I've been coming to The Mat about five days a week for the last 2 years. One of the things I appreciate most is the variety of classes they offer. Whether you're looking for weighted or non-weighted workouts, heated or non-heated classes, there's something for everyone and every fitness level. The instructors are all incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and supportive. They consistently encourage everyone to work at their own pace, making the studio feel comfortable whether you're brand new or have been practicing for years. There's never any pressure to keep up with anyone else, just a positive environment that helps you improve over time. If you're looking for a studio with great instructors, diverse class options, and an encouraging community, I highly recommend checking out The Mat.

Did the trial run for the two weeks for $55. Decided to book me a couple of hot Pilates classes and I haven't done exercising in years and it was a great way to kind of get back into it. Having the hot Pilates classes, felt like I was doing a two for one, doing the Pilates as well as being able to sweat it out like being in a sauna. The team was really kind and instructors were really great as well. Unfortunately, I haven't been back due to an injury, but when I get a chance, I will be back

I have been coming here religiously for almost a year now and it's still my biggest obsession! I was getting super unmotivated and bored with just gyming and decided to try out hot Pilates. Joselyn & Crystal are the owners of this hot Pilates studio, and they're the best in the Bay Area. With their second location in Hercules opening soon, I am excited for them to have more space/room since the Vallejo location has been getting a bit crowded. They formed a sense of community that I never would've thought to have. I'm a very much in-and-out type of girl when it comes to the gym, but I find myself making friends and connections here!! I'm so glad I made the leap of faith to start a new fitness journey. The mat will always be my obsession!

I've now been at the Mat for over two years, and it's still just as amazing as when I first started going - if anything, it's only gotten better. The instructors are all great. They offer a variety of classes for all levels and needs. And they've been doing more events and community classes. Don't hesitate to come join us at the Mat!

All you need is your Matt, a towel and some H2O. The Mat will take care of anything else. With a variety of classes ranging from hot Pilates, yoga, strength training, cardio, and many many more- you can check off doing something for yourself before the house even wakes up! Do it, I challenge you! Mom of 4, Diane

The Mat is still an amazing place to come for an energy hype or a slow flow. They have added more equipment for workouts. This is still a ten out of ten!

My spot for sure! I've take over 400 classes here and keep going back. It's not easy but well worth it.

There is an exercise named the hundreds, and after doing it, my neck would hurt. I told Cristela about it after class. The next morning Cristela said she'd been thinking about it and wanted to watch me do the exercise. She noticed I lifted with my head first instead of my chest and that was what was causing my neck to hurt. She is very thoughtful with every member. It is not just Cristela that is knowledgeable, patient and kind; every instructor is invested in seeing the members work at their own pace and succeed. Wednesday, January 10, 2024: commencement of text messages from "Club Pilates Benicia" from someone named Aaijsha? with the 1855.920.0316 text number.  Sunday, March 2, 2024: I ask for a menu, any grand opening specials & their open date. Said due to open April 6. I ask for the menu. ask me to call when I already confirmed I preferred text messages. I ask for a menu again. He/She asks for "a menu of what? I don't understand what your asking me"I state a membership menu., a brochure of all the membership options; something with all the plans people are able to select from and see the membership options. (very standard & typical for any business newly opening up) marketing material...I asked if that made senseHe/She stated they don't put pricing on brochures because prices are subject to change and asked if he/she was making sense to me.  Sometime in March:They had a couple pop-ups. One got cancelled due to the rain. Thursday, April 28, 2024: I walk into the studio as I see they are open. I finally see a brochure! never mention my experience but glad to get some questions answered. Lovely girl with bangs that helped me. She said they had a promo but never mentioned that there was a deadline. I let her know I will definitely join but needed to consult with my husband as to which plan because the promo was not applicable to the plan that includes being able to work out at other locations as we do travel.  Today, May 3, 2024 8am: I walk in because I called twice and no answer. I try and sign up to take advantage of the promo and they tell me I can't. The computer was down so I had to wait for a re-boot. I inquired about joining that day and being able to still make it to a class because I scanned the cute little QR code on the back of the brochure I got the week prior and it brought me to intro classes only for the following week and I wanted to take a class that morning or day- right away. I've already taken the into class at the Walnut Creek location and my friend is opening up the El Cerrito location but I live here so by default of course. The lady in front advises I come to the 10am class that the owner teaches. Im just exhausted at this point to get an answer, contact. I WANT TO JOIN BUT AFTER AN ENDLESS RUN AROUND & GETTING TREATED LIKE THIS,WOULD YOU SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS & JOIN? I DON'T FEEL VALUED AS A PERSON, CONSUMER, MEMBER, WOMAN, MOTHER NOTHING.

