I used to really love living at The Monroe. I first moved in as an international student, without a Social Security Number, and paid a high deposit ($2,019). Despite the extra cost, the leasing office back then--especially Jessica and another white female staff member--was responsive, empathetic, and organized. I renewed my lease after the first year with zero hesitation. But things have changed dramatically. The new leasing team, particularly Caleb and Isaiah, has made my move-out experience deeply frustrating. I sent a written notice to vacate in April, well before my lease ended on June 3, yet I was hit with a surprise "Notice to Vacate" form assigning me a false move-out date of June 20 and charging me rent and month-to-month fees I never agreed to. Caleb sent me a handwritten PDF dated incorrectly (signed as 2029), ignored my lease's actual end date, and now insists that I owe prorated rent and additional fees all the way through June 30--despite my lease ending June 3 and the unit being cleaned and vacated on time. As if this wasn't enough, Building 1's elevator breaks constantly, and the office repeatedly sends inaccurate maintenance notices. They even sent two emails about the same holiday closure--one with the wrong date. The professionalism is gone. It's disappointing to see how far this property has fallen. I once viewed The Monroe as home. Now, I'm gathering documentation and speaking with legal counsel to contest these fees and protect my rights. I hope no other tenants--especially international ones--are taken advantage of like this. read more

SalutationsIn my opinion the staff member (JESSICA) is a racist -- I am a (self employed) contract worker via Wonolo and had an assignment with . I was assigned to work at the Monroe Apartments' package room on Friday July 7, 2023 at 2pm. I was having a hard time locating the package room, upon my arrival. Around 2:25pm I finally was able to get inside of the main building -- I saw the leasing office and one of the staff (the female with the blonde hair, who I feel is a racist; name JESSICA) exiting the office with two (Caucasian) males who appear to be . I introduced myself; showing JESSICA my credentials and access code via and informing her why I'm on the . I asked her how to navigate to the package room from the outside. I noticed her face begin to scrunch up while I'm talking. She responded with a unpleasant tone as her face remained scrunched, "well, why do you need to be here to notify the residence about their packages, don't they get notified when it arrives?" -- I again briefly explained to JESSICA the purpose and how works (perhaps maybe she forgot). Her face remains scrunched and I felt she was no help with answering my initial question, "how to navigate to the package room from the outside?" I said, "I will figure it out on my own, thank you" as I smiled and walked away. As I begin to walk down the hall to the package room, she and the two begins to make and - comments about me. They called me "a crazy" and "the wild," One of the Caucasian males said, "oh the crazies are out today" and the other male said "does the wild normally roam the property,"-- JESSICA replied back to them, "not normally" -- over hearing their - comments and conversation, I said "Excuse me, what did you say?" as I'm trying to enter my access code on the keypad of the package room. They replied, "we didn't say anything about you, we are talking about something else" -- the keypad was not working from the inside of that hallway. So I decided to vacate the property because I did not feel welcome. I left a Google review (originally posted Friday 7/7/2023) detailing my interaction with JESSICA. JESSICA contacted the team to inform them about my Google review; asking them to tell me to remove my review. She tells the team that I am unprofessional and that she spoke to and about me the way she did because I fit the description of someone who stole packages off the property. -- I feel like JESSICA racially profiled me. Even though I introduced myself and showed her my credential prior to "roaming" the hallway to the package room. -- I was left utterly confused and baffled about her reasons and justifications. I finally entered the package room via the outside entrance. JESSICA, was present. She made eye contact with me, scrunched her face and said in a stern tone, "can you come with me into my office?" -- I said, "Salutations, sure." We enter her office; "umm can you take down your review?" Was the first thing that came out of her mouth. I replied back, "I removed it already," -- another property manager enter the office. A gentleman (I believe his name is NATE) stood near the door. JESSICA, was trying to minimized her part and also defend the two Caucasian males part in the incident. "Had you said you were here to the packages I would have understood what you were saying," is what the JESSICA said. -- I responded with, "Audit? -- that's different; I'm not doing inventory on packages." -- she added, "well I didn't know who you were and I thought I needed to call security to have you removed from my property," she concluded as her face remained scrunched. I said, "you know what, I really want get back to my task-given-at-hand so I can quickly leave your property." These apartment owners can lick my butt. The rent goes from being 1200 something to 1700 within just a year in a half. Oh yeah and guess what my apartment is on the website priced as ahhh you guessed it 1200! That's exactly how they lore you in and then raise that damn price. Love living here. Super convenient to both Buckhead and Midtown. While right off Peachtree, the proximity to the Northside Beltline makes you feel like you live outside the city. The unit is beautiful, quartz countertops and gorgeous color schemes. The living area in the unit is large which is perfect for entertaining, since the majority of your time is spent in this area. Building is quiet. Only complaint is that since there is no carpet, the noise can travel and you can hear neighbors above you. Typically a non issue though. Overall it's been a great move, plus having the option to rent a garage is a bonus! read more

