As for the staff, they were knowledgeable and nice..a little slow on service but they also have alot to do at each table so I get it. As for the food, it was delicious. We went all out and got the 4 course meal for 2 , the first course was the cheese fondue with fruit, veggies and breads. We chose the white cheese with white wine base (which most of them had an alcoholic base) the amount of wine that was poured was overpowering..we had a bit of it but just couldn't finish due to the strong wine. The 2nd course was a salad. I had Caesar, hubby had the wedge and both were good. I liked the sweet pine nuts that was added. Course 3 was the entree with all the meats.nwe chose the fusion option which had pork, steak, chicken, potstickers, and shrimp. With the mushroom based broth and it was fantastic. It's alot of food and cooking it was fun. Finally we got to dessert and that was the best part. We got the ying/yang white and dark chocolate with the strawberries, bananas, cheese cake, cookies, marshmallows etc.. so good! I visited the melting pot for a party. There was a larger group of us of around 15 people. We had a back room separate from the rest of the restaurant which was fun and added a nice setting for the group. I went in and immediately noticed the website prices are wrong and are more expensive than the menu on thier website by a considerable amount. My partner and I got the hot honey cheese pot with additional sausage. The servers come and mix the pot at your table, i thought it was odd they didnt put all of the cheese & ingriedients into your pot. Instead they used an amount and then put the rest back on the tray, stacked so there was a ton of food waste. It was odd to me. Whilst tasty, there was not an ounce of spice to the dish for being "hot" honey. The amount of cheese and toppings they gave for it was super minimal for $30. Almost all of the tables used all of the cheese but still had random things to dip left over. We ate the raw broccoli and vegetables without cheese. The sausage was a worthwhile upgrade. My partner and I only got this one appetizer, a cocktail, and 2 cokes and the total with tip was $78. We actually went home and made more food. We were there for almost two hours, and left just as the rest of the party recieved thier entrée soups (not ingredients.) So they still had 2 courses left. Hmmmmmmm (things that make you go hmmmmmm) I have never been here before and I had no idea what I was in store for but one word to sum it up is interesting. I thought everything was really good however, I felt like the process was just way too long. It was like over two hours for an appetizer entrée dessert. The food was really good though I must admit, but once we were done eating, we were still hungry because there were so much time in between every plate. However, the service was fantastic and the restaurant itself was very clean which I really liked. I'm not sure if I would try the place again but it was definitely an experience for our appetizer. We had spinach, artichoke dip and cheddar cheese with Sam Adams beer that came with a bunch of small pieces of bread and fruit, fruits and vegetables. Visited for the first time after their hard opening, and there were some improvements and some disappointments. The staff was very professional and helpful, able to answer questions and give recommendations. They talked through the process of preparing each pot and fondue, which was interesting and fun. I did the 4 course meal this time, but would not do so again. For the cheese course I got the Wisconsin cheddar. It was very tasty and of a good consistency, with accompaniments such as cauliflower and pretzel bread. Unfortunately they were out of apples on this occasion. For the salad course I got the strawberry feta salad. It was very tasty, but quite overdressed. If I got it again I would ask for the dressing on the side. My biggest issue was with the entree course. In this course you select meats to cook yourself in a boiling broth. There is a handy web page that allows you to time how long you leave things in the broth to cook them properly. Unfortunately, this was wildly inaccurate in my experience. I didn't order poultry because I was anxious about undercooking, and this proved my anxiety was not misplaced. The meat options I chose were pork and steak, and I was advised to cook them for 2.5 minutes. When I followed the instructions the meats were entirely raw in the center. I worked around this by cutting most meats into smaller pieces and cooking them for the recommend time, which didn't seem to present any issues. I also wish there were more accompaniments for this portion, like potentially noodles. I had no complaints about the mushroom ravioli, which was cooked through and very tasty. For the dessert course I got the s'mores chocolate, which was very tasty and well prepared. I will definitely be going here again, but am unlikely to trust the entree course. read more

