Pancakes with Maine maple syrup. - A white oval plate holds three large, golden-brown pancakes with a slightly crispy surface. A small plastic container of syrup is placed on top of the pancakes, and three packets of butter are arranged at the side of the plate. The plate is on a wooden table, with a wooden chair visible in the background. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment, likely a breakfast or brunch service.

This was pretty much the best breakfast I had this year. Home-made English muffin was great and the Tot Poutine was amazing. Many locals inside and friendly service.

a plate of food on a table - A plate containing sauced chicken wings, French fries with ketchup, and a pickle slice is placed on a wooden table. A person wearing a plaid shirt and a gray T-shirt is reaching for the plate, with their hand near the food. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment, possibly a restaurant or diner.

Great tots with cheese and onions! Sticky fingers plate was good, too. AT doughnuts sell out early!

This place absolutely ruled. I came here with my boyfriend the morning after hiking Mount Katahdin. Upon walking in, it was fun, spacious, and totally relaxed- exactly what you need after a hike and you're sore as hell! Our server was amazing. She brought us bottomless black coffee and chatted about the local area with us. The layout is so fun. There are AT signs and signatures of those who have finished the trail. It is so fun and not even cheesy. It all somehow works. My bf and I both ordered the Millinocket special- tater tots in cheddar, with eggs and homemade English muffins. OH MY GOD. THIS WAS LIFE CHANGING. We were starving in the first place, but this was so good, it filled a void in my sad soul. Cheddar on tots? With fresh eggs? And endless jelly and syrup on fresh bread?! Come here for the amazing food and friendly service. It is the absolute best place in town.

We ordered breakfast and discovered that they made fresh donuts if you order ahead of time so we came back the next day and we were glad we did. The donuts were amazing and the flavors were unique.

The Appalachian Trail Cafe's "open" sign was a welcome beacon following an 8+ hour overnight drive to Millinocket. It being an extremely early hour, my friend and I dragged our tired selves into the restaurant and were happy to see that there was a plethora of seating to choose from. There was a varied crowd... a circular table full of regulars laughed and joked over coffees, a couple quiet duos hunched over platefuls of breakfast goodies, and an AT Thru-Hiker fueled up at the counter. We slipped into a booth and were immediately greeted by an exuberant waitress, happy to take our order. I ordered a plate full of breakfast staples. While we waited for our food, I watched staff run around stocking displays with their freshly made donuts and pastries, offering refills on coffee, and chatting with other customers about their new electronic billing system. Many of the ceiling tiles had signatures from who I assume to be AT thru-hikers due to their evident nickname quality. While still examining the names on many tiles, our food arrived... It was surely welcomed but not particularly unique. My scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, english muffin, and smashed tater tots were pretty good... certainly welcome to my empty belly. I believe their is some sort of second floor store dedicated to the Appalachian Trail though we did not visit. I perused a small setup of products they had within the restaurant... a collection books, maps, stickers, etc. As a pin collector, I added a small AT collector's pin to the bill at the end of the meal. This place is "A-OK" as my 3-star rating indicates... its a quick, easy, no frills stop for a bite to eat near the AT.

Appalachian Trail Avocado BLT Double-Decker Sandwich w/Swiss Cheese, Sweet Potato Fries and Wheat Bread.

We have always stopped here for lunch for the past 5 years just before staying at a Cabin at Daicey Pond. First time yelping review so excited. Well busy time of day for a Sunday lunch and actually waited a while before getting our orders and waited a while longer for our Double-Decker Avocado BLT sandwiches. Granted the place was full up and we were just happy to be here with no rush. I think other patrons weren't as happy waiting for their meals. Our sandwiches were perfect and very tasty my husband had his sandwich with Swiss Cheese and mine was perfect the way they served it on wheat bread with a side of sweet potato fries, and a pickle. Obviously we ordered their Lemonade which is out of this world delicious. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get and their service is usually very good and always friendly. Recommend highly to come give it a try when you're up this area of Millinocket towards Baxter State Park.

Food was delicious. Sadly the menu was limited as it's the end of the season and they'll be closing soon. Wanted to try their homemade donuts but they run out early in the day! Others came in after us looking for them as well, my suggestion, at least make a batch for the afternoon crowd as well!!!

Don't sit if you're in a rush. This cafe operates on Maine time. Which is, well, indiscriminate. I love a down-home diner as much as the next "guy who thinks he's AP-ready, but isn't, not by a long shot." It's just that one of those charming qualities about local spoons is the prompt, albeit irreverent service from ladies who'll tell you some stories, they will. With an unexpected rush, our ATC experience went 2+ hours, and only 15 of those minutes were spent waiting for a table. Then it was 20 minutes to get menus, 15 to get drinks, another 20 to place our order and a whopping 50 minutes to be served a plate of overdone eggs, chopped tots and a very fine house-made English muffin, along with her "just okay" blueberry pancakes. We polished them off with a hunger haste, and waited yet again for the bill. Fortunately, you pay at a counter, so that went without delay, as did our desire to come flying back the next morning. Without a crowd, I'd put the food at a 3-3.5, and my coffee - yes, I had a coffee; I was bored - was smooth and aromatic. But two hours for a four minute breakfast? I just can't, not even with an $8 price tag. Pro tip: the famous donuts sell out quickly, so get there early. Like, sunrise early.

Quaint hole in the wall classic small town cafe. Friendly service, good food, great prices. And the clientele have a great stank weed aroma.

Made another stop here (on purpose this time) and was even more impressed! Glad we called ahead…read moreearlier in the day to reserve a table as the restaurant was bustling on the Friday before Christmas. Love the cozy vibe of the interior so much! I opted for the short rib wrap with potato leek soup, and my husband and his friend both got the all you can eat fish and chips. We were all very satisfied with our choices! Can't wait to stop here during my next visit to Maine.

First, the service was amazing. Our waiter was so nice, so attentive, and extremely helpful in terms of describing the foods and helping us choose beers. A lot of their draft beers are from the brewery they have on the property (Knife Edge Brewing). My friend and I liked their Blond Ale and their Moon Shadow Session IPA. The IPA was slightly citrusy, crisp, cold, and refreshing. Exactly how you would want a beer. For the food, we had the crab cake appetizer, the caesar salad, and the seafood pappardelle (pasta). Everything was absolutely delicious. The crab cakes were wonderful. Flavorful but not grossly fishy, soft, and the sauce accompaniment was great. My friend and I split the caesar salad and the pasta, so the portions you see of those in my pictures are HALF of what they actually are. The caesar was solid -- a nice sauce and clean, fresh romaine. The croutons seemed homemade and were really good. The pasta had three types of seafood -- shrimp, scallops, and Maine lobster. All delicious and with a tasty garlic lemon cream sauce . It was a good amount of seafood as well. I highly recommend this place. It's a little off the beaten path but well worth it!! As a plus, we spotted a wild fox while driving through the property to the restaurant!