I am very happy with my choice to live at the Monroe. The location is fantastic being right on the north beltline with a lot of green space and access to nature. It's also only 2 miles north of Midtown - totally walkable. The staff are great, incredibly helpful and I find everything to be very well managed and organized. They are very friendly and organize social events too. The building is kept clean and, being so new, everything is high quality and modern. read more

NOTE: The Monroe is currently offering incentives to people living in the apartment complex to leave reviews...which I think is unfair to people checking this site for real information, so I'm posting my complete personal experience. I moved into the Monroe when it was first constructed, and all in all, had a pretty decent experience. Yes, visitor parking is difficult. Yes, they are super strict with parking in the deck and I did receive a boot that the office was not able to remove (because although I had given the Monroe my license plate, I hadn't put the sticker on my new car yet). Yes, some people don't clean up after their dogs so that can lead the expected issue. I, in fact, thought that the Monroe was so nice that I actually moved back in a year later. I will say that this experience has not been nearly as nice. We've had issues with our apartment (it was not clean upon moving in, since then we've had water leaking from the ceiling, etc). In addition, I've had issues with management (unclear and conflicting information, general lack of willingness to help, and in general, "attitude"). I am mostly disappointed in their current push to have residents provide an online review (and while it doesn't say "Provide a good one.", it does say that you will be entered into a drawing...leaving residents to know that review names will be matched). Either way - I would not recommend for a friend to move into the Monroe. While it has a nice pool and access to the belt line, I don't think it's worth dealing with the staff and the building issues for the price point. read more

PROS: - Quality apartments - Beautiful flooring, countertops, & cabinets - Nice gym & pool - Has its own beltline - Trash pickup (huge bonus) - Safe apartment (from my experience- your packages can sit outside of your door all weekend and no one will take them) - Apartment events (if that's your thing) - Covered parking CONS: - Parking: you HAVE to have a tag to park in the structure because they pay a company to boot/tow your car, which is nice to keep non residents out, but I had a rental once and got home from work after their office closed so I parked in my normal spot and in the morning my car was booted and it cost $75 to take off. I tried speaking to management about this because I was clearly a resident who pays to park in the structure and could prove that it was in fact my rental. I received attitude from everyone I talked to about it- they clearly wanted nothing to do with the situation and I ended up just having to pay $75 to park in my apartment complex's structure- seemed weird that they didn't have any other way to deal with this situation as I'm sure it happens frequently OVERALL: I was really upset with the whole car parking experience and the way that management handled it/me, BUT, the Monroe has truly been a great apartment complex to live in and I would definitely recommend it to a friend! read more

LOVE my apartment at The Monroe. The interior design is so chic and fun for an apartment: beautiful hardwood-like flooring, gray or white kitchen cabinets, bronze or chrome hardware finishes. I like how they have different design schemes (contemporary and traditional) to match your style. The management is so nice here! Shoutout to Matthew, Blythe and Jessica! The Monroe is one of the nicest apartment complexes I've lived in (and I've lived in a few different types of apartments around the country). The interiors are exactly like the photos: modern, sleek, and clean. The high ceilings help with noise from above (although you will sometimes hear your neighbors moving around; it's still an apartment building after all) and I have never heard any noise from either of my next-door neighbors (I hope the feeling is mutual!). All of the common areas are clean and well-maintained and my husband and I love the complimentary coffee and WiFi for all residents in the lounge. The office staff and maintenance staff are always friendly, pleasant and helpful. If there is a problem (and we've only had very minor problems) they are quick to correct it. It's convenient to be able to submit maintenance requests and payments through the online portal. The Monroe gets a 5-star rating from me because it was the perfect place for us to stay while we looked for a home. I'm writing this now because we expected to stay through our lease (Jan-Sept) but have found the perfect house and are moving out earlier than we had planned. In spite of this, Jessica has been super helpful explaining everything about the early move-out process (yes, there is an early termination fee, but we knew that and it was clearly stated in the lease) and we have still had all of our needs taken care of even though we are such short-term residents. My husband and I rented sight unseen because Matthew was so responsive to our questions and concerns about the leasing process and they are super pet-friendly. We have no regrets about our choice and are sad to leave (but happy we found a house!). Overall the Monroe is a great place to live and it's exactly as advertised. read more

