This bar is near and dear to my heart. They have an amazing menu that includes a full vegan menu, they have a great beer selection, the staff is always ridiculously friendly, the prices are reasonable, there's a beautiful patio, and karaoke 3 days a week! What else could anyone want? My boyfriend and I frequently come in for karaoke. They do karaoke Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. The karaoke DJs are really great and if you're new, they always go out of their way to get you in the line up fast. So don't hesitate to sign up if you see a big list! For all you know, it's the same regulars that have filled the whole list but the DJ would love to get a fresh face on the stage and you will most surely get bumped up the list. One of the benefits of having a real karaoke DJ and not using one of the online services. They're doing more and more poker tournaments. I want to say that it's Sunday but honestly, I would call and ask about it if you're interested because it seems like they add a new poker tournament every week. Wednesday night, they do $1 wings. You can split the wings among different flavors. It's a great night to come for a cheap meal. Also the draft steins are super cheap. I can't remember the actual price but they're less than $10, I want to say they're $7 or something. If you're looking for high point beer, I wouldn't go off the menu. I would ask the bartender what they have in stock. It frequently changes and its hard to keep the paper menu updated. I have literally never had a bad meal here. So it's a great value if you're in the area and just looking for some affordable bar food. They also have a really great brunch which I feel like is super underrated. I usually do their avocado toast and a beer. My only complaint? The pool table. Yes they have a pool table but it was such an after thought, you can barely make a shot because there's so many things in the way and the floor is uneven. I'm not a pool shark or anything so it's fine to me but I could see how a regular pool player might get annoyed. Honestly I feel like it's more entertaining to play on this comically arranged pool table. I've played pool in way smaller rooms with fewer impediments, lol. I thought long and hard about whether this place should be classified as a dive bar, and honestly, the quality of the menu makes me think it's not. I have never been to a dive bar with a vegan menu. I could see how walking in you might get that impression but they don't tolerate too much rowdiness. In fact, my loud friend who tends to yell when he drinks because he's been to too many metal shows and is hard of hearing couldn't get in. The bouncer said he was too drunk. They have a school pretty close by so the bouncers are pretty discerning. I don't think that people actually come here for the food. The patio was hopping, so I am pretty sure it is for the ambiance. They had lots of "bar" games like pool, darts, etc. And later the same night there was karaoke. What I did like is that they didn't have a problem splitting up the check for our table. They took our credit cards up front so they could keep a tab for each of us. However, the person who took our information and the person who took are order were not the same people. That in itself wasn't a problem, but when we went to order our actual food they could only find the information for one person in our party despite taking the credit card info for 3 of us. I am not really sure what the others in my group ordered, but I do know that I did NOT like what I ordered. First, it said on their Facebook page that the Wagyu burger was on special for the night, but they did not honor that. So, I decided on the rosemary garlic burger instead with a sub of onion rings instead of fries. Now... the burger looks delicious in the photo and it was juicy and the veggies nice and fresh. However, it did not taste good. It was an overwhelming flavor of rosemary and raw garlic and I did not enjoy it at all. Plus, my onion rings were burnt. Even my kiddo at home who eats most everything did not like this burger. My daughter ordered the Alamo brownie for dessert and it was supposed to come with caramel, chocolate sauce, and ice cream, but hers only came with chocolate sauce. The server may have been new and she said it came with a choice of one of those things and not all three. $10 for a brownie with chocolate sauce was robbery! The long and short of it, collectively we did not enjoy the food here and do not plan to come back again. From the outside, I thought this was a diner; the sign really screams "Americana diner" to me....but I was wrong. This is a bar, and a pretty divey one, at that. This is a place you come with friends after work to play a game of pool or throw some darts while you have a beer. It's dark with loud music playing overhead and although smoking isn't allowed inside, the air is musky. This would be a fun place to get a little rowdy and celebrate something with your friends. It's not high brow, but very accessible to the regular person. While it might not appeal to everyone, there's a place for a bar like this and there are plenty of regulars that love it. We all live 20-30 minutes south of SLC and had been playing APA pool league every Wednesday. It's after work Thursday and we came here to play pool. As soon as I parked and saw the front, with the fire pits all lined up looking cool, I had high hopes for this place. As I entered, there was a big 6'8" guy greeting and checking IDs. Everything is right there. From left to right, 10 electric dart games... packed! Tables and 4 tops, bar... packed... 