Apologies, I started this review back in June when my dad and I visited Millinocket…read more After a long drive from CT and MA, my dad and I were looking for a place to get steak. The hotel proved a list of restaurants. After reviewing the offerings and recommendation from the front desk at the Katahdin Inn, we opted to head to River Drivers. We called in to make a reservation and at the appropriate time headed to the restaurant. Part of the New England Outdoor Center (NEOC), the restaurant is off the beaten path about a mile. Once there we were treated with this massive lodge like building with an awe inspiring view of Millinocket Lake and Mount Katahdin. The first night my dad and I each ordered the ribeye. Portions were huge and meat perfectly cooked. I enjoyed the OBC Wicked Blueberry, so refreshing. Second night my dad stuck with the ribeye and I ordered the Dark Sky Oatmeal Stout. This was one of the finest stouts that I have ever enjoyed. Wish I could get here in MA. Surpasses Guinness as my favorite stout. Instead of ribeye, I had the Mongolian Beef. Again portions were huge and the food was absolutely delicious. I could have made a meal of just the rice it was served with. The best part of the second night's dinner we were joined by several cousins some I haven't seen in 40 years and two I have never met, but happen to work at River Drivers. My paternal grandmother was from Millinocket, and had many brothers and sisters, so I cannot throw a rock without hitting a relative in this town. Disclosure I did not know I had to two cousins working at River Drivers and that has no bearing on this review whatsoever. I am looking forward to visiting Millinocket again with my wife and when I do we will be visiting River Drivers.

Made another stop here (on purpose this time) and was even more impressed! Glad we called ahead…read moreearlier in the day to reserve a table as the restaurant was bustling on the Friday before Christmas. Love the cozy vibe of the interior so much! I opted for the short rib wrap with potato leek soup, and my husband and his friend both got the all you can eat fish and chips. We were all very satisfied with our choices! Can't wait to stop here during my next visit to Maine.
