What makes this place stand out is two things. The quality of food and the friendly service. I walk into this place at least twice a week and everyone is more than happy to help you with anything you need or any questions you have. This seems to be a rarity nowadays. When you visit this restaurant for the first time, there is a checklist of things I frequently do here. 1. Make my steak tip sandwich order. This will take a couple minutes since they cook it to order. FYI, the steak tip meat is what made this store a hit when it first started. 2. Walk around and taste from the many samples of food they have. You can sample some of the different type of meats they prepare, breads and gourmet oils, chips and salsa and sometimes they'll have slices of sandwiches you can try. 3. Take a look at the meat at the butcher area and order steak or chicken to cook for the week. Quick tip: I'm not sure if they still do this, but if this is your first time here, let them know and ask them if you can get one of their raw steak tips to go! It really is an awesome piece of meat and was the first place I've ever been to that gives you samples of raw meat to bring home to cook! read more

On a recent weekend morning, I called the Meat House to inquire about roasted chickens and was told they were roasting chickens that day and asked my name to reserve one which I provided. I showed up later that day to find that they had reserved not one but two chickens which they were attempting to charge me ~$28 apiece!!! Typically, even at Whole Foods, we pay between $9-10 for a roasted chicken but I figured, in Summit, they would try to squeeze me for a couple of extra bucks for the "Summit Premium". In any case, I told them the price was ridiculous, they could keep their roasted chicken and walked out with the guy mumbling something about charging by the pound. Also, it appeared none of their loose produce was marked. I guess the marketing strategy is to not share pricing and guilt people into paying the outrageous prices once they arrive at the register assuming a good percentage do not check the bill or feel embarrassed about complaining about pricing. My advice is to leave it with them and walk out. Going forward I am sticking with reliable shops (which have available and free parking) which have treated their customers fairly for many years like Kings and Barth's Market. read more

I went here with my daughter who lives down the street from here yesterday. I had the steak tip sandwich with a tip and let me tell you this was truly the best sandwich I have ever eaten in my entire life. The sandwich is 8 dollars and worth every penny . The aioli and sirachi they put on the sandwich make it so savory and flavorful and the steak tip and yes bacon are perfectly cooked. Meat house has a great selection and quality of meats (as the name suggests). Their heroes (sandwiches) are really great and I think those are well-priced. They are easy in a pinch if you live in the neighborhood and need a quick grocery item. The produce is hit or miss, but, usually you can find something. Friends have been raving about this place. Finally I went to go check it out. Staff is very friendly the place is clean and beautiful. They have a wide selection of high quality products, and superb cuts of meat even Kobe beef hot dogs and organic bacon!!!! (Hard to find). They had loaded potato salad macaroni salad amongst others But no fries for my steak sandwich. The steak sandwich was a peppery marinated perfectly seared beef tips. Not sure what kind of cheese but it was an excellent pair. The roll was about an 8 inch baguette they brushed on a butter and garlic aioli. Peppers onions mushrooms you have to ask for they make it to your liking. Overall it's the best cheesesteak I've ever had. Now the pork. The pulled pork came on a large onion roll with pickles and slaw. The pork itself was cooked to perfection. Buttery soft melt in your mouth juicy piggy. The marinade was nice and subtle ( wasn't BBQ sauce they do it differently but equally scrumptious) the slaw was so very fresh (as was everything else). I had a really good experience here today so it prompted me to write a review of just how awesome this place is. I ordered a simple wrap with grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers and spring greens with balsamic dressing and it was delicious. Everything tasted really fresh and it was a nice hearty sized wrap for the price. My service is consistently great at The Meat House. Warm, friendly staff who are always ready to answer questions and are very careful to get your order right. Good service and a staff that seems to genuinely care about customers is getting harder to find these days so I am always thrilled when I find it at a place like this! Of what I've tasted sandwiches are a must try (steak tip especially), meats are always fresh and delicious and the sides they Make in house are good too! I bought 5 steak tip kabobs and and 5 chicken kabobs for a party we were hosting and the total was $97. I was a shocked how expensive they were. After tasting them it was totally worth the cost. Their turkey burgers with feta and sun dried tomatoes are unbelievably good, and we also love the maple bourbon chicken breasts. For a real treat, the KC rubbed rib eye steaks are hard to beat. So I was just there returning my milk jug and purchasing another. When u return a milk jug you get $1.50 off your purchase (which is the price of the deposit on the jug). My mom and I had a simple question Bc we noticed they charged us an additional $1.50 instead of deducting it (the deposit). We were wondering why that was. The young girl was confused and had no idea what she was talking about. She got help from someone else, an older woman with glasses, and all she did was confuse us and make something so simple worse. She too insisted that we were being charged because we only "swapped" it out. So, she got the manager. After the fact that she was completely rude and rolled her eyes several times. The manager was a doll! He understood our simple question and answered it with no problem or confusion. Then the older lady continued to roll her eyes and be utterly rude and unprofessional. I've long been a big fan of the Meat House and quite often make sure to go out of my way to stop at one of their other locations when I'm in Connecticut, so when I saw that they were going to be opening a location in nearby Summit I couldn't wait. And I've gotta say, this location is just as good as any other. We stopped in for opening weekend and while they have a few kinks to work out, it lives up to the high level of service and quality they're known for. Yes it's a little more expensive than your local super market, but thats because you only get the best quality. We're big fans of their maple bourbon steak tips and they're worth every penny. They grill up perfectly and do not disappoint. It's a great addition to the neighborhood and one that'll have you returning over and over again. The only drawback is the typical Summit parking issue. Even though they have free parking a lot behind the building, its shared with many other stores and filled up quickly. read more

My positive review stays. Went there for a second time, expecting it to not be as good as the first. It was better. Firstly, the hospitality and service is amazing. When you walk in, you feel at home because the environment is so good and the people are so nice. That alone is 5 star quality. Until you get the food. I have had many sandwiches, but the Meat House's sandwiches come nowhere close, and I am proud to say one of the best sandwiches I have ever had.