4 pool tables... one empty table for our crew. Not the best tables... A server named Chase was on it! Took drink orders for us 4 and delivered with food menus. I ordered pizza. They only have 16 inch pizza.I was going to order the halibut fish and chips but learned the fish is frozen. The pizza took a bit of time but they were more concerned about it than I was. I had a stein of Pacifico draft and playing pool with my friends, all was good. When it did arrive, it wasn't good and the top was burned; " why'd you give them a 4!?!?!" Because when I left, at midnight, the placed was still packed and the karaoke was non-stop love flowing. All levels of ability had the same level of passion and the crowd gave love to all the singers. The place was "live"! I talked to all kinds of strangers and found a couple new friends. 75¢ wings on Wednesdays? Say Less. The habanero mango flavor was amazing. They're also HUGE wings. 10/10. The only thing I didn't love was my Bloody Mary. I love bloody Mary's and have been searching for a good one. The blonde bartender (don't remember her name) was great. Wow!!! This bar was such a nice surprise!!! All the staff was sooo friendly and fun to talk to! They have fire pits outside that are pretty big! Inside had a ton of dart boards! I had the chicken tenders. You can tell a lot abt a place by their tenders. They were MASSIVE!!! And soooooo yummy!!!!!! The fries are the nice skin-on ones! Can't wait to go back and try more food!! This is my first visit to the Midway. The place feels like most bars I have been in. Once they turned the lighting up it was much easier to see the decor. Pool tables and lots of dart boards, it was clean and comfortable with your choice of high tables, low tables, and bar seating. The service was incredibly slow, and the staff apologized for the delay. The customer at the table next to mine just walked out due to the wait. How would they ever handle a capacity crowd? What really struck me as odd was the demand that I surrender my card before I ordered or anything was served to me if I was not paying cash. They asked if I wanted the tab to stay open and I said no. I was just there for a burger and some water. I waited a very long time but the card was never returned to me. All I could think of was they were in the back shopping at my expense. I finally had to ask where it was. Again, they disappeared into the back and after a while it was finally returned. This really spoiled the experience for me. I have not even been served yet, and already I know I will not be back. After an hour of waiting I was served what was supposed to be the Steak Burger with bacon added. There was no bacon, no sauce of any kind. Just a dry bun with a cold burger patty. I didn't even have a napkin or silverware. When I asked about the missing bacon the staff member looked at the ticket and said it was not supposed to have it. She offered to go try to find some, but at that point I picked up my stuff and left. This was one of the longest waits for such pitiful food I have ever experienced. Go at your own risk. It didn't feel like the staff was all that attentive to us, and it wasn't particularly packed that day. It took quite awhile to even be greeted and for our orders to be taken. To think this place was already on Bar Rescue! Came here on halloween night expecting to have a good time, I ended up waiting up waiting about 40 minutes to get my order taken as i was getting cut in front of and had people get their orders and drinks before me. Even tho i was waiting longer. After i finally got my drinks and finished them i went to go order more. As i was waiting on the corner of the counter i was asked to move by a bartender, being i was in the way of the entrance for behind the counter. I moved over thinking i was out of the way this time. I was still by the corner but not in the way of the entrance. The bar tender then yelled at me saying i need to move. As i was getting out the way one of the other bar tenders over heard her yelling at me to move. He than look over at me as I'm moving and yelled at me looking upset telling me to get out of they way in a very disrespectful manner. Mind you I've been there a couple times before and never had a problem at that exact same spot. I can understand it was busy on halloween night,There is a way to treat your customers even if it's hectic. I ended up leaving and went downtown where it's 20x more busy yet i didn't get treated poorly. Never going back to The Midway again the bartenders don't seem to care about how they treat their customers. Wish i can give a zero star for poor customer service. read more

