I moved to the area about two years and was apprehensive on trying a new workout studio after taking classes at a Club Pilates in the area however after taking my first class at The Mat that fear quickly disappeared. Joselyn and Crstyal are super kind and offer some of the best classes i've ever taken! They offer a variety of different class styles with different instructors as well who are ALL wonderful at what they do! Everyone has their own style and music preferences which is amazing because there is a class for everyone! My go-to instructors are Emily, Joselyn, Crystal, Brittany and Mary although I have tried everyone and they are amazing those instructors just have class times that work best with my schedule! The pricing at this studio is amazing, it's not overpriced like most studios and their parking is super accessible! They offer a variety of options from $28 drop ins to class pack to memberships. The studio itself is so cute and welcoming, Immediately when you walk in the instructor is there to check you in. There are cubbies as well where we are able to place our belongs before heading into the heated space to begin class. There is a bathroom in the studio that is stocked with deodorant as well as pads for emergencies which eases my mind when it's that time of the month. Overall I know I have found a safe community to be able to move my body again. I would and have DEFINITELY recommend this studio to anyone interested!

The class definitely challenges you to get outside of your comfort zone and you walk out feeling refreshed, recharged, and a bit sweaty lol! I always walk out knowing it's a good class when I've lost a couple of lashes along the way. The instructors make you feel welcomed and take time to get to know your name. You even start to get to see the same friendly faces in the morning and start making some friends - definitely feels like a community and I love that about The Mat.

She asked everyone before we began class if anyone had any ailments so she could tailor her focus or show you alternate ways to do poses to best suit you. She walks around to each person to allow guidance. She "picked" on me as I was a newbie but I really appreciated it. I put on my learning cap and really tried to absorb everything and try out the different resources. Oh you've got a bean bag or an eye mask, sure I'll try those out. I had never taken a restorative type class. Here you use several props to support your body, while focusing on one part of your body, you relax the rest of your body. Once you find the perfect balance, you hold each position for an extended period of time. In the classes I took in the past you moved through the poses so fast you never really felt what you were doing. This was much more focused. The music was beautiful, the light was dim, and she offered words of enlightenment along the way. It was very relaxing, rejuvenating, mind opening and perfect. I can't wait to try out the other classes the Benicia Yoga and Wellness has to offer. Thank you Laura!!

There is an exercise named the hundreds, and after doing it, my neck would hurt. I told Cristela about it after class. The next morning Cristela said she'd been thinking about it and wanted to watch me do the exercise. She noticed I lifted with my head first instead of my chest and that was what was causing my neck to hurt. She is very thoughtful with every member. It is not just Cristela that is knowledgeable, patient and kind; every instructor is invested in seeing the members work at their own pace and succeed. I've only been a member at Club Pilates for three months and already I'm stronger and leaner. It is my happy place.

Compelled enough to take time out of my life and write this review- Trust me I don't want to but I also don't think its fair I'm getting treated int his manner. Wednesday, January 10, 2024: commencement of text messages from "Club Pilates Benicia" from someone named Aaijsha? with the 1855.920.0316 text number.  Sunday, March 2, 2024: I ask for a menu, any grand opening specials & their open date. Said due to open April 6. I ask for the menu. ask me to call when I already confirmed I preferred text messages. I ask for a menu again. He/She asks for "a menu of what? I don't understand what your asking me"I state a membership menu., a brochure of all the membership options; something with all the plans people are able to select from and see the membership options. (very standard & typical for any business newly opening up) marketing material...I asked if that made senseHe/She stated they don't put pricing on brochures because prices are subject to change and asked if he/she was making sense to me.  Sometime in March:They had a couple pop-ups. One got cancelled due to the rain. Thursday, April 28, 2024: I walk into the studio as I see they are open. I finally see a brochure! never mention my experience but glad to get some questions answered. Lovely girl with bangs that helped me. She said they had a promo but never mentioned that there was a deadline. I let her know I will definitely join but needed to consult with my husband as to which plan because the promo was not applicable to the plan that includes being able to work out at other locations as we do travel.  Today, May 3, 2024 8am: I walk in because I called twice and no answer. I try and sign up to take advantage of the promo and they tell me I can't. The computer was down so I had to wait for a re-boot. I inquired about joining that day and being able to still make it to a class because I scanned the cute little QR code on the back of the brochure I got the week prior and it brought me to intro classes only for the following week and I wanted to take a class that morning or day- right away. I've already taken the into class at the Walnut Creek location and my friend is opening up the El Cerrito location but I live here so by default of course. The lady in front advises I come to the 10am class that the owner teaches. Im just exhausted at this point to get an answer, contact. I WANT TO JOIN BUT AFTER AN ENDLESS RUN AROUND & GETTING TREATED LIKE THIS,WOULD YOU SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS & JOIN? I DON'T FEEL VALUED AS A PERSON, CONSUMER, MEMBER, WOMAN, MOTHER NOTHING.
