There was a huge portion of them and I found them bland...didn't eat them all. I enjoyed the beans, but overall the dish needed some pickled onions or something bright to lighten it up. The corn salad helped, but it needed more. The spinach in the nyumbani was another favorite item -- very good flavor and would have eaten a side of just that with bread or something. Would definitely return here if in the area to house some sambusa, but we won't be going out of our way to try this again.

It is rich and smooth, and not too sweet. They still offer a selection of pastries, though it has changed with the owners. They are high quality. I tried the orange cranberry loaf, and was very good. They also have breakfast burritos available sometimes, but it seems like they go fast. I was thrilled that they now offer a yogurt parfait, as I was longing for something like that all the years that this was a daily stop. So yes, the ownership has changed, they have also opened up the cafe seating behind the counter area, and there is still great coffee, good treats, solid service from excellent people, and a great entry to this neighborhood near Detroit's north end.
