Let me start by saying this is my 7th or 8th months with Redux CrossFit now. First time I met head coach Dave, he was very welcoming. When I started the fundamentals he explained everything in the level where my brain and body can and will understand all the moves and techniques in order for me to move on and join the group. He is very knowledgeable not only in the field of CrossFit but also in the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Before joining CrossFit I was a bit scared and felt intimidated thinking that only "buff" athletic people are the one who joins CrossFit and they might make me feel out of place but I was wrong. At Redux CrossFit Vallejo everyone is very welcoming and friendly! Friendly to a point that you will feel like some of them are already family. My number one concern before was child care, after doing my research no CrossFit around my area offers daycare but at Redux CrossFit Vallejo everyone is welcome to bring their kids. The kids play in front of the area were we do our workout and all the mom and dad help each other eyeing the kids. The area is a big sports complex, somedays the kids play inside the soccer field area with only 3 exits that are located in front of the workout area. Don't worry they are safe! (Just bring snacks for them ). Workout hours start as early as 5 am and the latest is at 6:30 pm. Aside from the head coach Dave, there are 3 more coaches that teach around the clock, different days for the whole week Monday thru Saturday. I started going to CrossFit Redux after the gyms were allowed to reopen (pandemic). It is a wonderful space in an absolute spectacular location (right on the water) with ample parking. This place is WONDERFUL! This is my first month with Redux and I'm loving the whole journey so far. Very nice and supportive coaches! You get 3 one-on-one sessions with head coach Dave to cover the foundations before getting started. He is very thorough and overall a great coach. We moved to Vallejo not too long ago and am so happy to find a great outdoor workout place! The workouts are generally short but don't let that fool you. They are killers! I've been doing CrossFit for just a few weeks now. I needed to find a regiment that would work for me and these guys have exceeded all of my expectations. I'll try to keep it short but for anyone looking to start something new, here are a few of my biggest points. A) The Workouts hurt so good. They can be intense but you walk out with a new confidence in yourself. The coaches coach you through the movements and exercises and encourage you to do your best. You know what the WOD is before you go in and can formulate an expectation or plan based off it. B) Although you work out for yourself, because we're in a small group setting (COVID friendly) there's a team aspect built into it. Personally, I feed off that. It pushes me to continue when it gets tough. When I want to set a goal for myself, I can count on any one of them (whether they know it or not) to help me get through it. C) The App is user friendly. It's got all the WOD out a week in advance. There are time slots for each class and it makes it easy to reserve your spot among the 12. Results are tracked so you can see how you've progressed over time. And you can connect with everyone else involved. All in all. Despite the impact of COVID-19 they've been able to keep the doors open through innovation. I'm in my 2nd year of CrossFit, traveled a lot, visited many boxes and seen different coaches and styles. The approach at CrossFit Redux is in line with the original philosophy of CrossFit - varied functional movements across domains. The atmosphere is positive. The coaches are superb. It's a great program! Here are some highlights: - small class size (allows for more 1:1 coaching) - focus on long-term health and mobility - diverse group of ages and experience levels - coaching focuses on fundamentals (reduces risk of injury, gives you a foundation for solid performance) - supportive community (helps me push when fatigued) - clean and spacious, great equipment - convenient location, schedule At other gyms, I've seen large class sizes. CrossFit uses Olympic lifting techniques. Without 1:1 coaching, you simply can't learn how to do the movements properly. The small class sizes at CrossFit Redux solve this problem. My way into Crossfit Redux was working with their nutrition coach Nathan Brammeier. All my life I've had a weight problem and tried all kinds of diets. I was never really successful and had given up trying until Nathan taught me about what proper nutrition really is!! In eight months I lost eighty pounds and went from a size 24 to a size 6. But that wasn't all I got help with at Crossfit Redux. After a month and a half I started to do personal training with their head coach Dave Gonzalez until I felt comfortable joining the crossfit classes. Crossfit Redux is really a family to me. Coming from a bigger Crossfit box that did not even pay attention to who I am, Crossfit Redux is such a welcoming community. I enjoy the atmosphere and the welcoming environment of this box. I always look forward to working out knowing that my friends are there. The box is so friendly with family and their kids which makes it even more a warm community. I enjoy seeing a lot of kids in the play room and making time to play with them. If my schedule does not allow me to join a class, I can always text anybody at the box if I can work out alone and they are always gracious to accommodate me. We chose Crossfit Redux because of their class schedules. They are one of the few around that have a class before 6am. Being a member for over six months I can say my flexibility and cardio has drastically improved. My 5k time dropped nearly 6 minutes in a separate running event and we don't even condition long distance running at Redux. You get everything you need here.
