I started coming here when I was 16 and recently decided to return, genuinely hoping to have a good experience. Unfortunately, I left very disappointed. In my experience, this is a place where you either feel like you belong or you don't. There were times I felt judged, uncomfortable, and honestly more bullied than supported. There was also an interaction when I first came back that made me uncomfortable. The owner asked how I had been after all these years, and during the conversation I mentioned that I now have a son. He asked how old my son was, and when I said he was 6, he made a snarky comment along the lines of, "You should have come back sooner." I found that comment very inappropriate and unnecessary, especially considering the personal circumstances and years of my life that had passed since I was last there. It immediately contributed to the feeling that I was being judged rather than welcomed back. The membership situation was ultimately the final straw. I completed the 3-month agreement I originally signed up for and immediately communicated that I did not want to continue. I was not trying to cancel early or get out of an agreement. The 30-day cancellation policy only came up when we discussed going month-to-month after my original 3 months had ended. Being charged for a fourth month on something I understood to be a 3-month agreement clearly indicates that there was a lack of clarity somewhere. What made the situation worse was how the owner responded when I questioned the charge. I found his responses disrespectful and condescending. I was reminded about the discount I had received, and my mom was brought into the conversation simply because her card was on file. At some point, I believe a business should be able to communicate respectfully with the actual member regarding their own membership. I supported this business, paid my membership, and chose to come back after years away. I never expected special treatment, but I did expect basic respect and clear communication. It was my first time there and also my first time doing a circuit class like that, and she helped guide me when I questions about each station and correct form. Huge space with state of the art equipment but very dark facility (think club vibe like the low lighting at Barry's or Rumble). I took their SUDAMIX step classes only. This is a high energy cardio workout where you'll be stepping to fast-paced (high BPM) hip-hop and Latin music with some salsa inspired portions. For the newbies, the class is very minimal on instructions and slightly challenging to see/hear the upcoming moves (loud music, dark room), so try to get close to the instructor (center of first row). It does require quite a bit coordination, being quick on your feet, and definitely a few classes to get comfortable with their fast-paced format. People are nice and no one cares if you're not keeping up with all the moves. Overall this is a really fun, high-intensity cardio workout that gets you really moving! read more

I was initially happy with Elev8 and its supportive community--I stayed for over a year and learned a lot. However, over time, I noticed my trainer becoming increasingly inattentive, often focusing more on friends or his phone than his other clients. While I understand it's a semi-personal training session, consistent lack of engagement from the coach made the value questionable. I found out later that other clients had similar experiences and shared with me that this kind of behavior was pretty common. When I left a 2-star review about this topic, the coach responded aggressively--leading to a public argument at the gym and an inappropriate text to my husband. While I own my part in posting a critical review, his reaction felt unprofessional and unnecessary. As a result, I'm no longer a member and have moved on to focus my fitness journey elsewhere. This gym is not a safe environment for women. After I posted my original review, it was flagged. I want to be transparent: I felt pressured to revise my words due to that complaint, even though everything I share is based on my lived experience and beliefs. I'm reposting a version that reflects my truth and complies with Yelp's terms. I was a member of Elev8 from 2022 until mid-2025. On May 31, 2025, I was assaulted by the owner and head trainer, Roberto "Berto" Hernandez, at a private social gathering. I was backed into a wall, pushed against it multiple times, and then aggressively grabbed by the throat -- I believe he was trying to choke me. I attempted to defend myself to stop the attack. This was an incredibly frightening experience. In the weeks since, I have had to relive the harm as others have denied or distorted what happened. What's most disturbing is the environment that allows this behavior to thrive. In my opinion, Elev8 operates as a closed, toxic ecosystem. It is a gym made up almost entirely of women -- a dynamic I believe Berto fosters deliberately. From what I experienced, he holds unchecked power, quickly retaliates against those who challenge him, and uses charm and control to manipulate loyalty. Some witnesses to my assault have privately confirmed what happened. Others have spread misinformation to protect him. The gaslighting has been shocking. What I personally witnessed and experienced over time includes: Physical and verbal aggression from Berto, including the assault described above Frequent use of degrading and misogynistic slurs, including calling me a "bitch" Verbal, emotional, and emotionally manipulative public takedowns of women who challenged or disagreed with him Fatphobic comments and body shaming under the guise of "tough love" The departure of multiple strong women trainers. One was a beloved trainer undergoing cancer treatment who, in my view, was mistreated and disrespected until she ultimately left -- which devastated many of us and left a lasting impact on the gym community I have personally spoken with many former members who expressed that they left because of harm they experienced or because they felt deeply uncomfortable with the culture Berto created. I share all this not to harm the gym, but to protect others. I joined Elev8 seeking strength and community. Instead, I found an environment that was emotionally manipulative, verbally abusive, and -- in my case -- physically violent. I was deeply harmed and am still recovering. To be clear, I am sharing what I directly experienced, witnessed, and believe to be true. Others may have different experiences and may continue to support Elev8 -- but this has been my experience. I have documentation and am not the only one harmed, but I am speaking out despite feeling intimidated by the owner. If you're thinking about joining: don't. If you've been hurt here: you're not alone. If you've stayed silent out of fear: I see you. I believe you. This is not a safe space. This is a dangerous man hiding behind fitness. Unfortunately, my experience at ELEV8 changed since my first review. I became a member in 2023 and had an incredible experience with both circuit training and Sudamix classes, largely thanks to our amazing former circuit class trainer and the community of strong, inspiring, supportive women. ELEV8 quickly became a meaningful and empowering space in my life. We suffered a huge blow when our circuit class trainer left. After that, a lot began to shift: 1) Evening circuit classes no longer had a regular, dedicated trainer. 2) The space allocated to circuit classes was reduced. 3) Sudamix was moved from its dedicated studio into the main gym's floor exercise area, which is smaller. As a result, for about six months I was receiving little to no direct coaching from the remaining trainers, who were mostly focused on weight-training clients, and I had access to less space, all the while still paying the same membership fee. One by one, other regulars from circuit class stopped showing up, and the class's once-lively, motivating energy started to fade. More often than not, I found myself training alone or with just one or two others -- and no coach -- struggling to justify the cost of my membership. For a while, I accepted these shortcomings because I loved the community so much. But that, too, changed when I became aware of a serious incident involving an ELEV8 trainer, among other reports of questionable conduct toward clients. This did not align with my values so I felt it was my time to leave. Within a couple of hours of informing another trainer that I'd be canceling my membership (I did not disclose my reason and did not mention anything about the reports), I was blocked by ELEV8's official Instagram account. I never had conflicts with any of the staff, so being blocked felt unexpected and alienating. I was later unblocked but nevertheless felt that this incident reflected ongoing gaps in professionalism. I'm sad to have left a place that was so important to me. I wish the community there the best and hope one day the gym will meaningfully rebuild its service quality and integrity. read more