My wife and I decided that coming her would be great for our date night. We were not disappointed in the least! From the food to the service, everything was on point! We decided to do the $45 dollar a person deal. Basically you get an appetizer fondue, a salad, unlimited meats for entrée, and a desert fondue. It was amazing! I loved that we could do a reservation and didn't have to wait. We had a delicious cheese dip that we ate tons of the bread dip for. We then had some yummy salads with their house dressing. After that we had the entrée. I swear I probably got 5 or 6 refills of the beef and my wife did the same for the shrimp. The waiter was completely right when he said he saved the best for last. On that note, let me talk about the amazing desert. We chose a chocolate smore fondue dip that our server even lit on fire! We dipped fruit, cakes, and chocolates in it and it was so dang good! My husband wanted to surprise me and take me somewhere we have never been before. We went on a Wednesday night so I was not expecting it to be busy at all but this place was just straight dead. There was maybe like a family eating there and that was it. The people that worked there seemed to have a lot of time on their hands. I don't blame them as they technically are just plating the RAW foods for us customers to eat. We were seated fast as we had a reservation. Once seated, the hostess turned on the pot in the middle of the table. As it was heating up, we ordered drinks. Our server was very kind and informative as we let her know this was our first time. It was described as a 4-course meal. First came the "appetizer" which is a cheese fondue. You get an assortment of little cubes of bread, broccoli and diced apples to dip. Yes, I said apples. (Not sure if they were for dipping the cheese but I always try things for shits and giggles. LOL ) When the cheese came out, it was melted along with a vegetable broth for added flavor. The server poured the broth into the pot and then added the cheese (and bacon, potatoes, & onions as we picked a loaded potato cheese) and left us to eat. The bread was basic. We got 5 broccoli & like 4 pieces of carrots. And half a diced up apple. Once we finished the cheese fondue, we were brought our salads. I asked the server about the Romaine recall but she stated that they confirmed that they do not get their lettuce from Arizona (where the outbreak started). I got a garden salad with their house dressing (peppercorn ranch) & basically a fancy honey mustard. I devoured the salad in like 5 minutes because it was so small. It had exactly 5 croutons and I know because my hub had 5 also. Then our "entrees" came out. I got the special where it came with a lobster tail, chicken, filet mignon, and shrimp. It had a lobster tail that was cut into bite-sized pieces, exactly 3 pieces of chicken, 3 pieces of beef, 3 shrimps and 2 (I guess) ravioli. It was to be cooked in a Carribean based broth which had spices and added mushrooms and broccoli as veggies. When it came to the cooking time, the server advised us of different times depending on the meats. Personally, I just cooked my meats until they seem cooked and not raw to me. I was advised to cook the chicken for 2-3 minutes, but intuition made me cook it for 5-7. Better safe than sorry. Plus I would hope that people are smart enough to know when something is cooked all the way. It helps if you use all the skewers they give you and cook things at the same time or concurrently. Towards the end of this course, I was surprised that I was actually full. I pushed through and ate all the items on the entree to get my monies worth. The last course is dessert. I picked a s'mores fondue. Basically, it was melted milk chocolate with graham crackers bites and marshmallow fluff in the pot. It was cool when our server lit it on fire. We were given an assortment of sweets to dip. Marshmallows, rice crispy treats, brownies, bananas, strawberries, cake, cookies. The end result. A full ass stomach, unimpressed tastebuds and a bill that showed $118. This review is solely about the restaurant (not the servers), food and their audacity to bring these items to a customers table and call it gourmet. My partner and I decided to dine at the Melting Pot on a slow Thursday night. Service: Chris, a younger person with a friendly face, was our server. We couldn't have asked for better service and it really made our dining experience worth while. That's coming from a prior restaurant manager who is very particular about service. He also paid special attention to the fact that I am pregnant, what I could and could not eat, my likes and dislikes. The Hostess was very friendly as well. Actually, I'm not sure if she was the hostess or manager. Ambiance: you wouldn't think that restaurants in the mall could create a soothing, relaxed or romantic environment but the booths inside the Melting Pot will prove you wrong. I didn't drink so I skipped reviewing the wine and cocktail menu. I ordered earl grey tea to sip on and it was very good. Food - we each ordered the four course which seems to be their most popular. Cheese Fondue (1st course): We started with the shared spinach and artichoke fondue. My partner liked it, but it was a little too rich and garlicky for me. Salad (2nd course): He ordered the California salad and thought it was "awesome." I ordered the house with the sweet and tangy dressing. It was just ok, but I was having difficulty choosing something that wouldn't upset the food aversions I've developed due to the pregnancy. Main course: We both ordered the surf and turf accompanied by the classic vegetable broth. It came with a good portion of broccoli, mushrooms and potatoes on the side. There were five varieties of dipping sauces on the side as well most of which I really enjoyed. The lobster, filet and shrimp were of good quality and obviously my