I also got my former mechanic to check CanLube`s workmanship a couple of times, including on rustproofing for a new car. They passed with flying colours. I am so happy to have piece of mind with this CanLube shop for my auto maintenance and repair. They have proved to be honest, trustworthy, fairly priced and friendly. It took two days to get the part just for it to be the wrong one. When I called the local dealership to get the part, I informed Mike but he told me it was the wrong one, refused to give me the part number and said they "go by the picture now". Was also told my battery (which was perfectly fine before I brought it in) needed to be replaced. I ended up having to purchase and install the light and battery myself just to get my certification on time which almost made me lose the sale of my vehicle. Never going back.

When I booked an appointment to get my air conditioning fixed I asked for a estimate and they said they would let me know. Dropped it off and asked again, they said same thing. That afternoon when the car was suppose to be fixed I called at 4:30 to ask and they weren't finished and asked for the estimate and wouldn't tell me until Monday. Monday afternoon we get a call and were told it's fixed. Under the consumer protection law (http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/statutes/english/elaws_statutes_02c30_e.htm#BK67) A shop may not fix your car until the owner of the car agrees to the estimate. They never told me! I came in and explained I was upset and the service was horrible I even said I wasn't looking for free ( also have a audio recording of the whole conversation) and told him I have no problem paying for half as this is his mistake and I asked numerous times. He then told me he would take the van if I wanted to and unhook it all but I have to pay for him to unhook it. After much polite arguing , we didn't get harsh he finally after 30 minutes said he would charge a little over half. Which we were fine about. I'm posting this as this shop needs to understand the consumer protection law, I could of taken him to court and not paid anything. But I didn't. Customers need to know their rights and not get bullied by shop owners. Own up to your mistake and meet the client half way . It doesn't need to be a struggle. What if I couldn't afford it at all? This is my regular repair shop and I enjoy their service. Yes they have had issues come up from…read moretime to time with delays on repairs but typically those have not been there fault, they've been things like parts not arriving when they were expected, etc. I've never had them complete repairs when I've asked for an estimate first and they've always been accurate when given. The folks there are always polite and easy to deal with. My only real gripe is the fact that they aren't open on Saturdays and due to my scheduling it's sometimes difficult to get my vehicle in when I need to but they do have a key drop box where you can leave your car and put your key in an envelope with instructions and they have always been decent when I've done that. I have no major issues with these people and they do honor their repair warranties.

If I could give zero stars, I would…read more I brought my car in for a quick front brake replacement because they were squealing (and any simpleton can tell when it's time for a brake change.) After several days, I received a phone call from them insisting that I buy four new tires & have them replace all four brakes. I told them to go ahead as I knew my tires were worn out & obviously my brakes were the primary reason I brought my car to their shop. A week later I was called to come in & get my car because it was ready to be picked up. I was greeted with a $2000 bill. I was having a bad day so I just paid it and left since that was just making my day worse. Once I got home I looked over the bill. Not only did they only replace my REAR brakes... But they threw in 2 new calipers on the back (which is ridiculous as my car is only 3 years old) that's when I realized that they completely disregarded what I asked for when I brought my car in, but they added something obscenely expensive without even asking me. They were $260 each, which added an unnecessary $600 to my bill. Not only that but they charged me $300 just for the labour. Also, a week later, the exact same squealing sound came back which seems like they did some sort of temporary fix so that I would have to bring it back in to them. Luckily I contacted my older brother & he checked the front brakes for me... What he discovered was completely worn out brake pads. They were purely metal scraping against my rotors which now meant that I needed my rotors replaced too. This means that they either didn't check them.. Or saw them & didn't care. Luckily with some strings pulled I was able to get PREMIUM PADS & ROTORS for a total of $100 & free installation by my brother. I have now paid $1400 more than I needed to when I just needed a simple brake job done. I wasn't born yesterday & I know that it doesn't take any longer than an hour to do brakes on a simple car, especially after watching the front ones done in an hour. I will NEVER come back to this scam of a shop & I will make sure that every single person I talk to won't ever bring their vehicle in to Master Mechanic to have their money stolen. Horrible service & they don't even seem like they care when you talk to them.