Soooo. This this the first time I have ever been kicked out of a place. The first time I ever been to The Midway!!! The bartender below told security that I am not welcome. The reason is because there was some patrons that were waiting at the bar next to me for about 20 MINUTES for a drink. So finally the bartender took their order and I said "you have been waiting so long, please put the drinks on my tab" the bartender stated "let me worry about the service and you worry about yourself". Then next thing I know security is telling me I need to leave because the "bartender" wants me to leave. I was not sure what I did wrong to get kicked out but. . . I was kicked out! Now I am not one to start trouble or be an issue for anyone but I felt as if I was discriminated against and the reasoning was SO UNJUSTIFIED and was based off of pure emotion and not BUSINESS LOGIC!!! I am a good tipper and a great patron, but for the Midway. . .I do not recommend! Seems like the response I received by Kristy M was a generic response and no attempts to understand the customer! It really is too bad that there is no accountability to service at this establishment. Especially when they went through a BAR RESCUE!!! This is not the first time I have come to the Midway this year and had to wait about 20-30 minutes for a drink. I will not be returning to Midway and I do not recommend this place! We went there for the first time today. The service was soooo slow. It was an hour and 10 minutes before we even got our drinks. It was 45 minutes before anyone came to the table. The food wasn't anything special either. It was 2 hrs by the time we got out of there and all we did was eat some wings and have 1 drink. Would not recommend at all. read more

I'm not sure what to make of this bar. It was formerly "union" and now the name change to "Midway." If you're thinking games, circus and cotton candy, you're correct! Apparently, Bar Rescue came here and remodeled the bar into a carnival themed one. I don't get it and I think they seriously dropped the ball on this one. The menu is also carnival themed and it doesn't fit the location or environment or the regulars that come in. The wings are really good here! But they added their regular menu on top of their carnival one. Fried pickles are a joke. They're thin slivers of pickle (cut long ways) and deep fried. They look more like cheese curds and you're eating more batter than pickle. read more

First time visiting to the Midway Bar. I understand this was a "Jon Taffer - Bar Rescue", and it looks like they are still moving forward. I just wanted to put my two cents in here to point out what I noticed,,,,good and bad. Good first: The place was clean and had a good crowd for a Thursday night. Not packed, but still plenty of patrons to keep a place profitable. My wife and I both order food and she ordered a Mule drink as well. The service from the kitchen was fast and courteous. Pricing was fair and about what I had expected to pay. Our waitress was pretty friendly, however she wasn't very attentive, even though it wasn't a packed house. I did notice 3 waitress's and at least 3 others behind the bar. I am not sure who was doing what job. As far as staff goes, I give it a thumbs up, but with room for improvement. The crowd was fun, friendly and upbeat...I liked that a lot. Now the bad: While my wife enjoyed the nachos, my burger was quite salty, it made it hard to enjoy. But I was hungry and ate it anyway. And I ordered waffle fries, but received regular fries. It's a good thing I enjoy plain fries. However, these were pretty basic and boring. I know mistakes are made, and I forgive you. The reason we visited the Midway was because of the fact it had karaoke. And it was touted as "voted #1", was even told that by our waitress. I say "hog wash". Doing karaoke outside is a pretty fun idea, "IF" it is executed and done well...this was not. Now, the host was fun and fair and has a upbeat personality (bonus for this), his system was not "state of the art" as we had seen on your website. His system is what we would call a "minimalist system". Meaning, it's only adequate, doing the very least that can be done and still call it "karaoke". I'm truly not impressed at all with that experience. When I say that, I KNOW what I am talking about.... since I have been hosting for almost 20 years with my own system. We just like to see other places and see what is "new", or how we are doing comparatively. I feel it very misleading when a place touts they have a "state of the art" sound system and voted as number one karaoke....when who really is "voting" on this??? Maybe it's better when it's ran indoors,,, I do not know. I might return to check it out again when karaoke goes back inside. read more

Really good food ! Fast friendly service . Came in on a Tuesday night and they were playing Bingo. If you go don't clear your card unless told to do so ! I missed the memo on that. Wednesday wing night is a hit. They have excellent sauces for your wings, I tried the traditional Buffalo style in mild and it was great. The wife enjoyed sweet chili sauce on her wings. Drinks are reasonable. Nice outdoor seating, shaded in the evening. We'll be back for sure! read more
