When I saw a Facebook announcement about the opening of a new frozen custard shop in Grovetown I was excited! I inquired if they would be serving my favorite flavor: Strawberry Butter. The owner wrote back and ask if I had this flavor at The Armadillo in South Dakota. I had, but had never seen it anywhere else. I was so excited when I got a message saying they were churning Strawberry Butter today and asking me to come taste it and let them know if it they got it right. We stopped by this evening to try it and to my delight, they got it absolutely right! The sweet girls who waited on us said they had been waiting all day for me to come by and gave me the container to enjoy at home. My grandson ordered a Reeses sundae which he proclaimed "better than DQ". My friend Sally from Vermont who loves "a softee" got a vanilla cone and said it may be the best frozen custard she's ever had! The shop is bright and clean. They have walk up window and cute play ice cream parlor for the littles to practice becoming future ice cream makers. Please go by the Meadows and try their delicious frozen custards, gelatos, and Italian ices. They also have some cafe items and are adding nachos to the menu. I'm retracting my 5 star review. New management/owner and the custard is not at all the same. It's very airy now to the point that we felt bloated afterwards from just a small serving. I had hoped it was just a calibration type problem and do I got a quart to take home and it was the same. read more

Stopped by The Meadows on a hot day after dinner and it hit the spot! We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and even though the place was empty, the service was warm and friendly. This is your typical Custard place but instead of the custard coming out of the ice cream machine it's in a cooler in a tub. If you enjoy Rita's, you'll definitely enjoy the gelato here. My friend and I couldn't decide which flavors to get so we got two gelatos. Each gelato has a layer of custard and Italian ice. We got one with cherry Italian ice paired with chocolate custard and another with mango Italian ice with vanilla custard. Of the two, the chocolate custard definitely was better, so I highly recommend that. It wasn't overly sweet and the pairing with the Italian ice really made each bite savory. There are few tables to dine in, but seems like most people order to go. The service was fantastic; the young staff working there were very helpful is explaining first timers like us what everything was. It was quiet and an enjoyable atmosphere at night to hang out and enjoy some gelato. They do close at 9pm on most days, so just be mindful of their hours being different from the weekend time which is 10pm. Highly recommend. We wanted to come back 2 days later but by the time we finished dinner, it was few minutes till closing. That means we will be back! read more

After a date lunch, this is our favorite place to hang out before heading back to work. The custard, in my opinion, is better than ice cream. The flavors are richer and the texture is more smooth--think exceptionally high quality soft serve. The mix-ins (today was butterfingers) are evenly spread throughout, not clumped or on top. Today the ratio of candy to custard was just right. Not too much of either. The restaurant is very kid-friendly, with a playpen and toys for the younger children and board games for the older ones. They have a changing table with some emergency diapers, if you need them (very surprised by that!) I was also pleased to note that they serve my favorite local coffee roaster, Goat Kick Coffee. I haven't tried their espresso drinks, so no comments on that, but they do have coffee if you'd like that to go with your dessert. read more

Been wanting to try this place out on a hot day and that day happened to be today, and I sure am glad I did. Brought the whole family in and luckily it wasn't crowded, I ended up getting the Turtle favorite that they have, minus the pecans and wow! It was so good and smooth it was like clouds but better, because there was caramel and that just makes everything better... caramel is essentially the bacon of desserts There are a few tables so plenty of seats and if you are bringing any little ones they have this little house with all the ice cream toy essentials so kids like my daughter can serve her "customers" while we wait for our treats to arrive. If you're ever in Grovetown and craving a sweet treat check this spot out, will not disappoint! Next time I'm going to be leaving with one of those espresso shakes! read more

We've been a few more times because my daughter really likes the little play house they have inside, and I actually have no complaints. I've been following their facebook page and pick which days we try to get out there based on what their flavors of the day are. I've noticed that if you don't want to go inside, they have a walk up window next to the front doors which is super neat. If you don't want to get out of the car, feel free to utilize their drive thru. When you order in the drive thru, you'll pull up to the window and order face to face versus a speaker box. I like how they want to keep everything at face value. I've recently tried their caramel espresso shake, and holy smokes is it amazing. You get the nice espresso flavor shining through, but it isn't too over powering and the shake isn't overly sweet either. I'd recommend trying it! We've also tried their cappuccino chocolate chunk affogato style and it's pretty much my favorite. And their regular turtle custard is very smooth and velvety. I can happily say the pecans you do get in this aren't super salty. We've recently met the owner, and learned that they use to work at one 20 years ago. He said he figured they'd bring their favorite ice cream shop to Grovetown and share it with everyone else. I'm glad they did because we missed it. We'll be back throughout the summer, whether it'd be for the espresso shakes, affogato, or just some custard! read more