favorite part of the meal. The did offer a really good vegetarian option. Dessert: we ordered the turtle which was one of their specialities. It's chocolate, caramel and pecans melted together in the pot. For dipping, we received, rice crispy treats, marshmallows, blondie brownies, chocolate brownies, pound cake, bananas, strawberries and pineapple. This was a large portion and very good. We definitely were not able to finish it. My favorite was the pound cake and strawberries. $$$: I'd say the price was fair. In total we spent $134.00 which included the 20% tip we left our server. If we went again, I'd probably skip the cheese fondue and salad and just go straight for the entree and dessert. They do have individual portions so you don't have to spring for the four course meal. My husband and I were celebrating a small victory and we had a LocalFlavor coupon ($25 off $50) so we decided to celebrate at the Melting Pot in Destiny USA. We hadn't been here before, so we didn't really know what to expect. For a couple, there is a single burner in the middle of the table. This means, while you pay for 2 "servings" of cheese, 2 "servings" of cooking style, and 2 "servings" of chocolate, you must agree on the types of cheese, style, and chocolate served. We decided to order the Alpine cheese, the oil cooking style (which came with tempura batter!) and the s'mores chocolate. While the cheese was our favorite course, the 2 drinks apiece didn't hurt, either! The margarita was strong and the mai tai was fruity. I loved it. Next time, I think we'll split a 4 course meal rather than ordering our own - we were stuffed. We may pay extra for a second portion of (the same) cheese or chocolate, though... We had a great time, but be prepared - with the 4 course meal, the upgraded cooking style, and 4 drinks, even with the living social coupon we spent $120 and about 3 hours dining. I'm a huge fan of restaurants where you cook your own food as it fun and usually delicious given it's all being done in seasoned boiling broth. So I was especially exciting coming here with a large group of people. There were two separate experiences here, the food and the service. The food was delicious. The way it works is you choose the broth that you want and then your choice of meat or veggies. I had the Caribbean mojo broth with some chicken and seafood. It was absolutely delicious and that sentiment was shared by the entire group. Prior to eating, the staff did a great job explaining how the experience was supposed to work to all new comers. This includes how long to cook the food and the various types of broth. Beyond that, the service went completely downhill. The service was the most slow I've ever witnessed at a restaurant. We sat for nearly 20 minutes before even being acknowledged by a server, which caused many people in the party to be antsy. From there, each stop to the table by the sever was followed by 10-15 minutes of disappearance. When we finally ordered, the food took over an hour to arrive and there was no explanation from any of the staff or management about the severely delayed service. This was a really disappointing experience given how good the food was. A little communication would have gone a long way. read more

This made things tricky with seating because there are only 2 stoves per table, so make sure to put your vegetarians together otherwise there will be a lot of reaching and dripping. They will reload your dippers, which were bread and vegis for appetizers, your choice of meats (limited vegi entree options) and fruit, brownies, marshmallows etc for dessert. Melting pot is always a fun dining experience. I've gone twice- once on a date night and my most recent visit with with the Yelp Elite squad. For both experiences whether it was with Elite or just me and my fiancé, I felt that the service, food quality, and overall experience were very enjoyable. My favorite cheese dip is the spinach artichoke, with a Granny Smith Apple as a dipper. I love the Caesar salad but I just tried the house salad with both sweet and spicy sauce and peppercorn ranch and all 3 salad variations were delicious! There is a variety of entree options but it's always a safe bet to go with land and sea- some chicken, shrimp, and steak. They're each seasoned well with 5 complementary sauces. I would highly recommend the green goddess on literally everything. It's a mix of Gorgonzola cheese with herbs and spices. SO GOOD. Prior to the recent Yelp visit, I've always gotten the regular milk chocolate fondue. Classic, delicious, and always a hit. However, I tried the chocolate and peanut butter with nuts and it was so great. What beat both of these fondues was the bananas foster which is flambéed with Bacardi 151 and flavored with cinnamon. I don't think I could ever go back to plain milk chocolate. We had wine flight pairings with each of the courses which complemented each dish perfectly. We also tried the love martini which had Malibu, peach schnapps, and cranberry. It tasted like a jolly rancher and snuck up on you in a great way. The overall experience lasts between 2-3 hours so it's a perfect way to spend a date night or night out with friends. You'll definitely need those hours to really indulge and enjoy the 4 courses. What a great time I had at the melting pot! Come hungry, come with friends and be prepared to stay a few hours to savor every last bit of food. The cheese