Fabulous! I'm beyond happy this location is back. The experience was incredible, our server was fabulous, the food was amazing, and the dessert was to die for. I loved the romantic atmosphere. Absolutely worth it and perfect for date night!

Hmmmmmmm (things that make you go hmmmmmm) I have never been here before and I had no idea what I was in store for but one word to sum it up is interesting. I thought everything was really good however, I felt like the process was just way too long. It was like over two hours for an appetizer entrée dessert. The food was really good though I must admit, but once we were done eating, we were still hungry because there were so much time in between every plate. However, the service was fantastic and the restaurant itself was very clean which I really liked. I'm not sure if I would try the place again but it was definitely an experience for our appetizer. We had spinach, artichoke dip and cheddar cheese with Sam Adams beer that came with a bunch of small pieces of bread and fruit, fruits and vegetables. We then all had a salad and then our entrée was a citrus pot with chicken, filet mignon and shrimp and then for dessert, which was the best part, we had s'mores and Ying Yang that came with brownies, rice crispy treats, and poundcake oh my - that my friend did NOT disappoint.

Visited for the first time after their hard opening, and there were some improvements and some disappointments. The staff was very professional and helpful, able to answer questions and give recommendations. They talked through the process of preparing each pot and fondue, which was interesting and fun. I did the 4 course meal this time, but would not do so again. For the cheese course I got the Wisconsin cheddar. It was very tasty and of a good consistency, with accompaniments such as cauliflower and pretzel bread. Unfortunately they were out of apples on this occasion. For the salad course I got the strawberry feta salad. It was very tasty, but quite overdressed. If I got it again I would ask for the dressing on the side. My biggest issue was with the entree course. In this course you select meats to cook yourself in a boiling broth. There is a handy web page that allows you to time how long you leave things in the broth to cook them properly. Unfortunately, this was wildly inaccurate in my experience. I didn't order poultry because I was anxious about undercooking, and this proved my anxiety was not misplaced. The meat options I chose were pork and steak, and I was advised to cook them for 2.5 minutes. When I followed the instructions the meats were entirely raw in the center. I worked around this by cutting most meats into smaller pieces and cooking them for the recommend time, which didn't seem to present any issues. I also wish there were more accompaniments for this portion, like potentially noodles. I had no complaints about the mushroom ravioli, which was cooked through and very tasty. For the dessert course I got the s'mores chocolate, which was very tasty and well prepared. I will definitely be going here again, but am unlikely to trust the entree course.

My partner and I decided to dine at the Melting Pot on a slow Thursday night. Service: Chris, a younger person with a friendly face, was our server. We couldn't have asked for better service and it really made our dining experience worth while. That's coming from a prior restaurant manager who is very particular about service. He was attentive, friendly, relaxed and informative. It felt like we had been dining with him for years. He also paid special attention to the fact that I am pregnant, what I could and could not eat, my likes and dislikes. The Hostess was very friendly as well. Actually, I'm not sure if she was the hostess or manager. Ambiance: you wouldn't think that restaurants in the mall could create a soothing, relaxed or romantic environment but the booths inside the Melting Pot will prove you wrong. It seems kid friendly for the patio area. Beverage: No beer on tap but they have a pretty good bottle selection. My partner ordered Ommegang (sp?) Amber Ale and loved it. I didn't drink so I skipped reviewing the wine and cocktail menu. I ordered earl grey tea to sip on and it was very good. Food - we each ordered the four course which seems to be their most popular. Cheese Fondue (1st course): We started with the shared spinach and artichoke fondue. My partner liked it, but it was a little too rich and garlicky for me. Salad (2nd course): He ordered the California salad and thought it was "awesome." I ordered the house with the sweet and tangy dressing. It was just ok, but I was having difficulty choosing something that wouldn't upset the food aversions I've developed due to the pregnancy. Main course: We both ordered the surf and turf accompanied by the classic vegetable broth. It came with a good portion of broccoli, mushrooms and potatoes on the side. There were five varieties of dipping sauces on the side as well most of which I really enjoyed. The lobster, filet and shrimp were of good quality and obviously my favorite part of the meal. The did offer a really good vegetarian option. Dessert: we ordered the turtle which was one of their specialities. It's chocolate, caramel and pecans melted together in the pot. For dipping, we received, rice crispy treats, marshmallows, blondie brownies, chocolate brownies, pound cake, bananas, strawberries and pineapple. This was a large portion and very good. We definitely were not able to finish it. My favorite was the pound cake and strawberries. $$$: I'd say the price was fair. In total we spent $134.00 which included the 20% tip we left our server. If we went again, I'd probably skip the cheese fondue and salad and just go straight for the entree and dessert. They do have individual portions so you don't have to spring for the four course meal. Overall, the service made our dining experience and the reason I gave five stars. Thanks Chris.

It's a fun place to go, especially with a group of friends to hang out, have a quality conversation and enjoy a tasty 3-4 course meal. Staff are super nice and they'll explain everything to you. everything was fresh and tasty and they'll keep coming. We started with cheese fondue, then we had a salad, continued with beef, chicken and shrimp fondue, and for dessert, we had chocolate and banana foster fondue. it was lots of food and all of them delicious. They might be pricey but look at $$$ on their yelp page before going there. I've been there for a yelp event, but I'll definitely go back there with right group of people, cause you can have a fun night here.