My #1 gym in Vallejo! I found this place because my fav 707 cycle teacher Coach Jeannette started teaching here. If you like cycling, she's the one to take a class with because you don't just sit on the bike! You do sprints, jumps, and more! And the music is on point! The gym itself is a huge clean space with plenty of equipment that's ALWAYS wiped down! Here, people are scheduled to come in at certain blocks of time so the gym never feels crowded like commercial gyms. Don't we all like to kinda have the gym to ourselves?! Hahaha AND honestly when you work out here, you don't have to bring your AirPods/ Beats with you because they have a club like sound system with DOPE music playing to motivate you to go hard or go home during your gym sesh. Goodbye to the days when the AirPods won't stay in your ears because there's just to much sweat hahaha For a trainer, Berto is the guy! I am learning a lot from him. He pushes you to step out of your comfort zone so you can get stronger! I'm definitely looking forward to see the progress with him. He is easy to get a hold of and will work with your schedule! I went here once to try a Saturday Sudamix class (Nov 2022). I booked it with ClassPass. Staff was helpful. SUDAMIX: you use a step platform and weights, and you follow a couple of sequences of stepping with different arm movements. Other movements included jumping jacks, basic Salsa and Bachata step. The instructor was DJing and calling out cues. It was super fast-paced and sweat-inducing. They have different membership and class offerings for circuit training, strength training, but no prices that I could see on their site, and no paper handout with their price list, which would have been nice. I recommend trying Sudamix if you want a super fast and fun cardio experience. It was an excellent workout. read more

As a result, I joined the gym weighing in at 156 pounds (5'5'') and lost weight down to 132 pounds in about 3-5 months. I took a combination of the sudacircuit (3 x week) and weight training (2/3 x week). After staying consistent for over 6 months and progressively overloading. I started seeing major results. I essentially reshaped my body figure and by the year mark of May 2022 I had gained about 10 pounds of muscle. Berto guided me through my fitness journey- and memorizes your weekly goals, body strengths and areas of opportunity. I've been working out with Kelly (circuit classes). She's an angel and super supportive. I love that she's always there to cheer me on and is excited every time I come to class. Luckily a few women that I know attend Elev8 and their transformations were incredible. I hurried and signed up and it was the best thing ever. Berto is a great coach and his dedication is admirable. As long as YOUR willing to put in the work he will motivate you and help you steer in a healthy direction. Berto is amazing at pushing you towards your goal. He will insure you make the gains and transformation not just for your body but your mind set as long as your willing to match him 100%. I've been going to Elev8 Training for over a year and a half since the gym opened. I originally decided to start off with coming 2 days a week for Sudamix then integrated to Circuit training and weight training, now coming to the gym 5-6 days a week. I'll have to say it's been the best decision of my life! Not only have I've lost over 35lbs, I've gained new muscle tone, a new self confidence and love for health and fitness! I'm stronger than I've ever been and everyday I learn something new from Coach Berto and the amazing support staff at Elev8. This gym is not your typical gym! Berto provides multiple classes including nutrition guidance. He challenges every single client to the best of their ability and holds each member accountable every step of the way. One of the many things I love about Elev8 is the positive support system. Absolutely everyone encourages and motivates each other. We are more than a team that "works out" together. This gym is absolutely fantastic. I've been to a lot of gyms in my life all over the country and this is one of the best I've ever been to. 1) the space is very clean and nice. And BIG 2) berto is very knowledgeable and truly caters your workout plan to your needs 3) I never ever waited to use equipment unlike at a bigger gym. This is because berto assigns you to machines/equipment and cycles people thru so you're never waiting 4) the environment is great with people of all different ethnicities, ages, backgrounds, fitness levels 5) the trainers and berto are all very encouraging and motivating 6) the circuit classes are kick ass with good time availability 7) never tried the sudamix classes but they look fun I highly recommend this gym if you're looking for a place to meet your fitness goals.
