Awesome place to get your workout on! I've been coming to this gym now for a couple years now. I can honestly say I love the workouts, love Berto and Kelly as trainers, and the dedication and time those 2 put in to help achieve my goals. Since COVID, I def feel super safe working out at Elev8 with everyone wearing masks, distancing, wiping down their equipment they used as soon as they are done with it, multiple disinfectant bottles and wipes everywhere to clean whatever you need to, and the reminders Kelly and Berto give to people when people forget or something. It's nice when the closest person working out near you is 10 feet away. I definitely like that. If it wasn't that way and was more crowded like a 24 hr fitness or something, I wouldn't feel the way I do and I would be hesitant to go. I also like that you have to sign up to come on their app, then you aren't allowed in without a mask, you temperature is checked, and you wipe down everything you touch. Pretty simple. I'm a fan! I started my fitness journey 4 weeks a go. I truly love this gym, the staff and owner are super nice and friendly. Since I started, I have already lost 8lbs Thankyou to the amazing classes they provide. Kelly the amazing personal trainer for suda circuit Thankyou for always been so inspiring and helpful. Let see how long my review lasts since it's not a positive one. If you're a gym rat then this will probably be for you. After climbing 40 plus stairs to get to the second floor at an old warehouse converted into a gym. They use the concrete hallways for some running. The work out room is very dark and humid. I was given the gym overview by someone at the front counter not the person I scheduled the appointment with. They have you sign a waiver and fill out a contact sheet before they say anything to you. I guess they assume everyone is dying to join. I had my introduction at the front counter. No where to sit. Very loud in the background due to all the people working out. The person took my weight and figured out my body fat and that's it. I got information on the challenges only. 6 weeks for $500. Just to loose 20lbs if not they keep the $500. Must stick to their schedule for the challenge. Not flexible and no one-on-one training. If you're used to gym and working independently then perhaps this may work for you. I saw mostly women when I was there. Very disappointed with the misconception of this gym. Great reviews on Yelp and false advertising on Facebook. For the folks trying to loose a lot of weight look elsewhere, I will. It was too good to be true. read more

It's Been officially 1 year since I joined Elev8. It all started with a friend telling me to go check it out. she knew I was looking for more then just the same old gym. I kept ignoring her until the day came and I decided to take her up on the offer and go check it. I was looking for new ways to challenge my myself mentally, gain strength and keep my workout routine interesting. ELEV8 offered that and more. For example: Circuit training , lifting area, sudamix etc. Circuit training is exhausting but so rewarding ( it's a fave of mine) lets just say during circuit there will exercise you may not do on your own but when you do circuit it's like you have no option but to complete and push yourself. Facilities are always kept clean, tidy and the staff is super friendly. The owner : Berto he will push you to be at your best and he makes sure you are there to workout and get the most out of your time training. I might have cursed Berto's name a couple times while doing Bulgarian split squats with 30 second holds at the end (they really bleeping burned) but I felt amazing when I got through it. Trained with ELEV8 for almost a year and made solid gains. Learned proper form, diet, supplementation, injury prevention, warmups, cooldowns, stretching, muscle group isolation, and most importantly how to maintain a disciplined fitness routine. ELEV8 is my favorite gym, gym family and my spot that kept me sane through my first two years of medical school. Honestly my favorite place in the 707. From the day I walked in 2020, I got hooked right away by the vibes, the ELEV8 community's motivation to accomplish our own fitness goals and a culture that inspires each of us to break our goals and setting newer ones. The training is top tier with Berto, Kelly and crew, as they know what they're doing. Focusing form, consistency and knowing your plans, they will go beyond as long as you're willing to put in the work. I walked in on day 1 only able to squat 185lbs, deadlift 205 lbs, bench 110lbs , sideload deadlift 225lbs for PR. In 2022 as I leave for my rotations, I squat 425lbs , deadlift 415lbs, bench 225lbs and sideload deadlift 520lbs. I don't say that to brag but I'm exemplifying how great this gym is, including the results. ALL of the ELEV8 community are wonderful and that's rare to say in a gym community because for active gym goers who have been to other gyms, that's never the case. It's not just weightlifting too, they have great circuit workouts and SUDAMIX with a great music set created by Berto. The only con if I can think of any is that this place is a pro-Giants/Warriors/Niners but I'm from San Diego so there's my bias. Still a fun time and no regrets. I give this gym my highest recommendation and recommend this to everyone of all ages. read more

