After having experienced a gym or two (or ten) in my time, this is a totally different and individualized experience. To ensure i get off to a good start, and to make myself accountable, I engaged Ben (owner) for training, and he is great. Ben "meets you where you are" and doesn't use a one size fits all approach to training. No two sessions are the same, not to say there is repetition so that I can learn, but he is really trying to learn about my and my capabilities. He also takes the extra effort, on days that I go to the gym without scheduling training, to have a routine written out on white board for me to follow - and even those are unique sessions. I can tell that this gym, and Ben's training will make a difference in my longterm health! I never thought in a million years the things she was about to learn was going to change her not only physical ability, her mental focus for her games, but also changed her as a human. Dennis is a natural mentor, motivator, and teacher. He breaks down the mechanics of every movement so that your athlete can understand what they need to work on. During our sessions there was a football player and softball player along with my basketball player. I could not believe how he took the drill and modified it for every athlete's sport and explained to them the importance and related it to their game. As far as her sports training, I am thankful we found Dennis, because for my daughter it has given her confidence to elevate her game. As a mother I am thankful he is showing her proper mechanics to make sure she does not get injured. But most importantly, Dennis is an amazing human, with all the athletics aside, he teaches something so much more important. The first session at the end, I had to look away because I got teary eyed. The talk he gave my daughter in the end was amazing, he basically explained to her many aspects of the game and of life, including but not limited to being thankful for everything and everyone who every does something for you, being humble, having self respect and respect for others, and when you are on the court you put your game face on and nothing else matters. These are just some examples of what is included in his session. If we could clone Dennis about a million times and sprinkle him around to influence our youth, I truly believe our future would be bright! Dennis has been been a great motivator and knows what exercises are necessary for her to perform better. My daughter is able to out perform male students in her school athletic programs. I came on a Wednesday night (the last class) it was fairly empty - I think everyone comes for the kickboxing since I came early to sign up (no one was at the front desk so I just awkwardly watched for 15 minutes). Some thoughts I had: It's not your average gym, there are weights and equipment in the back but I'm not sure if it's open to everyone of just those taking private lessons. The main area is a large open cardio floor great for group workouts which is what it is. Most people workout barefoot or with indoor/solely for the gym kind of shoes only. Not sure if I am a personal fan because it seems unclean/dangerous if a weight is dropped on the foot. As a transformation gym, I was interested in kickstarting my health and getting toned.- possibly even their bikini comp programs - I thoroughly checked the website and was interested in their nutrition program especially as well. I stayed after the class and had the opportunity to meet Mark. Nice guy but when I asked him about the programs and he just kept telling me to look on the website which didn't provide much information about their nutrition format or how the body tracking/goal setting works. I really wanted to love this place and was ready to sign up right then and there but didn't feel like I would get the support I was looking for just based on my first interaction. I signed up with Orange Theory instead.
