A very very high-end boutique in the Armand Circle area of Sarasota. As expected some very nice items but only one pleasant staff member in the entire place. They do have a sales rack in the back side of the store. From a mobility issue I did not find an easy way to get up inside. Wow is this store beautiful and smells so good! Because there is a spa upstairs the entire store smells like a spa. So soothing to smell as you walk around browsing. Now be prepared because the clothing is expensive but they do have some beautiful things. Fell in love with some shoes while I was there. Staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and was very welcoming and friendly. This was the first time stopping in here and it was quite enjoyable even though I didn't purchase anything. read more

The Met - Birthday celebration!! - Women's Clothing Near Me - Sarasota, Florida

On Friday, I started communicating with my hair dresser, Linda via text messaging. She assured me (I kept the messages) that she could see me today to do a root touch up and trim. I tried to send her a message again last night and she did not answer me although she read the message. This morning when I tried to call the salon there was no answer because I called before they were open. I left a voicemail. Somebody called me back at 11:28am. I tried to tell the lady who called me back that I was in communication with Linda however Linda informed me after I left a voicemail and before she called me back that she was completely booked. I wanted to tell the woman that I would be open to somebody else doing my hair if need be because I have something important to do tomorrow and I was really counting on having my hair done. Before I could tell her, the woman told me she was in a big hurry because she was trying to hurry up and open the salon and before I could get anything out of my mouth she was letting me go! Why would somebody call me back if they did not have time to talk to me to see how they could help? That was incredibly rude. This it's such a shame because Linda did a great job on my hair the times I did see her, but considering the combined experience of saying I had an appointment and then not putting me on the books and then the rude front desk person who called me, I am going to have to look for another salon. I drive quite a ways to get to the spa anyways, it's not worth the hassle. As a side note.. I had also tried to call the main number on Friday 1/21/22 at 5:05pm and sat on hold before I finally decided to start messaging Linda at 6:52pm. She ensured me we would work it out. I do love Linda and told her I would make anytime work on Sunday (today). I'm really bummed as my occupation requires me to be in front of a close up camera and I would of liked my hair to be top notch for tomorrow. I do not recommend The Met any longer. The hairdresser is kind but really let me down. The lady at the front desk was NOT kind, in fact she rushed through the conversation and basically hung up on me. If it weren't for that I would of went back to see Linda but because of all the stress over the last 3 days to not even have an appointment - it's just not worth it. I've spent hundreds of dollars here, my hair is very long and thick. I've also bought hair products and makeup here and have sent friends here. No more of that. Very disappointing! read more

Worst service of any salon in the area! I scheduled services for 3 people, two massages and one facial. The two people with me were brought back right away while I waited. I didn't have my phone so I didn't realize how long I was left waiting. After 50 minutes someone stopped by and asked if I had a service scheduled. There was a "mix up" on timing and I sat there without getting assistance. They offered me a free glass of wine as if that was supposed to make up for being ignored for an hour! Before leaving they promised to put a note on my account for a free massage on my next visit. Of course, when I called to try to use this credit I was told there was no such note. I was told they could "try to fit me in and maybe give me a discount". If you have endless time to sit around and not get service, give them a shot but there are plenty of other places with better customer service. read more

I went with my friend for a makeup lessons, she was very happy with Nina she did very nice natural looking makeup for my friend event that night, she use they're organic line on her and my friend purchase few things she use on her. My lady was showing me what she was using and steps with Trish Mcevoy makeup line. It was little heavy on eyes for me, but I love the eyebrows and tinted moisturizer she use and a pink crayon. She was little pushy to sell and on top off it she keeps calling me my friend mom ( I'm only 9 years older) that I didn't like at all. I don't think I'm going back there any time soon, but will buy the pink crayon and eyebrow pencil somewhere else. read more

For my birthday, my friends treated me to a wonderful spa service that had the vishiji shower (not sure I'm spelling that right.) It was truly lovely and I loved the shower experience. When I came out they said I smelled amazing. My technician was wonderful too. read more

We had an emergency purchase, and almost completely over the phone, Dathan was so helpful, and helped us with linen slacks, a great shirt for my partner who was officiating a beach wedding same day. Dodging around spa appointments, dog grooming, getting the groom there on time, all same-day wedding stuff, Dathan put it all together, with great help and complete professionalism. Got the 80 min. Deep tissue by Meghan T. Offered me water, tea, coffee, champagne or mimosas before and after my massage. Nice quiet, upscale atmosphere. Meghan did a great job and I found myself falling asleep several times during the massage. They give you a robe and locker and you can shower afterwards to rinse off the oils. Came for the spa. Loved every minute of it. I want to call it, The Berns of Spas! When you go to Berns, it's all about the experience and the service, and that's how I felt today. From the minute I walked in, I was treated like royalty. Erica was at the front desk and couldn't have been any sweeter and welcoming. The concierge was so personable and funny. Brittney did my massage and was amazing. It is incredibly clean and they truly cater to you without being uptight or pretentious. This establishment is very beautiful and have top customer service. However, their services and personnel capabilities are horrific. I went to receive a Brazilian wax and expected it to take between 15-20 minutes; mind you this service costed $80, far more than a typical service like this costs. The woman who did the wax was kind and professional although she was unable to properly to it. I instructed her what to do and I left after a 40 minute wax in serious pain and discomfort. I would not recommend you get waxed here. It is far too pricy to be in sever pain. read more

