The only knock was the men's room ( which was terrible - bordering on unhealthy as worry that they can keep it clean in the current condition). The floor is coming up, and the paint is peeling on the walls. It smelled clean, and the fixtures seemed fine. However, it was quite a shock since the dining area and food were so nice. Also, note that the signage on the outside needs to be better, as we did have a harder time finding it in the rain. That said, I hope the owners invest in an upgrade in the restrooms, and if they do that, I expect this to become an exceptional location. read more

The sweetest hostess you'll ever meet works here. Nice place and great music. The food is a complete miss though even the water was bad. The chicken lumpia was just okay but lacked serious flavor. The food looks amazing but the meat was a combination of tough and chewy. The rice was too crunchy for my taste and overall had a smoky burnt taste. The onions did not even have taste. We stopped in for the first time for dinner. The woman who greeted us told us to sit anywhere we liked. Our server was a nice woman who came by promptly and filled our water right away. It was our first time trying Filipino food so we were excited to try the food. Our server took the time to describe each dish we interested in. We had the Lumpia, Escabeche and Pancit. I'll start with the food, which is elevated while retaining the delicious, traditional flavors of each dish. It was my first time trying Filipino coffee and I was very happy with it, rich and sweet, a perfect balance of sweetness and strength. On top of probably the best Filipino food I've had not at my auntie's house, the service was welcoming and genuinely helpful. This is not a stiff fine dining experience despite the elevation in the plating and flavor of the dishes. We had the special lumpia, vegetarian lumpia, escabeche, kare-kare, longoniza burger and inihow chicken. The inihow chicken has the traditional Filipino BBQ flavor of sweet and savory. The kare kare, a peanut stew served with green beans and bok choy blended the flavors of the dish without taking away from each other, each ingredient adding a layer of flavor. Every time we travel we look for a Filipino bakery or restaurant and this is definitely one of the very best we've had in the southeast. read more

Found this place on a recent visit. Our group's first experience of Filipino food and it was awesome. I really love "sweet hot" and the sizzling pork platter fit the bill perfectly. (I asked for "spicy like your grandmother would make it", not sure how that translates to a scale of 1 to 5.) Companion #1's beef skewers were also excellent; companion #2 refused to share his grilled quarter chicken because it was so good. Service was great (but late on a Sunday night there were only a few groups of diners, so not sure how it is when the place is busy).