I have lived in several apartment complexes over the last 10 years in Atlanta ( mostly Post Properties) but the Monroe has been my favorite thus far. I'm in my 2nd year at this property and my girlfriend and I have been loving it here. The building is fairly new and the inside of the apartments are nicely designed -- you can see for yourself in the pics they have on their site. You're close to Buckhead and Midtown --- basically in between the two. Location is great. My favorite part is the connection to the BeltLine where you'll see plenty of people go for a run or walking their dogs. Great pool, nice gym and the clubhouse is nice as well. My personal experience with the staff, even though it has changed a bit since I've been here, has been great and they've been very accommodating. Maintenance crew is also great. The only cons I can think of is the parking situation for your friends or family that might be in town. The parking deck is restricted to residents only, which leaves guests to have to find parking outside. The other con is the frequency of power outages. If there's a storm, you're most likely guaranteed to be without power for a few hours. Not sure that this is a Monroe issue but it's one you'll have to deal with until GA Power fixes it. Overall, you cannot go wrong with this property. I'd recommend to all my friends. read more

I have lived in the Monroe for almost a year. I followed the staff from their previous property to the Monroe right when it opened, and I was one of the first move ins. The main reason I moved to the Monroe was because of the amazing staff... They are the best there is in apartment communities. They are always extremely friendly and treat their residents like personal friends. They have always been very efficient in responding to my emails or service requests. There are almost weekly (free) events coordinated with food and alcoholic beverages in the club room or a local restaurant. It's been a great way to meet the neighbors! I love how new the Monroe is, my apartment is beautiful and upscale. All the finishes are exactly what I would've picked in my own house, if I could afford to buy in this area. The Monroe is also in the perfect location, central to Buckhead, Brookhaven, Midtown and the Westside. You can walk to play golf at Bobby Jones golf course, a short distance up the Beltline to play tennis at Bitsy Grant, or up to Peachtree Rd to the local restaurants like Holeman and Finch and Eugene. Fresh Market is conveniently located within walking distance as well. I love using the Beltline in the spring and fall, it winds around a creek and has beautiful nature... it doesn't even feel like you are in the city. It is perfect for running... mostly shaded and if I go to the very end and back and don't take and side paths it is almost 2.5 miles. All in all, I wouldn't live anywhere else! Be very careful and get everything they say regarding fees in writing if you apply. I was told after I viewed an apartment that if I applied within 48 hours that my application fee would be reimbursed. Unfortunately I did not pass the application process, but when I tried to contact the Monroe management office about getting the $300+ application fee reimbursed since I had applied within 48 hours, they dodged every call and failed to return the messages I left regarding the issue. I had to open a dispute with my credit card company to attempt the resolve their fraudulent claims that it would be reimbursed. Perhaps not passing the application process was a blessing in disguise if this is the way management handles business affairs. read more