Honestly Meadows Frozen Custard has the best ice cream in the area. Besides Culver's I would love to try the custard here. So far I tried the frozen coffee or a coffee ice cream I forgot what it was but it was really wonderful especially the caramel kind. I have no regrets it would be nice to find many restaurants that actually serve custard. One of my really go to places in Grovetown. read more

There is this beautiful dessert that some have no clue about that is frozen custard. They will compare it much the way people compare iced coffee and cold brew, "it's the same thing right?" No, no it's not. Frozen custard is so rich, so creamy, so life alternating in relation to ice cream that they should not be sold within a mile of each other. Just my opinion on that. It was a Saturday afternoon when I found myself in the Grovetown area and remembered High Meadows had opened. It was rainy and Mother's Day weekend so I expected it to not be busy. I still opted for the drive-through, as our two furry ones were in the back seat. Looking at the menu, I was overwhelmed with glee. I wanted everything. Vanilla frozen custard, Oreo's crushed in the custard, custard infused with espresso. But alas I showed restraint. I went with the Arctic Swirl, with Oreo's. Imagine your favorite candy bar or cookie, only frozen and twice as good. I will mention that you pull up to the window to order (as most are set up with ordering and pickup separate), but that's fine with me. I also received a Buy One, Get One free card. I was coming back already, but now I really am. If you are a cone lover, you can save the wrapper off 10 cones and you get the 11th one free. Sounds like I need to schedule more frozen custard in my life. The team was super friendly. I will mention that they are at the far end of a strip of stores (in case GPS is slightly off) and you have to pull around the back of the building to get in the drive-through line. Parking might get tight as the store spaces fill up, but I'll make it work. If you try it, you will too. read more

I'm not normally a fan of frozen custard but this place is amazing! I took some friends and we did frozen custard, sundaes, shaved ice, and coffee. All the things we ordered came out great! Inexpensive for the quality of food and drink. They also have a little play house which is great for the little kids. Bathrooms are clean and store is clean. Definitely worth the visit! I had seen the signs for this shop coming for a while and I knew they would be great, since we had one back in Maryland. We walked in and were greeted nicely right from the start. I brought my 2 children and they loved it because there was a little play house for them to enjoy. I ordered them both baby custards (size isn't included on the menu) and my daughter wanted strawberry, they blended hers up with strawberry and added whip cream for no addition charge. I also ordered 2 espresso shakes one caramel, and one White Chocolate. They initially made the wrong item, they made 2 hot lattes with the right flavors. They instantly apologized for the error and remade them no problem, I did not mind waiting since my kids were happy playing in the little play house. Very excited about my first visit today. The window staff was very cheerful, polite and smiling. I used the drive thru option and was excited to learn one of the custard flavors of the day was Banana! One of my favorite dessert flavors. I ordered a medium size in a cup. It was pure heaven lol. Cold, Creamy, Rich and Tasty. It was so smooth and fresh. It's sooo good that it must be bad lol. I'm definitely visiting again this week for another flavor experience. We tried the mango gelati and banana shake. The Gelati was so so good. 10/10 would recommend this. The banana shake was a lil disappointment, it lacked flavor however it was made with a real banana. Just tasted like vanilla custard with bits of mushed banana. I hope their other shakes are more impactful but we shall try next time and see! read more

My boyfriend and I found this place less than a month ago and LOVE it. I'm a little embarrassed to say that we have now been at least four times in the few weeks since our discovery. I've had their turtle sundae, espresso shake, custard of the day, arctic swirl - they are all FANTASTIC. It never takes long to get your order, and the inside is always very clean (including the restrooms). If it weren't for my boyfriend who actually practices some self-control, I'd probably go a couple times a week... Good thing one of has some willpower. read more

They have two daily specials and usually have a monthly calendar of what flavors they will be whipping up. The shop is brand new so it is very clean and they have a kiddie area for the young ones to play. My favorite has always been the Italian ice in assorted flavors.