Found this Gym on Yelp and decided to stop by to see if the hype was real! Let me tell you. IT IS! After explaining to Kelly and Berto that I was a new mommy that needed to begin my "Snap Back" journey and get motivated, they told me about their 6-week challenge! $500 to lose 20lbs in 6weeks and it's free what better motivation do you need than money, $500 at that?! It was perfect for me! I signed up immediately! Here we are, 6 weeks later and "I DID IT!" 20lbs down and feeling AMAZING! My experience during the 6weeks were great! It starts with Orientation/Weigh-in . All of their "Expectations" during the challenge are discussed. How and which classes to take. As a challenger you have full access to the gym and all the classes, so the difference between the classes are discussed as well. Your given a nutrition guide. You have opportunity to ask all your questions/concerns. They also have an APP to view, sign up or sign in to classes. I loved the convenience of it and used it to plan out each week. You leave the orientation understanding that they will provide all the TOOLS but in order to succeed you WILL NEED to put in the WORK! HARD WORK from the gym to the KITCHEN! Kelly expresses this throughout the orientation. There are workouts specifically for the challengers and I think that's dope! A group of people, all working towards a similar goal, with different fitness levels just encouraging each other. The workouts are no joke either! There is usually 1-2 trainers available, sometimes more, to guide you through your workout. Can't say enough about the trainers. They are all great! Thanks Berto, Kelly, Kristya, Ashely, and Lesley! I've known Berto since his days at In Shape teaching SudaMix and have followed him to Knuckle Up and now to Elev8. I highly recommend this gym if you need some motivation and a change up in your exercise routine. This place offers intense circuits, a stepping class, weight training, and nutrition coaching. I began weight training almost a year ago and have definitely seen positive results and feel stronger as well. This review is coming in late but I had to leave one. I trained at elevate from January to May in 2022 and I had a great experience. I became more strong and fit than I had been in a while. Berto was very professional and helpful and he helped me target the areas that I wanted to work on. He was very patient and reasonable with his workouts. This is the best gym I've ever been a part of! I went here for over a year throughout med school and the trainers and team are always so nice, encouraging, and makes you feel like you are a part of a family. My past gym experiences I never felt motivated to go because I didn't feel any sense of community or drive, but the Elev8 crew definitely got me out of bed in the morning. I've been training with Berto on and off for the past 5 years and I've been a member at this location since 2018. I've tried other options as far as health and fitness but I can't find the quality of training and coaching I get from ELEV8 anywhere else. SINCE COVID: Before coming into the gym and leaving, clients are required to wash their hands. Face masks are also required prior to entering the facility. A staff member greets you at the door and takes your temperature before getting started with the workouts. Multiple disinfect bottles, disposable towels, and hand sanitizer are provided through out the facility. The equipment are spaced out far enough for social distancing which is great because everyone can still workout and do so comfortably. Sign up times are required for smaller circuit and weight training group sessions. Clients are good at wiping down all equipment BEFORE AND AFTER use, and the staff makes sure that all clients follow protocols in regards to wearing masks during the entire visit for everyone's safety. I appreciate the cleanliness of this gym and the staff enforcing safety protocols and social distancing. read more

I previously worked out at another gym I love but plateaued and needed a change in my work out regimen. The owner Berto has an aggressive approach that works for me. You need to be on time and focused! (When I am not on time I am subject to burpees or running up and down the stairs!) I will remain anonymous due to the owner's hostile behavior and his so called loyal members... I give this place two stars due to its location and a huge parking lot. Facility is very dark with no natural sunlight besides two small openings. I was a member of this gym for 6 months then decided not to renew my contract in April 2018 due to the owner Berto Hernandez's unprofessional and inappropriate ways. It's too bad because I've met some great people at the gym and a great group of staff. Good luck and good riddance.