I lived at the Monroe for 7 months and although it started well, it ended terribly. Before I mention the negatives I will start with the positives. MATTHEW. He is amazing. He is so kind and personable. He recently got promoted and deserves another promotion already. He could run that apartment complex single handedly. I do not have enough positive things to say about him! Unfortunately, the rest of the staff had no where near Matthew's professionalism and kind personality. While living there, my storage unit on the 4th floor got broken into and $3,000 worth of clothing and luggage was taken. Management claimed that there was security on property, yet their security guard was a full time police officer that patrolled the property when he was home. This does not constitute security in my book. Also, there are no cameras in the hall ways or stairwells so they did not catch a thing. I filed a police report and because there was no physical damage to the door since they picked the lock, my insurance company (the plan Monroe recommends) did not cover a single dollar. I then asked Monroe to cover some of the cost since this occurred on their property and they also had insurance, and they told me simply there was nothing they could do. So I ate the $3,000, plus the move cost and Monroe barely batted an eye at the situation. I was appalled by the way this was handled. Monroe never sent out an email to residents telling them to check their storage units. This easily could have happened to many more people, yet Monroe did not even have the decency to warn their residents to check. I emailed Jessica these concerns on our email chain and didn't even receive a response. The only compensation they offered was a refund of my $75/month storage unit and told me they would put a deadbolt on the door. Yet two months later when I was moving my stuff out, there was still no deadbolt. There should have been a deadbolt on it from the beginning so this wouldn't happen. Overall, I would not live at the Monroe again, and in fact three other friends I have that live there are all moving out as well. The building loses power every time there is any kind of storm. They do not upkeep it well (the carpets are incredibly stained and the walls are dented and chipped), the staff (excluding Matthew) is rude, and there is absolutely no security. I write this with the hope that I can help another young single girl who is looking for a safe place to live. read more

Wonderful community, staff, amenities and service! The very few minor issues we have had have been immediately addressed by management. The community also stays so CLEAN! Maintenance requests are processed quickly and efficiently. There are wonderful resident events a couple of times a month (and pretty well attended!) so that you have the opportunity to get to know your neighbors and the staff. I'm coming up on my one year anniversary at The Monroe and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else! Perfect, centralized location - close to the city/Midtown/Buckhead, but you can also get out to the suburbs relatively quickly on a reverse commute. Beautiful interiors/design with updated appliances, and great views from the balconies. Right on a golf course and a three-mile stretch of the beltline -- perfect for running/walking and for people with pets. Covered/gated parking and a very safe community IMO, not to mention a great gym, pool, and community events put on by the staff. I love my home here and would definitely recommend it to a friend. read more

This apartment is the best complex in Atlanta!!! What a wonderful experience I have had thus far. We are renewing our lease in a couple of months as well (something we have never done before.) The staff is amazing... especially Brittany. They all are so helpful, kind and very caring of their residents. I agree "Ashley must have been off her rocker." Be mindful this is apartment living. I love the Monroe not only for their amenities, floor plans, location, diversity, and staff; I love this apartment because it is very safe. Moving to Atlanta as a young girl can be very dangerous; however, I feel 100 percent safe in my apartment. They provide meet and greets for all residents to meet their neighbors and friends. The location is great - right off a Beltline trail and the units and common spaces are well-appointed. MONEY SUCK WARNING: I am extremely disappointed in how I was treated as a resident. Even if you have a parking decal and pay for parking here you are STILL at risk for getting your car booted and/or towed. I am a resident here, have my decal placed correctly on my car and I still had to pay $75 to get the boot removed from my car in the complex that I live in. In the parking garage there are clearly labeled spaces that are Reserved Parking, however apparently the parking deck with out any reserved labeling is reserved! I moved my car to the parking deck for a few hours in order to get my windshield replaced because it was dangerous and also illegal to drive with a cracked windshield, since the nice guy replacing my windshield couldn't fit his truck in the parking garage. So in order to not damage the parking garage or park on the street and block on coming traffic I moved my car to the half empty parking deck and parked far back in the furthest corner spot so as to not be in anyone's way when the service man in his truck arrived. When I came back down 1 hour later to meet the service man my car was booted. I went and spoke to the front office and explained why I had moved my car there but apparently it was my fault for not knowing that ALL of the parking spaces in the unmarked parking deck in the complex that I live in and pay for are reserved. If someone from the front office would have contacted me, since it was the middle of the day and they were there, I would have gladly ran down and moved my car right away. read more

