I really like this. Came here for the annual 12X12 exhibit. Take 1 photograph of a theme announced once, every hour on the hour 2. Intepret the announced theme in a single shot 3. 12 shots in total meaning you're on the hunt to interpret a theme each hour for 12 hours. 4. The photograph is on film. Not digital. 5. This year's catch is.... black and white film only. I've come out to this exhibit every year since it's inception. They had it at another venue in previous years, but it was horribly crowded and stuffy. This was a welcomed change, much welcomed. Maybe next year I'll do it. I'll have to dust off one of my film cameras.

Seeing, and more importantly,…read morebeing able to enjoy spaces like this are rare, especially in cities like ours where there seems to be an overwhelming need to make everything shiny and new. (yes there are foundations in place to protect our heritage buildings, but I'm making sweeping generalizations here) When the Salt Building was first being revitalized during the pre-Olympic building-frenzy era, there was talk of the space being used as a pub or high-end restaurant or some other variation on that theme. Though it may have been entirely acceptable -- and maybe even great -- if that were the case today (and who knows, it may very well be the case in the future), but it almost seems as though that would be a bastardization of this minimal bare-bones structure. The building is gorgeous. Bookended with mammoth-sized windows, allowing plenty of light to pour in throughout the almost 14,000sq foot space, exposing the elaborate timber trusses and metal hardware, and shining of the polished concrete floor, there is not one thing I'd change here. It would be a shame to cover any of it up. A perfect event location, an ideal gathering space, an overwhelmingly stunning surprise in an area that is known for making everything "pretty," the Salt Building is, at this moment, a perfect homage to its historic past.

Sadly none of the spots are free. Guess the Park people have to eat. The venue looks quite good for a building that's over 100 years old. Very classic renovations. There is a garden in front of the building. The building itself is split into a larger room in front, and a smaller room in the rear. The rear room especially looks like something that can be used in a movie. The catering here is top notch. Probably some of the best steak and prawns I've had in recent memory. It was so beautiful. Most banquet halls have mediocre buffet food, but this is not one of them. Special mention. Definitely recommended if one needs a venue for a special event.

Right from the start, Kate, the venue coordinator, was fantastic to work with. I met with her about 4-5 months before my event for an initial walk through and fell in love with the space immediately. If you're interested in booking this spot, make sure you book well in advance since their available dates fill up very quickly. The open-warehouse concept is perfect for any kind of event. The space itself is about 9,000 feet, has got white walls, plenty of windows and doors, large wooden pillars and string lights hanging at the center of the space. Other than that, you had to use your creativity to design the space. They also have renovated men's and women's bathrooms, a storage closet to hide boxes and such, and a serving area if you're bringing in caterers. With its convenient location and beautiful features, The Pipe Shop is really a perfect spot to host your next event or wedding. Excited to host another event here in the future.

They are made on-site as far as I know. - Full bar with domestic and import beers, spirits including scotches and 6 beers on tap. Cons - A little bit stuffy in some way with metal plaques on the walls from old events, this place really has 125 years of history - A private member's club, so you won't be able to just walk into the venue to enjoy the view - There is one pulldown screen on stage and the projector was decent but could be a bit better - Audio was also not as loud as it needed to be and it was already on max - They had wired mics, no wireless Damage -A few thousand dollars. Our coordinator, Nicole, was full of great suggestions and responded to every one of our last-minute, frantic emails with grace and helpfulness. The bar manager, JJ, gave us everything we needed during setup the day of, and provided all logistical support with our dj, florist, and guests with a smile. Bar staff were full of laughs, good humour, and friendly. The venue is wildly charming, the main hall has a wrap around licensed deck that looks over Coal Harbour providing stunning views day and night. Our guests from the prairie provinces were in awe all night. Emelle's catering, exclusive caterer, provided food and service for the wedding and we couldn't have been happier. Food was 5 star, and service was friendly, efficient, and unobtrusive. Venue and alcohol service costs are very affordable, especially in comparison to other local venues. Can't wait to have another event there!

Note: It was a little hard to find since it's street number is 300, but it's not where you would expect (i.e. closest to Hamilton and W. Pender). On my first visit, I wasn't sure what the Zaku Zaku cream puff was, so the staff kindly let me try a sample. I was sold immediately. The custard was light and creamy, and the choux was perfectly crisp on the outside. The flavor brought me right back to a cream puff I had years ago in Saitama. It was such a familiar taste, and I hadn't been able to find it again until now. I'm so happy I found it here. I came back the following week, but unfortunately most of the popular items were already sold out. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu. It's been a few years since the last time we had a non ice cream cake for her birthday. I had fun researching online where to buy her Tiramisu cake from. Looked at sizes, shapes, prices....etc. Finally settled on this Tiramisu cake from Patisserie Le Pont. Awesome choice! Very very happy with this Tiramisu cake. The coffee flavor was very strong and the sweetness level was nicely balanced. A lot of other places made their Tiramisu cakes very fancy looking. This one had the more simple, traditional look which I preferred. It also made it easier to slice and share. The one thing that could have been better...there was so much coffee in this Tiramisu that it seemed to somehow spill out of the cake and onto the cake board. This made things a bit messy. I had to search for a platter in the kitchen that would be big enough to hold the cake on the cake board as the board was too messy for us to lay it straight onto the table. Love that it was loaded with coffee, but it was possibly a bit too much or else some new method needs to be found for keeping the coffee from spilling out and making things messy. Highly highly recommend this Tiramisu cake. It was sooooo good!