fondue first course comes with breads and vegetables. You can choose which cheeses you would like , but the spinach artichoke was my favorite fondue. It was a great beginning to the night. The salads were also spectacular. I had a Caesar, which actually had pine nuts that were encrusted with Parmesan cheese. You just can't get enough cheese. I ordered the land and sea, which contained filet mignon, chicken, large white shrimp, vegetables and potatoes. We were provided pots of broth in which to cook the food. Along with the main course were a number of dipping sauces, all fantastic. As if that wasn't enough, we had to forge our way through the desert course. I tried the original fondue which is chocolate and peanut butter as well as the bananas foster fondue, which was lit on fire at the table. You will be doing the cooking in Fondue Pots on your table.Keep littleones away as they risk getting burned. The 4 course meal is a bit of a joke, a tiny salad is served after your cheese fondue then your raw meats which you cook in a broth fondue pot. The Steak lovers meal was just overly seasoned with Black Pepper and I am not sure of how many people really want to eat a boiled Filet Mignon. There is no grilled food. You do the work, which kind of defeats the purpose of going out for dinner. The service was decent, drinks over priced $20.00 for a Ying Yang Martini and honestly if I wanted to cook my own dinner I could have saved money ,had a better meal and not have had to suffer boiled food. After last nights Yelp Elite event at the Melting Pot located in the Canyon of Destiny, I truly understand what it is to be a crocodile. We started the evening with signature Martinis followed by cheese fondu, which was, very much cheese. I loved the bread and the apples. Both were fresh. Vegetables were provided but I had my eyes on the prize and didn't want to take up valuable room. We were reminded often by our fondu coach Lauren that we were running a "marathon". The main course consisted of fat shrimp, lean filet and seasoned chicken. Everything was so nicely prepped and ready to be quickly cooked in the steaming pots of broth. This is were it's a nice reminder that we are here for the experience. This is a nice long meal to share with friends, laugh, drink and be merry. You may be cooking, but someone has prepped, and the waitstaff whisks away plates, replaces utensils and fills your glass before you notice you need it! Dessert was really good. Cheesecake cubes? It is a bit pricey, and you can choose from a series of course selections, but you get to cook your own meat, choose your own cheese dippings, and your series of desserts. The full 5 (or 6?) course meal is way too much food, but the cheese and chocolate is not to be missed. I can't say the bread or fruits/veggies felt very fresh, but if you go to a fondue restaurant in a mall, this is about what you'd expect. We had never been before and our server, Lindsey L, was phenomenal in working with us to understand the menu and how the meal is served and prepared. Someone got a reboot. --- My wife and I sampled a 3-course here because we received a generous gift card for Xmas. But man, what a weird place. It tries so hard to be upscale on the outside, but 5 minutes in you realize the food is, at best, some sort of everyday salad-bar alchemy. We sat at the bar and unlike many reviewers' experiences here, we found the service to be helpful, friendly, and responsive. So much effort was put into narrating the assembled fondue, in fact, that we felt bad for our bartender who had to go through this pretentious charade mixing prepackaged shredded cheese. Likewise, the dipping ingredients included stale bread, mushy apples, and dried out veggies (celery, really?). The wedge salad was redeeming, but when our server handed us a plastic shaker to dress it with their dollar-store seasoning, we were just confused. This place is great, there was one by me back in MASS, so I was hoping for a great experience here in Syracuse. I love hot pot, it's much more common among asian restaurants. The service was great, the food was great, exactly what I expected, just like the one from back home. I loved that they had a groupon since dinner can be so expensive there. One tiny note: our server was great, but he forgot to mention that the cheese or chocolate gets hotter the closer you get to the bottom of the bowl, something the servers back in MASS always reminded us about and should be noted here, because my fiancé burnt his tongue unexpectedly. Fondu is fun. The melting pot typically does it right. The cost is reasonable for what you get, it's just too bad that on two occasions now they have been out of the oil to cook your food. I wish they would inform you before you order and begin eating the cheese fondu course because I'm not a fan of boiled anything. Has anyone gone into a restaurant and asked for boiled anything (besides seafood boils). Yes, I'd like the boiled filet mignon please. I don't get it. Besides the oil, every other cooking option rinses the seasoning off and drowns it in the same flavor mixed in the broth. No thanks. When this happens, you feel cheated. If this doesn't happen, you probably had enjoyable food and entertainment in a more intimate approach to dining out. Melting Pot- Syracuse...if you're running low on something as benign as cooking oil, run to the grocery store and get some more please.
