I remember being really impressed with the beautiful interior - dark wood and the chandeliers and booths in the main dining room. When my then fiance and I started looking for venues in April 2022, we really had no idea what to expect. Katherine Sirota with Alameda's Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) quickly let us know their availability for the remainder of 2022 and early 2023 since you can book up to a year in advance. We opted for the first long weekend in 2023 - the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and went ahead and paid the deposit. This place is quite popular for events and I definitely encourage brides to get in touch with staff sooner rather than later to secure their date. ARPD provides really comprehensive documentation to walk you through the planning process including individual room layouts depending on which rooms you book (the Lobby and Main Hallway are included). The Lobby area was perfect for the photobooth we ended up renting, some extra seating for guests who wanted to sit for a bit, and the welcome table. The Main Hallway was great for setting up chafing dishes for buffet service. We also ended up booking the Trident Room for cocktail hour (perfect for our 150ish guests) and they have a portable bar and cocktail tables for use. The Main Dining Room was perfect for dinner and our 18 tables fit quite comfortable with extra room for a fully clear dance floor, coffee and tea station, and boba and dessert tables. There are some limitations when it comes to the kind of decor - no sparklers, no candles/flames, no fog machines, etc., but the venue is honestly beautiful enough without needing too much to dress it up. The venue was also really flexible when it came to all the vendors we used - Cousins Maine Lobster out on the patio, Noodle Belly on the interior, So Good Photobooth, etc. which really helped us cut costs. Lastly, on the day-of, they have an attendant there at 11 am until midnight. It was great because we got to drop things off in the morning so that the waitstaff could set-up before our afternoon cocktail hour and evening dinner. I realize some people may feel more comfortable dropping off and setting up well in advance, but I think the option to do so may only be for Saturday events (our wedding was a Sunday). When it came time to do the walkthrough at the end of the event, the attendant was really thorough and quick. We ended up just needing to clear out a few extra garbage bins but were otherwise told we'd get our deposit back. Katherine confirmed this along with our mailing address the next business day and I was really happy with their responsiveness and guidance throughout the whole process. One thing to note is that parking is not a problem here since there's a huge lot across the street from the building. One other review I read said they didn't feel quite safe in the area, but nothing happened during our event.

It was hands down the best party we have had in many years. Amanda (Mandy) was our coordinator for the occasion. Usually I am in charge of setting up, decorating, hosting games, etc. and it can be stressful. This was the most stress free party all because of Amanda. She was GREAT! She helped me unload my car with gifts, set the gifts up on the tables, printed a sign for me for our Secret Santa gift table and even pulled out these show stopper Christmas center pieces to make the tables more festive. I joked and asked her if she had her own Michaels or Hobby Lobby hiding in the back somewhere. She even offered to cut the cake, that we bought outside, while we all played games. The food was top notch - the Salmon was delicious. Our director forgot to order appetizers ahead of time but Amanda was able to pull off fruit, cheese and cracker plates and buffalo wings. There's a seasoning area with provided salt because the meat is so good all you need is salt. Look like a pro and bring a pot to put your grilled meat into. HINT: To grill the Portuguese way, use a piece of fat to grease your skewer, pack the beef tightly on the skewer, liberally crust with salt from the seasoning area and grill meat. When done bang the skewer to expel excess salt. Avoid overcooking as the meat will continue to cook after placed in your pot. Cover & allow the meat to rest 10-min before eating! The ballroom is spacious and worked wonderfully for our large wedding. We had plenty of room for our guests, dining, dancing, and reception activities without the space feeling cramped. The food was great and we had no complaints. We had the cod with grape tomato vinaigrette, roast beef, and chicken Marsala, and our guests enjoyed the meal. We also brought in some additional food from outside vendors to supplement the appetizers, which worked really well for us and gave our guests even more variety. One thing to keep in mind is that there is only one bar, so the line can get a little long during busy periods, especially with a larger wedding. An additional bar option for larger weddings would definitely be a nice addition. But the biggest highlight of our experience was our day-of coordinator, Jacoby. She was absolutely AMAZING! She set up all of our DIY decor and executed my vision flawlessly. Seeing everything set up and beautifully executed was such an amazing feeling. Beyond the decor, Jacoby was attentive, organized, responsive, and incredibly calm throughout the entire day. She handled so many details behind the scenes and was always one step ahead. She made sure everything was where it needed to be, kept the day moving smoothly, and took care of issues before they ever became something we had to worry about. She genuinely cared about our wedding and making sure we had the day we envisioned. Having Jacoby there allowed us to actually enjoy our wedding instead of worrying about logistics. We are so grateful for all of her hard work, attention to detail, and the care she put into making our day so special. She truly went above and beyond, and she was a huge part of why our wedding day was so seamless. Once Jacoby left for the evening, Jovani took over as our captain for the night, and he was fantastic as well. There was potato salad, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, salad, beans, pesto salad, and rolls.
