The experience is as good as your engagement. Come here to work, learn, and eat! The fact that there are talented chefs here who are sharing their knowledge in a closed setting is reason alone for the price! This is I want to surprise that special someone event, or I want to learn a technique to blow the minds of my friends/ family/ loved one event. We went for Crepes which are dear to my heart being creole and all. The class and chef did not disappoint even in the cold weather. Great experience!

I had the most AWESOME time in the Pride Mixology class. I loved all of the drinks I made. The class was packed but not too many people. The atmosphere was lively and fun. I enjoyed taking this class with my daughter and co-workers. I loved the step-by-step directions and the discussion about the ingredients. I am totally new to making cocktails. I plan on attending more classes. I highly recommend all Mix classes!!!!!

I took the macaron class with Chef Aaron. It was such a good class. He was very knowledgeable and instructed us well on how to make the macarons. He was hands on and helped me to pipe my batter the correct way. I can't wait to try another class soon.

During our Fall Sales Meeting, we hosted a team event at The Mix. We did a Brownie and Booze class which was so much fun. Our team had a blast and really enjoyed the experience. It was our first time doing a culinary class together and we had so much fun. Tommy Tucker was fabulous and very patient with our entire group. I'd highly recommend as a team activity.

Our office had a daylong retreat for some training, and my boss wanted to incorporate a team building activity. We ended up using space in Mitchell Hall, and our team building activity was to break up into teams to make lunch together under the guidance of Chef Shawnie Kelley and Columbus State's Mix staff. Each team had a recipe to work from, and Chef Kelley and Mix staff members came by each station to give the groups an overview and help them begin to prepare the food. As we worked, staff came by to check on our progress and offer tips and techniques to help us along or advise us on how/when to transition to the next step. In less than two hours, we had made five separate, delicious dishes from scratch: meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce, chicken kebabs with an herby yogurt sauce, savory flatbread, cous-cous salad, and an Lebanese mint-cucumber salad with optional goat cheese. It was more than enough food for the 15 retreat participants and our culinary guides. We had a fantastic time! The Mix team provided everything we needed in the kitchen: gloves, measured ingredients, kitchen tools, etc. They helped keep our workspaces clear and productive by taking away scraps and used dishes/pots/utensils. It was a really great way to break up our training time and interact with one another outside of our normal routines. I look forward to attending a Mix class, and I highly recommend a similar experience for anyone wanting to incorporate a team-building activity into their retreat or meeting schedule.

It definitely broke up the usual Columbus activities. We did paella night and it was a blast. They are BYOB so you can bring drinks/wine and they have all the glassware and openers needed! Baking macarons is a tricky thing and Damaris did such a good job breaking down all the steps. She gave us lots of tips and tricks for our home baking, and you can see her passion for what she does. That said, I have been to several of the cooking schools in Columbus and this was my least favorite overall attendee experience. It was more expensive, yet very "basic" for lack of a better word. All of the cooking classes I have attended come with some kind of amenities - a welcome cocktail, wine bar, cheese and crackers, hot coffee/tea, etc. Something. This class was three hours long and there was nothing offered but water and iced tea (on a 20 degree day). We also did not receive any kind of information prior to the class, so parking was like solving a mystery (hint: the parking lot is behind the house down a side alleyway)

I always assumed for some reason that Quinci Wmporium was a kitchen and housewares store; I…read morerealized I was wrong when I saw a posting somewhere from (I believe it was) Columbus Food Adventures talking about there Friday happy hour special. Intrigued (I'm infatuated with places that offer quaint happy hour deals), I quickly bookmarked Quinci, and had been wanting to try their offerings ever since. I follow QE on Insta, and I was completely engulfed in a picture they posted of their current Spring Quiche ANNNNNND the Sicilian Lemon pie. I started salivating immediately, and knew I had the try it. Also, with it being Easter weekend, what better items to show up with at the family table. Yeah, go ahead, I scored on this find. Deborah looks to run the front of house, as she's the lady I kept contact with via the phone to place and pick up my order. She was so polite. She was running the show when I arrived to pick up my goodies and was very thankful for my business. So, Gwen, did you like the quiche and pie? Uhmmmm, let me think ab- YES!!! So fluffing good, both. The quiche was not hot, and Deborah gave verbal recommendations for how to serve it if we wanted it warm; we warmed it in the oven, dear me, it was SO GOOD! I forget the exact components of this pastry, but it had plenty of eeg, spring veggies, it was incredibly decadent! I highly recommend you pay attention to their Insta page for any and all seasonal offerings, then buy one for yourself, and one for me. Thank me later. The Sicilian Lemon pie was enveloped with a flaky, but solid pastry crust - a great dessert to end the meal. Fresh lemon and zest - I can totally tell the difference between the two, and this sweet sensation was for sure the real deal! Fair warning, this was quite rich, and one piece was plenty. Sharing it with the fam and friends was the perfect solution. I was told - a year or so back, they have a Friday happy hour special for $10 that involved a charcuterie board and wine, so damn straight I need to go back to QE and check this out!

I took the class by myself and had enough food to make a meal for 4 and have left overs. Everything was measured out for us when we go there. Only thing I really had to do to prep was chop the veggies. The teacher was informative. I think this class was really great for people who maybe don't have a lot of experience cooking. Or good for someone who cooks a lot but maybe wants to try and master a recipe. I've made pasta before but it didn't come out near as good as when I made it here. It gave me the opportunity to try out a pasta rolling machine with out having to buy one. Definitely worth buying one by the way if you're wondering. With our pasta we made a flavorful Bolognese sauce and a side salad. The teacher packaged up all of our stuff for us once we were done and sadly my vinaigrette didn't make it into the bag and I didn't notice until I was getting ready to set the table. I luckily had most of the ingredients at home or some variation of the sort so I whipped up a new batch but was not as good as the original. So highly suggest you check your bag to make sure it's all there. Also, you do get a 10% discount that you can use the day of class in store. Aprons were provided. I suggest wearing comfy shoes since you'll be standing for approx 2 hours give or take some time.

A "date" can be almost anything. So, don't feel like you have to have a special date, but it is a great way to spend the evening together, learn something new and share in a meal. You can bring your own bottle of wine along, if you wish. The cooking class lasted two and a half hours. The chef leading the event was quite knowledgeable, kept us on time, checked-in with each team regularly answering questions and sharing suggestions, while sharing personal stories to make the event interesting. It was fun! Met some new folks and swapped travel stories. Class size tonight was 13 people. Learned about some of the different kitchen tools as well as techniques. (I can poach an egg now!) They provide copies of the recipes so you can make the meal again later. The staff here at Sur La Table were wonderful. Made us feel right at home! You do get a 10% off discount for purchasing any merchandise in the store after the class. Plus, they will give you a $10 discount for each individual, if you sign up for another class that day. I signed up for another class as there are so many more fun classes to choose from. It's a great way to get out of the house and spend time with friends, family or a special some one.