I am commenting only on the fashion house portion of the Met, as I have yet to recieve any spa treatments. So I'm willing to go out on a limb here and say that it's easily the best boutique shopping in Sarasota. Of course Saks has more choices, but the Met's help are warm without being pushy and their collection is just as current. Their brands range from Lacoste and Ralph Lauren to Versace and Burberry and their jewelry starts at prices as low 65$ and of course....goes up a lot higher! They sell men's, women's, & children's clothing, accessories, & shoes. I had to stop myself from spending my life savings after just popping in on a whim one afternoon. I have lived in Sarasota for 5 years and have gone to many of the spas in town and thought I would give The Met a try. I was scheduled for 3 treatments in a row and arrived as the first appointment of the day, so scheduling was good. I went to relax and was REALLY looking forward being able to do so. I have a very hectic schedule and I don't fool around when it comes to my spa down time. Disappointingly, the relaxation did not go as planned. For one, the MUSIC IS TERRIBLE! For the love of all things holy can someone please change it!? I actually started laughing during my massage because there was a baby giggling in one of the songs. Like.....really? I don't have kids for a reason and if I was a mother, I am sure I would be at the spa to get away from the kids for a few hours. The rest of the background music was a mix between what you might hear during a scfi and/or horror movie. The music just pulled me out of my relax zone, for which I had trouble even getting myself into. Try a different satellite channel. Really...anything else would have probably been better. Second, I received a facial and was not told at the time of the appointment that my facial included a very loud machine, which supposedly pulled toxins from my skin. That is fantastic if you are partial to facial hickies, however I am not. The slurping sounds of my facial gel being inhaled by a vibrating machine did nothing for me, but my esthetician was VERY nice did her best to sooth my disappointment. She even offered to switch facials, but I declined because she was already set up for mine and I thought it would have been rude of me to switch when I knew she had appointments behind me. Just make sure you ask if there is a machine involved in your treatment before scheduling as they do not tell you up front. The results? I've had better facials where my skin looked a heck of a lot more alive at other establishments and they did not use a machine. Third, It is loud (for a spa) and there is not much privacy. After my massage, I was in a coma and had to walk like a zombie through the waiting area and nail salon to use the restroom before my next treatment. BUZZKILL. Granted, it was Saturday and they were busy, but the layout stinks. I don't want to have walk through a lounge full of ladies staring at my oil head and yapping, while I drink my cucumber water (which is very good by the way) when I would rather just be led to a quite area and sink into a oversized chair. All in all, The Met is a nice place, but I don't feel they are the best in Sarasota. If you are seeking any kind of privacy or individualized attention go elsewhere. I felt similar to cattle....just pushed along, fed, and exited out the other end of the barn. For the money I spent, I expected more grace. Now, if you are just seeking a pedicure (which I have had here), its great because your just getting your nails done and can handle the socialization. My hair stylist is Erika and she is by far one of the best and most professional I have ever been too. I highly recommend the salon. No happy ending here.... read more

Therapists here are mostly very good. Except for the one who gave me second degree burns because she couldn't control the temperature of the hot stones. The receptionist is snooty and unfriendly. Don't bother trying to use the online appointment system. It's fake It may look like it took your information but they will not bother to call you, they just wait till you show up and then say sorry we don't have your appointment. The whole staff was professional, friendly and very good at their tasks. Everyone I encountered was helpful and courteous. Facilities are top notch. Not the experience I expected. Had a manicure and pedicure. Was not the best I have ever had. My gal was nice enough, but my friend was sniped at when she spoke up to say the toes and nails were not matching. Ruined scheduling for entire day. I could not relax, felt rushed by staff. Management evasive and uncommunicative. Services scheduled they were unable to do because of lack of qualified therapist available. Greatly dissapointed. Wasted day. Management unable to properly handle scheduling or to resolve the situation which occured. This resulted in a day which was a complete disaster. However, they are one of the few places I could find in Sarasota that carry Oribe hair products and I'd forgotten mine at home while visiting the area last year. Services and staff are excellent. Unfortunately, the Spa has a very difficult time keeping on schedule. The wait time (beyond my scheduled appointment) was minimum 25 minutes and as long as 40 minutes. For a Spa that is as high -end as the Met, that is unacceptable. The location of this place can't be beat. We go on a Saturday morning and walk around St. Armands after. I have always had great service. It is a little pricy but it is a class A spa all the way. The facials are great and sooo relaxing. I highly recommend this place. Great for couples. read more
