There is a good selection of non-coffee drinks, including local kombucha. Pastries and quiche are made fresh and local. The presentation is artistic. Be sure to order your drink to stay in the cafe and you'll be served on wooden platters with porcelain cafe ware. Bud vases feature a fresh blossom for each table. There are comfortable upholstered chairs and lounges near the soaring two story windows. On top of all this, the staff is pleasant and laid back. Unfortunately, they're also often stuck having to explain to customers why food isn't available, and that seems to be a management/ownership issue rather than a staff issue. For a local business that has been around for a while, product availability should be much more dialed in. Weekend demand, back-to-school changes, seasonal patterns, and other fluctuations are things that can be tracked and planned for using basic sales data. I've had to relocate business coffee meetings on four separate occasions because they were short on food, again. That's especially unfortunate to them as a business, because I typically spend $30-$35 when I'm there with a client, 8-12 times/month, which I gladly redirecting elsewhere (~$4k loss in annual business for Lander), not to mention the clients I brought often ended up revisiting, as most of them were new to the location. At this point, I've essentially given up on using this place for meetings. Most unfortunate, go me, is that I genuinely like the staff and the service. In this day and age, with the technology and data available to understand purchasing patterns and customer demand, consistently having enough food on hand should be a solvable problem. Isolated events happen, but the frequency shows a lack of tracking business metrics by ownership.

For drinks, we got a couple of sodas at Canteen, a Willie Maize Hazy IPA on tap at the 7 Seas bar, and I tried a refreshing Lavender Patch (16 oz iced sparkling espresso with lavender syrup and yuzu lemonade) at Naomi Joe Coffee. They have some pinball machines, free water at the back, and a party room you can rent. As with most breweries, it is family-friendly. I love the laid-back and friendly atmosphere of this place. They sell cool merch and have a neat display in honor of the historic Heidelberg Brewing Company of Tacoma that dates back to 1912.

Now let's talk about my drink - Cookie Butter Hojicha Latte (hot)! I'm a huge fan of hojicha, but I don't get it often as it's not as common as matcha. When I ordered, I was actually thinking about a cold drink, but I'm so glad I didn't mention cold or hot, because the hot version is the best hot drink I've had this year - creamy, subtly sweet, the nuttienss of cookie butter just works perfectly with the hojicha. The store also carries baked goods from 2 local bakeries (one is Lobo Bakery) in Tacoma, and all the baked goods are reasonably priced.
