The timeline was tight and the crew was amazing about finishing within that time, including some extra issues that popped up. Our second job with them was almost a complete gutting of our home that had to be done in phases...Todd didn't even blink when he said he could manage it. Jylene helped us decide how to move walls, and Todd somehow figured out how to make the changes visually interesting, while keeping the integrity of our vision. Every sub that STS is associated with has been phenomenal in being available, flexible, and reasonably priced. We will certainly use STS again in the future!

Jylene (design) and Todd (construction) were awesome people and their entire team was professional, experienced, and kind. The subs they used were top notch (particularly the electricians and floor levelers). We had some communication issues at the beginning (admittedly partially caused by us) that were resolved by a common sense approach solution provided by Jylene. They weren't the cheapest (or most expensive) bid we got but they absolutely delivered! The end result was gorgeous and luxurious. Thank you guys for such an awesome experience!

When we started, we only knew what we didn't like about our current kitchen. Like any major…read moreproject, we started by reaching out to a couple of vendors to get quotes, that's where we met Alon, the project manager for Lumina Builders. What immediately stood out to us was that he had ideas and solutions to address our pain points and make enhancements, we wouldn't have ever considered, and didn't just wait for us to tell him how we wanted things. He created a vision for us in that first quote visit. The other contractor we spoke to didn't provide any ideas just asked us how we wanted it. It was a very easy decision to go with Alon and Lumina Builders. Our project was estimated to take 2-3 months and ultimately took two and a half months to complete. We designed a brand new kitchen, addressing all of our concerns and adding a few recommendations from Alon to streamline some areas. They ripped everything out aside from the flooring and walls. We got brand new custom cabinets, custom lighting, and new countertops. Our fridge was moved to a new, more accessible area. Our sink was shifted down to align with the stove for continuity sake (never realized how much I hated it being in a corner previously). We had a new little cabinet built in our little breakfast nook area and we had an appliance garage built to house everything that took up counter space. Everything is so much brighter and more open and, even though we know the demensions are roughly the same, it feels so much wider. We are ecstatic with how everything came out. Alon is a genius. He was responsive to us throughout the project, checking in weekly to see how things were going, giving us peace of mind throughout this process, as first time remodelers. We were indecisive about the primary cabinet color (I was very worried we'd be stuck with something we didn't really like) but he worked with the cabinet makes to give us several samples to choose from. He was very patient with us. We LOVE how everything turned out! We'll definitely be using Lumina Builders for all of our future projects.

However, during scheduling, he left me on read for 3 days. In the interim, I found someone else who quoted me the same amount, so I hired them to come take a look sooner. They came to take a closer look, and found that it was an issue with the grout, and not the caulking. They revised their quote to around $600. Preston finally responded to me. I reached out to him and let him know that the photos that I sent might not have accurately conveyed the severity of my problem. I told him that I was happy to have him come take a look and pay him the $280 that he quoted, but that I did not want him to run into the same issue as the other handyman, and end up quoting me more money or needing to reschedule the job because he was unable to fix the actual grout. That's when Preston became extremely rude and unprofessional. He again had left me on read for nearly 2 days, after I brought up this concern. When I reached out to him to follow up, he told me that I would have a $99 cancellation fee if I canceled within 48 hours. I not only had contacted him four days before the scheduled work date, but I reached out to follow up with him 48 hours before the scheduled the cancellation date. Preston was unfortunately a poor communicator, and extremely unprofessional in this case. I do not know the actual quality of his work, but based on his communication with me, I would not recommend working with him. Preston - if you would like to apologize for your actions, I would be happy to take this review down.

That level of organization immediately gave me confidence. During my consultation, Bar exceeded my expectations. He was thorough, knowledgeable, and clearly has extensive experience in remodeling. I especially appreciated his straightforward, honest approach. Rather than simply agreeing with every idea I had, he took the time to explain the pros and cons of different renovation options and offered thoughtful recommendations based on both function and long-term value. What really stood out was that he identified several important considerations that none of the other contractors I met with had even mentioned. His expertise was evident throughout the entire appointment, and I left feeling much more informed about my project. If budget weren't a factor, I would have hired D&L Builders on the spot. Unfortunately, I have several home projects underway and need to stay within my overall budget. Even so, I highly recommend meeting with Bar if you're looking for an experienced contractor who values honesty, quality, and educating his clients rather than simply trying to make a sale.

Powerhouse wasn't the first company we called, nor were they the cheapest -- but we got an immediate sense from the owner Jack when he did the initial walkthrough and bid that we would be in good hands if we went with them to replace both the driveway and garage flooring. I think it is the up-front and transparent manner in which Jack approaches his business. He let us know up front all potential pitfalls, gave us a wealth of information about types of concrete, and even told us up-front that our original choice of Pavers had the potential to cost us more in the long run. Well-informed, we decided to go with stamped concrete with rebar, and within a week the jackhammers were knocking all the old stuff out. His workers were friendly, efficient and finished in a week.