Unfortunately my experience here was not very good. We arrived at 6pm and asked how long the wait would be and we where told 30 min. 1 hour later we where finally seated all the while there where at least 4 tables that sat empty and dirty for at least 30min. The service was very slow it took over 2 hours to get thru a meal.

We came in for dining week and it was our first time visiting 317. For anyone that doesn't know,…read morerestaurants participating in Downtown Syracuse Dining Week usually put together deals, specials, or limited menus for a set price. The variety on the 317 menu really stood out to us. The portions were sized down due to dining week, but everything was tasty! I will have to come back after dining week and try their normal offerings, but they're a bit on the pricey side so I was glad we got such a good deal tonight. Every individual glass of wine was $12, so we opted to split a $40 bottle between 4 people. The duck poutine and the pear goat cheese salad were favorites! The ambiance really stands out at 317! This historical building has so much charm, and the wood and brick made a warm, inviting setting. Some of the tables, and the bathrooms, are down a set of stairs. I think this is really unique and I liked how the restaurant used the flow of the old building, but definitely something to keep in mind if you are dining with anyone that has mobility issues. When we arrived, we waited at the entrance for a few minutes before anyone greeted us or checked us in. The entry way is a small space with tables surrounding it, so waiting was a little awkward. We only saw 2 servers working the dining areas, and the kitchen staff were delivering meals. Although it seemed like the staff was spread too thin tonight, our server, Mike, was so friendly and had a great attitude. We really enjoyed our time with him!

Decor-wise, it's luxe lounge, and is a welcome surprise in the Salt City. We use Resy, and...either the hostess misheard our party size, didn't really care, didn't really doublecheck to read our actual reservation, or whatever man, that's just your opinion. So, the backroom might have been a bit better suited for us olds, we were ushered into the front room. Not the window, but pretty darn close. Again, fun for people watching, inside and out. But damn it kids, if you have a DJ, I want to talk to Sir Vibes A Lot and ask them how they think thumping house music actually aids in digestion? Maybe I unconsciously started chewing to the unrelenting 4/4 beat, anything's possible. Now onto the menu, and back to the identity crisis. Like a lot of places, the York has a broad spectrum of offerings. Burger. Nashville Hot. Multiple pasta options. Sure, sure, sure. The porkchop with kimchi fried rice was the clear winner, hands down. The chicken, mashed and greens took second place (but I'll give ya a pro tip chef: the longer you cook your greens, the better they are). The salmon was a distant third because everything bagel seasoning is a lot after a while, and the veg was uninspired. Our TL:DR recommendation is come for cocktails and poutine. The poutine satisfied by itself. Our server was great- thanks, Destiny!

They have a wide range of meal and drink options, with most items sounding appetizing. My husband and I both got lavender drinks; him a lavender marg, and I a lavender lemonade. They were very syrupy, which made it hard to finish the drinks, even though they the flavor was great. We got garlic bread as an app, and it was much more greasy than one would expect. But it was still very tasty. Only down side was that the grease weighted down our stomachs, so it was hard to finish the entrees. Dinner was very good; I had the six cheeses mac n cheese, and Ryan got fish n chips. Both were a good portion for the price, which is always nice. Again, it wasn't a bad experience! I just wasn't blown away/ i didnt feel that I need to go back in the future.

We've eaten here a bunch - mostly due to proximity and lack of other options. The food is wildly…read moreinconsistent; sometimes, we're surprised at how good a dish is (usually a special or seasonal dish), but if we order it again, it's never the same. The biggest issues: - Many things seem to have a lot of oil involved. From the side vegetables to the burgers to the "garlic bread" served on the side of the pasta dishes - there's a strong, oily taste. It's not a pleasant oil - my guess is it's ostensibly neutral, like a vegetable or canola, though it leaves a flavor that suggests it's not entirely neutral. Perhaps a fake butter? Why it's so ubiquitous is anyone's guess, but it leaves an unpleasant film in your mouth. While I understand restaurants use a lot more oil/butter than home cooking (it's often why we like restaurant food better), this oil is not good. - The fries. I guess some people like them; I loved shoestring fries as a kid, but these aren't the same. They have no flavor (aside from the aforementioned oil), and they're the consistency of McDonald's fries, but drier and harder. Recently, we got an order that came with a new, more traditional style fry, and they were so good. We were excited that they finally ditched the cardboard variety but that apparently was a one-off - today showed that they seemed to revert to the old style, unfortunately. - They had an amazing chicken bacon ranch pizza for a while, until one day when it was gone. I think the secret was smoked Gouda, but whatever they used, it was a great pizza. When it disappeared from the menu, I inquired and was told, "oh yeah, lots of people are asking for that." So I said, "is it coming back, then?" I was told it's "doubtful," which kinda sums up my experiences there. Everyone loved it and wants it back? Better get rid of it, then. - The kids menu options are somewhat insulting to children. The "grilled cheese" uses what appear to be hamburger buns, so carelessly made that they seldom match up (that is, the top will be skewed off so the sandwich isn't put together). The kids pasta dishes are just plain noodles, usually undercooked, with no seasoning (i.e. salt) or other attention to preparation. The inconsistency is really the biggest issue for me. Things range from "fine" to "bad," but even if you stick with one menu item, you don't know what you're going to get. Non-chain, family-friendly restaurants are seemingly hard to find in this area, so I really wish they were better. We've kept at this place far longer than we probably should, again due to convenience, and because every now and then, a dish will be surprisingly good. However, those instances are becoming so rare, I think we're done for a good while. I do hope they improve.