This is MY PERSONAL experience with The Monroe. This may not be yours or anyone else's. MY ISSUE: After only living there for 2.5 months I had to break my lease and move out due to excessive noise from my neighbors above me. I gave it a good 3 weeks before I asked the management staff to address the issue (they were new tenants and i assumed the noise was from unpacking initially). They walked as if they were 500 pounds with constant running/stomping) from room to room. The Monroe is a new complex but, it is poorly constructed. My unit was on a slant so my couch and tables looked uneven. The laminate floors throughout with no carpet didn't help with the noise either. I received an email response about my noise complaint from the office manager JUDY stating "well, they said they aren't being loud". What kind of answer is that to give to a tenant? OF COURSE they would say that because they don't want to get in trouble. I tried politely asking management to handle it. I would bang on the roof at 2am when the noise would be happening. Nothing worked. I went to the corporate office and pretty much told them that i would knock on their door and have a conversation with them myself if MANAGEMENT didn't do their job and correct the issue. 10 minutes after leaving corporate, my phone rings and i was offered to leave with no lease penalties. I asked why i would have to leave instead of the management just rectifying the issue. I JUST MOVED IN, WHICH WAS ALREADY A HASSLE! So now i'm pretty much being forced to move out by July 1st (which was only 2 weeks away), pay for another moving company, and lose my deposit fee! when I asked why cant they just send them fines or warnings like they're supposed to do for the trash violations, I got no answer as to why but, they kept pushing me to break the lease. MANAGEMENT: Brittany (leasing) is very rude. from her gestures to the way she speaks to people. Ive spoken to other tenants who agree. That's no coincidence. Brittany is the managers "friend" and they are often spotted together outside of business hours on the property (brittany lives at The Monroe) so maybe that's why Brittany gets away with her poor attitude. Jessica (assistant manager) is ok when she's not around Brittany or Judy. Jessica does a poor job of answering emails also! Shauna (leasing) is one of the NICEST people I've ever encountered. Shauna is always pleasant and never has an attitude. I told management that the ONLY maintenance person allowed in my unit was Jose. They didn't listen and sent in the maintenance manager. The maintenance MANAGER is very lazy and wrote a rude note on a work order pertaining to my clogged toilet. JOSE is a maintenance worker from Five East and The Monroe (both Matrix properties). I asked for him specifically when I had a work order because we already built a report and I could trust him in my unit when I wasn't home. Jose is AMAZING. Always sweet, and always fixes the issue the 1st time, the RIGHT way. They work that man into the ground and they treat him horribly (even though he's worked for Matrix for years)! Being a minority (Afro-Latina) in a predominately white apartment complex/neighborhood, I knew why they had no regard to my issues and tried their hardest to make sure i knew how unimportant my issues were. Judy (manager) gave me H#LL to move into The Monroe, even though I make $80k a year and I had lived in a Matrix community prior to The Monroe (I left on good terms). I was asked for my bank statements since I am self-employed. Judy investigated the transactions on my bank statements, asking me why i paid certain places, etc. Judy was only supposed to verify MY DEPOSITS for income. It was invasive and offensive for her to ask me about where i am spending my money and why. I have a feeling that my race played a major part in how I was treated by management and corporate because there are no other logical reasons for their blatant carelessness as it pertained to my situation. OVERALL: New, looks pretty good inside and out, MY unit was very dark with almost no sunlight, VERY DUSTY from dust trying to settle, low ceilings, this walls and laminate floors makes for a noises stay depending on your neighbors, the pool area is nice, The gym is small and uncomfortable; 2 people in the gym feels like too many. The Buckhead belt line is right behind the complex which is cool. My unit (2304) is a 1 bedroom. My stay was not worth the $1700 price tag. I especially didn't appreciate how the noise issue was poorly handled by management and that I had to move out with no fees refunded to me by Matrix (deposit, mover fees, etc), and I had to move out after only living there 2 months. I LOVE this community! The residents are nice. It's quiet and tucked away in a quiet neighborhood! I like the aesthetic and feel of the apartment. Nice shaker doors and cabinets with bronze rubbed fixtures! Huge walk in subway tiled shower. Close to the Belt Line and Tennis courts. We moved in on the 4th floor and don't hear any of our neighbors. The resident clientele is nice and quiet for the most part. Everyone speaks and says hello. No loud parties or excessive foot traffic. We love living ITP with a suburb feel of the neighborhood. The staff is excellent! We had a super easy move in experience. The maintenance crew is always picking up or cleaning something. Residents pick up after themselves. The pool is great! I highly suggest anyone wanting a mature and manicured property to move here. I have been at many properties that are full of parties or late night issues. This property is nice and lives up to its look! I would highly recommend it!! read more