Long story short, if…read moreyou go to the ER while you are here or shortly after, you have to immediately return with a copy of a doctor's note or email it. You need to do this asap and specify freezes on all services. If you have Kids Klub, END IT. I went to Vivian who was there the last time I had an ER visit a couple years ago: this past December, I was injured again suddenly on site during a training appointment (due to my body/health situation, not my trainer or an exercise injury) and I let her know I was getting a ride to the ER this time instead of an ambulance, since it was a was a touch less urgent. She was responsive this day and seemed to enter the freezes correctly. I dropped off the first note 2 days later to support a freeze for a couple months since a major surgery would get scheduled. I was told I had an 8" growth and cancer in my blood and had to wait the entire winter holidays for further info until doctors were back in the hospital. A few weeks later the billing began... I called Vivian and mentioned my bank was informed of my condition and knew to not pay the bills until a certain date. She laughed and said I'd be billed later anyways. I felt like "I have cancer again, I could die this time with this huge growth. She's laughing at me." I know it was not personal, but forgive me, I'll never forget the feeling of thinking I might die and getting this is the response while asking for help. My health is poor after surviving breast cancer treatments in 2020 and they wrecked parts of my body but eradicated an aggressive form of breast cancer. I don't want to go into how bad the type is, but the odds are very bad with that type and they use the highest doses of their most aggressive chemo to eradicate the cancer. That's why I struggle and have gone to the ER twice in a couple years. But working out improves my condition, so it's essential. I'm so glad I found out a few days later that the current ER test was a misdiagnosis. I eventually received a big surgery, recovered and called in to sort out the bills that were waiting for me. Because I was experienced in navigating the disorganized billing practices, it was a smaller bill this time. I reached a teleservice rep who had her manager Mark look into it and it was fixed after 3 phone calls for a full refund. I know it's not personal. But I've decided that clearly this is not customer service at all. This is just workers, protecting themselves and the company and you just have to advocate super quick, do the footwork and calls and take notes, document, stay on it, trust nothing, stay positive and confirm and be persistent. Most businesses exhibit hospitality and customer service at an average level. Often if a medical incident occurs you'll get a compassionate response and excellent customer care. Not here, you will get compassion at first and solutions that fall through. Then they will lose confidence and be strained but still attempt to help. Eventually, it requires an escalation and manager intervention to correct the situation. The in-gym customer service experience will be good about situational things like everyday interactions. But if your issue has ANYTHING to do with billing, there is no safety net no matter how serious your medical situation. Had I only had a normal membership instead of a training membership too, I probably could have just canceled or never been the wiser. I'm actually hopeful no one ever has to experience this zone that they are weak at. But if you do, stay flexible, positive, and stay on it. Good luck and good health! I saw billing fees,

Hands down. I joined last year because even though 24 hour fitness was more affordable, the machines and building were just going down hill fast. The last straw was when I had a partially torn meniscus. I couldn't go up and down stairs but I still went to the gym for rehab and for upper body. Their elevator has been out of service for WEEKS. Essentially making it nearly impossible for me to workout if I needed to use the restroom or locker rooms at all. After this I looked through multiple gyms, pricing and their benefits and went with Anytime. I absolutely LOVE that I can go to any of the AF gyms. I've been to a few others and it's been great to hit the gym when I'm traveling or on vacation. Overall Pinole AF is clean, safe and I love that I never really have had to wait for a machine. Yes the gym is small, but it makes up for it by being one of the most hygienic places I've worked out in. Most of the time if someone is on a machine they never truly hog it and I'm able to get my workout done in the time I want. I'm grateful to have found AF Pinole!
